We chose that hotel for one night while coming from Bakersfield and heading towards Yosemite Valley. The Mariposa Hotel Inn, a historic facility with just 6 rooms, is really, really old and makes you feel a bit like you are in a Western movie. Mariposa is a really small town with a beautiful main street where also the Mariposa Hotel Inn is located. Plenty of parking spaces are available to the back side. We arrived on a late afternoon, went through the main entrance, up the stairs (there is no elevator!) and were overwhelmed how cozy the place was. We were checked in by Sally, an elderly lady with a really good sense of humor. She showed us our room and the breakfast area and gave us all the details we needed to know. Our room was to the backside. Due to this and that Mariposa is really small it was absolutely quiet. It was really clean with a romantic, historic, individual flair. Beds were really soft and comfortable. Also the bathroom was really clean though it could use some renovation. But absolutely ok for one night. The breakfast area was on the patio to the parking lot with many, many hummingbirds flying around. Just beautiful! Not that beautiful is the breakfast itself (when you are used to European breakfast). Actually it is just some pastries and tea/coffee. Nothing spectacular, absolutely not healthy. Ok for one morning. Positive aspect: They serve on porcellain rather than styrofoam. We really enjoyed our stay in that tiny hotel in that tiny city. Actually we would love to come there again - but actually there not so much to do when you plan to visit Yosemite anyway and have no other plans that require you to stay a bit offsite.

Arrived quite late on the first night, but phoned on route, so no problem and still had a warm welcome. It was like a step back in time both with decor and hospitality. Everything was somewhat dated, but that's what gave it it's charm. Far more memorable that any motel to hotel chain. The 2 items in the room that reminded what era you were in was the standard flat screen TV and the Air-Con. Both items looked out of place (a black screen and a big white chiller cut into an outside wall), we didn't use either and were more that happier just the ceiling fan and no TV. We could have that at home. We were on holiday, and not at home! Breakfast was basic but enough. Again, what made it memorable was having it on the outdoor balcony with Humming birds for company. As for location, it worked out well for use. Quite a bit cheaper, and about an hour's drive into the Yosemite Valley on our first day. The drive back felt longer, but broke it up with a 'dinner' stop. The second day we drove south the Mariposa Grove, then north back to the Valley before heading east to Mammoth Lakes.

Really enjoyed staying at this hotel. It has lots of old world charm. From the rooms to breakfast on the terrace with the hummingbirds we loved it all. Great location in the centre of town and as a base for exploring Yosemite.

We stayed in room 6 which is large and has a separate entrance. The bed was super comfy. Decor is a bit tired and could use some sprucing up. The innkeeper was very accommodating. Breakfast is simple, fruit and packaged muffins.

My husband and I spent the night there on our way from Yosemite back to our son’s house. It’s such a cute 6room hotel and Mary was so kind and helpful with suggestions on where to eat and other places to check out. I am just disappointed that we didn’t have more time there. We would definitely stay there again!
