The Jamaica Bay Inn Marina Del Rey, part of the Tapestry Collection by Hilton, has earned praise for its spotless rooms and refreshed atmosphere, complete with live music and updated decor. Nestled in a prime location, the hotel offers guests easy access to nearby beaches and attractions. Opinions on service and value are split; while some guests commend the attentive staff and complimentary parking, others have experienced slow service and find the food and extras overpriced. Room comfort is generally celebrated, though there have been occasional reports of bugs and odors. Amenities are well-liked, though comments suggest the pool and towel service could be improved.

Very pleasant stay in Marina Del Rey. Enjoyed room balcony to relax and watch water and boats. Had a lunch with 9 adults that was lovely overlooking the water. Only concern was room was a bit outdated.

First off, I got a one bedroom suite for two weeknights at the beginning of February so my wife and I could hang out in the room and relax for her birthday. The suite had one big dual sink bathroom off the bedroom with separate tub and shower and another bathroom off the sitting room. The sitting room had a balcony that looked out over Mother's beach, a quiet cove at the end of the marina. We had an inside corner suite on the fourth (top) floor. Maybe the regular rooms on the lower floors are not very quiet, but this room was very well sound proofed. The restaurant service was fine, the food was worth the price. Kind of expensive but I think a foodie would not be bored by the creativity and selection of dishes on the one page menus. We had breakfast, lunch and dinner from the restaurant for two days and enjoyed every meal. With Covid policies you either dine outside looking at the little beach, inside in the pleasantly appointed restaurant or you take carryout to your room. There's no room service.

There are things about this hotel that make it a 3 star, but it is possible to use this place for a slumming 5 star local getaway.

I stayed here while being in LA for a few days and I really enjoyed my stay here. When we arrived I was greeted by a young man who helped bring the luggage up to my room. He was very kind and friendly and made me feel very welcome. The room, which was supposed to have a 'marine view', only had a view of a tiny bit of a small beach nearby. Another concern I had is that the room was quiet but in the morning I awoke to the sound of trunks honking. This was not nice. Breakfast was good, I got given a selection of great, but expensive choices. The staff were friendly though.

I liked my short stay in Jamaica Bay Inn and recommend it for short stays in LA.

We were very excited to stay at the Jamaica Bay Inn and on arrival we were pleasantly surprised to have a room available for us already at 9am, which we thought was great! We dropped our bags in the room, and then headed for Universal Studios for the day. When we returned, we quickly realized that our room's location was not ideal. It was the first room off the hallway that leads to the lobby, restaurant and elevator. We could hear all of the noise in our room, as well as our neighbors who seemed to be watching Die Hard in the room next to us (walls seem to be very thin). We went to the front desk and kindly explained that we were sensitive to the amount of noise and asked if there was another room we could move to. The front desk said the only room available was an upgrade and would cost $20/night. This doesn't seem like a lot, but when you've already maxed out your budget to stay at what you expected to be a very nice hotel, it makes a difference, and who knows if the noise level would be any better! We went back to the room thinking we would deal with the noise, but ended up contacting the 3rd party we booked though, who contacted the hotel for us. Our 3rd party was able to negotiate a different room for us! Awesome we thought! When I went down to confirm the switch, the front desk said the switch was only for 1 night and we would have to have our bags packed up by 12pm and would be without a room until check in at 3pm when we would get another different room. This was not going to work for us, so again the front desk offered an upgrade at $20/night. At this point, you would think the hotel would realize that their guests are not satisfied and that maybe $20/night isn't as important as making sure their guests are happy and are feeling taken care of. But no. Jamaica Bay cares more about $20 than its guests...

We have stayed at hotels nicer than the Jamaica Bay throughout the US, Canada and Mexico and if we have ever had an issue, it has been solved. This is the first trip where we have ever felt the need to contact our 3rd party booking site and the first time we have ever felt like the hotel did not care about us in the least.

To prove my point further, we have never had to pay an additional fee for a late checkout. If we are traveling later in the day, we almost always request this at our hotels. It may not be available at some, but if it is, we've never had to pay for it! At the Jamaica Bay, this is not the case. It is an additional $25 for 1 hour... Clearly they care more about making every penny they can rather than making sure guests are happy with their service! This hotel needs to make some serious changes in its level of service to guests. We have never felt less important as a guest at a relatively nice hotel.

(I do want to note that the staff was not rude about any of this and it seemed they were just following hotel policy so this is not a staff issue, it is a hotel management issue)

Great hotel for the value. Heater pool and Jacuzzi were great even when air temp went below 60. Stayed in King room overlooking marina which was very nice. The staff was exceptional from valet to bartenders everyone was very accommodating. Bed was plush and dark room was re energizing. The bar connects the outdoor area with couches around fire pits which we loved the specialty cocktail. Hotel has bikes for rent for $25/day which was very nice because the path starts at hotel and we rode all the way to Santa Monica and back. (Electric scooters don't work on strand, so glad we had bikes). I would definitely return also because the location is Central and easy access to Venice and santa monica to the north and Manhattan El Porto and Hermosa to South. Im a surfer so this was ideal based on swell direction to pick different spots.

I really wanted to like this hotel but it disappointed me. Listen to the other reviews don’t stay here. The hotel is old and needs a lot of updates. On the top surface the rooms look clean but after looking around you can easily tell the hotel is not kept up. As I walked in the room I inspected it and noticed that There was a hair on the comforter, the time on the clock was wrong, smudges on the mirror, stains on carpet, marks on sheet, worn sheets they need to be thrown out, dirt or something worse on the bathroom door, dirty shower floor, we had to wear flip flops while showering, mold on shower title, the shower handle fell off, moisture on room door, air conditioner so loud it kept us up at night. Went on balcony and I felt like the floor was going to cave in, the furniture on the balcony was old, dirty and torn. the room smelled of cigarettes and Marijuana.
Oscar at the front desk was great always so polite, cheerful and friendly, he made our stay a little better. but Anna not so much. We asked Anna to hold our bags because we already checked out because our flight was later that evening and when we got the bags back my daughters new backpack was broke off because she tied it to our luggage and it broke. My daughter was so upset and Anna didn’t say anything. The worse yet is that The hotel is so worried about keeping their guest out of the pool due to COVID but they are not concerned about keeping people off the streets out. Imagine a mom alone in the pool with her teenage daughter at 9pm keeping in mind that there aren’t any lights in the pool area and an arm reaches over the pool door and unlocks it. The man comes in the pool and takes off his shirt puts his skateboard off to the side and jumps in the pool. The #1 priority of any hotel is to make sure the guest are safe and we did not feel safe. I paid way too much money for four nights so disappointed. I won’t be going back and I do not recommend this hotel. I reached out to the hotel before leaving this review but No one responded back to me

The reason I gave this hotel a 3 was because they have been ignoring the water pressure issue in their room’s bathroom faucets and showers for over 10 years of reviews. When I looked at past reviews thinking it was just me I noticed the first review bringing this up was written in May 2012, yes over 10 years ago, with other guests leaving similar complaints about it. The hotel does not seem to see the issue because they probably never have a need to use their showers in the rooms like guests do, and it was actually aggravating to even use the faucets as it took double the time to do everything. I’m all for water conservation, but when you’re taking double the time to wash your hair with about the same amount of water, the systems implemented were ridiculous. If you’re a person with long hair, it will take you forever to rinse your hair out. I have short hair, and it took me a few minutes to get it rinsed enough. I recommend the hotel look at updated water conserving shower heads and etc. I have one in my house, and updated ones have significantly improved. They need to fix this issue that’s existed for nearly 11 years. The faucet nozzle in the sink has a flow reducer inside it. I’ll post a photo of the stream width in comparison to a dental floss box.

Check in was good, and staff was helpful. They also have a good briefing of logging into wifi and dining availability in the hotel. Venice beach was a short 10-15 minute walk from the hotel. I did like the room portion of the hotel, and the bed was comfortable. The couch on the other hand looked like it was worn out from someone’s old house. The cushions were flat, and the colors used for it didn’t help keep it modern.

Two takeaways for the hotel: research replacement faucets and shower heads that provide guests with a full shower experience (one brand that’s good starts with: oxygen—-). Replace/repair the sofas, and check the condition of the furniture in the room.

We had a suite so had a bedroom with double bed, then in next door room a sofa bed and extra roll away bed. The room and two bathrooms (one with shower only, the other shower and bath) were both was clean comfortable.

Our room had a great view over the marina, but that might vary. The only downside to that was we were also over the outside bar area. Generally this was quiet but I can imagine in summer that might not be the case. There was one instance of a scuffle outside at 3am which woke us but seemed to settle.

The location is great, we took an hour or so walk down to Vennice beach and then along to Santa Monica. Central Hollywood is about a 45min drive and the airport only 15mins.

Would certainly consider staying here again.

Diamond member, business traveler and I spend over 200 nights a year in hiltons and I was very disappointed in this hotel, twice.

First and foremost, one of the aspects that struck me as unusual during my stay was the housekeeping policy. At the Jamaica Bay, housekeeping services were only available upon request. This struck me as odd, especially when I stay at the Hilton Garden Inn located across the street provides daily housekeeping without guests needing to request it. Given that both hotels are part of the Hilton family, it seems inconsistent to have such different policies on housekeeping.

Another issue I encountered was the room amenities. When I attempted to iron my clothes, I found a very small ironing board and iron in my room (Room 204). The ironing equipment was more suited for a child or a Barbie doll, making it impractical for a guest who wishes to iron their clothing properly.

Furthermore, my attempt to use the vending machine near my room was met with disappointment when I found a handwritten sign that appeared to be hastily written, indicating that the machine was "not working." The sign's quality did not reflect the level of professionalism I expect from a hotel.

I also contemplated ordering room service, but I was deterred by the need to use a separate credit card for payment, and no option to charge it to the room, which seemed somewhat inconvenient. I decided not to proceed with the order as I found the process less straightforward than what I've experienced at other hotels.

In addition to these concerns, the water pressure in the shower was extremely low, which made for an unsatisfying bathing experience. There was no stopper in the bathroom sink, making it difficult to complete basic tasks like washing my face or shaving.

Another issue was the noisy air conditioning in my room. The loud noise made it challenging to get a restful night's sleep, which is crucial for an enjoyable stay.

I also observed that the stairwell on the inside was closed, and I am not certain about fire safety codes, but I believe that even during maintenance or refurbishment, guests should have access to a fire exit.

Lastly, as a regular walker, I appreciate the opportunity to go for a morning walk. I often return to the hotel to enjoy a cup of coffee in the lobby. However, I noticed that the paper coffee cups provided were inadequate for holding hot coffee. Providing Styrofoam cups or sleeves for the paper cups would greatly improve this minor issue.

I reported all this to the hotel and let them know I would be returning the following week. The GM then put me in a corner room, no view and no balcony. But I did get a fruit plate!

I won’t be back to this hotel

I desperately want to give this place a good review because of its location it (used to be) my husband’s favorite place to stay, and I love staying at Hiltons (for the points) but I cannot. We stay here or its sister hotel – The Marina Del Rey Hotel often – as in multiple times a year, but the Jamaica Bay Inn which in 2021 went into a partnership with Hilton is trying its hardest to NOT provide customer service. First, if you want your room cleaned while you are a hotel guest, you must advise them BEFORE you check in – do not expect housekeeping service during your stay, even if you have a suite, Second, this is the ONLY Hilton I have ever been to that does not have laundry service. If you travel light and hope to send out a blazer or pants while on vacation, this is not the hotel for you as there is zero laundry service. Third, they will not take a room service order over the phone – even though the phone in the room has a button with “room service” on it. Instead, not only do you get the menu from a bar code (no problem with that in principal), but if you call on your phone and touch the “room service” button and get connected to the resultant you will be advised that the ONLY way to get room service to your room (with the 20% upcharge) is if you order online. If your phone is not working (or you are older and cannot get it to work correctly) you can come down and order from the restaurant directly. So yes, the location is lovely and right at Mothers Beach, but do not expect any customer service from the Jamaica Bay Inn in Marina Del Rey. We will be moving to the Marriott.

I agree tha all the rooms I’ve stayed in that face the marina, have balconies, but just call and ask. In addition, i have found that the best view rooms are ones in the building nearest the pool. They will know what you mean. There is the main building and the section with rooms overlooking the pool. Ask for those.
