Rustic, >100 years old but fully furnished and very clean. Teddy Roosevelt stayed there en route on horseback to Yosemite. The proprietor Mary was so very accommodating and a historical expert on the hotel and the town. Furnished w/ well-kept antiques and a panorama of vintage pics of a by-gone era arrayed on the walls. Totally unique and so much better than a "modern" clone motel you can visit anywhere.

Rustic historic hotel right in centre of Mariposa. Lots of charm, and comfortable stay.

Room features are antique, as is bed and sheets! But we found them to be reasonably comfortable and clean.

Breakfast options were continental, which can be enjoyed on the veranda watching hummingbirds feed.

Enjoyable stay, obviously dated so don't expect modern comforts, but that is its charm.

Just got back from a stay ..The location is about 50 minutes to Yosemite gate..from the gate it’s about 15-20 mins to Yosemite valley/Curry village. The breakfast was continental pastries , yogurt etc (coffee was delicious)..very clean rooms and hotel ..Hostess super kind ! Love the town of Mariposa but everything seems to close early around 9 pm but surprisingly very good restaurants within walking distance. Our room had small mini refrigerator, small compact hair blow dryer.. my bed was sooo comfortable..not much parking in front but go to back plenty parking there.. note there is no elevator and the hotel is a floor up which means lots of stairs..,there is a bar next door but although noisy they seem to close down pretty early also so didn’t not keep me awake.

Really enjoyed staying at this hotel. It has lots of old world charm. From the rooms to breakfast on the terrace with the hummingbirds we loved it all. Great location in the centre of town and as a base for exploring Yosemite.

Stayed here for the first few nights of a driving holiday. Very clean and comfortable accommodation. Breakfast is continental style, but was more than enough for us and sitting out on the balcony with the hummingbirds was a real treat for us! Mariposa town is very quaint and walkable. Hosts were very helpful and friendly.

We stayed two nights at the Mariposa hotel inn. The owners were nice, but left on their own vacation soon after we arrived. Our room was a nice size but furnished in the quasi-Victorian style of the late 1970s. The flowery wall paper was well scrubbed. The shower controls were moldy and old, resulting in a thin and hard to temperature-control stream. During our two day stay we had no maid service: we made our own bed and re-used damp towels. We like to support local businesses, but in this case, we will find other options for a Mariposa stay.

As I sit in my room. The saloon (Bar) down stairs adjacent to the hotel has a slight rumble with laughter. So if your coming here and that bothers you ask for a room on the other side. The hotel is owned and run now by two of the nicest people you will ever meet. They will tell you, they just got tired of their ranch so they decided to buy the hotel.

If your looking for a 5 diamond hotel, go to Vegas. This place is over 100 years old and it feels like it. But I will say that if you like the old nostalgia of an 1800's hotel this is it. They are working slowly with making it better and doing some improvements. In fact I was helping them tonight with the front breakfast credenza or something like that. It's a place they set the continental breakfast. "Coffee, a Danish and a smile"!! The owners are in their 70's and 80's and they do all the housekeeping as well. So if you need towels let them know and please try and make your bed before you leave for the day to Yosemite!!

When we got here the rooms were very clean. They even have shampoo and soap in the bathrooms. ;). If you help out around the place they might even give you the family and friends rate the next time your through. Bare with the carpet. It's on the things to do list. But it's not really that bad. That was a comment from another guest from last June.

Lastly if you bring your guitar and like country music, sit down and play with Ted the owner. We had a jam session tonight and Johnny Cash was on the play list!! Enjoy your stay. We did!!

Room Tip: Noise from saloon on north west side so ask for the opposite side on Friday and Saturday nights.

My husband and I stayed for 2 nights in June 2012 we don't mind old fashioned/ shabby chic and were not expecting 5* accomodation, however there is no excuse for a dirty room. The bathroom was cleaner when we left. The bathroom surfaces were very dirty/ dusty and bathroom floor full of long dark hair (not ours). The room was generally very dirty with thick dust on the lamps and numerous artificial flowers. The shower curtain was thick with mould and was disgusting- the room looked as though it had not been cleaned for weeks. The outside space was also dirty and looked as though all the breakfast tables could do with a good scrub. We booked the hotel having looked at previous reviews but wish we hadn't. Having stepped over the homeless drunk guy sleeping at the rear entrance on our arrival we should have trusted our instincts and found somewhere else. Sorry Mariposa Hotel Inn if you had employed a decent cleaner I would have rated you much higher.

My husband and I were visiting Yosemite and were looking for a place to stay for a couple of days. This location was close to Yosemite and was a decent price. I had looked a many different places to stay and finally settled on this hotel. The staff was very friendly and the room was very clean. I liked the hotel since it had lots of history. We didn't partake of the breakfasts since were left out early each morning. The owners were very helpful in recommending places to eat. We would stay here again.

We lucked out in getting a room here without a reservation because they had a cancelation. Was less expensive than some of the chain hotels we called in town, and with a lot more character. The owner checked us in and was very friendly and interested in us having a good visit. Large and nicely-decorated old-fashioned room. Breakfast was simple, but on a nice porch with flowers, hummingbirds flying around, and a view of the hill behind the building. Only issue would be if someone has trouble with stairs, since the hotel is on the second floor without an elevator.
