#2 of 13 hotels in Marina del Rey
Travelers' Choice
Sweeping 180-degree marina views, private poolside cabana suites, a 3,500' private event lawn and that's only the beginning. Before Marina del Rey was Marina del Rey, the Marina del Rey Hotel was there. Over the past half-century, the marina's most classic waterfront hotel destination has served as the central meeting point for local yacht clubs, fashion shows, and high-profile Los Angeles functions. Once host to legends like Jacques Cousteau and Kareem Abdul Jabbar, all are invited to rediscover the Marina del Rey Hotel just in time for the 50th Anniversary of the marina. The all-new, 164-room Marina del Rey Hotel now boasts 4-star amenities set against the marina backdrop of yachts and aquatic adventurers.

Our visit to LA was the best thanks to great service we had at Marina Del Ray hotel. I would like to start with a super special thanks to Nancy (our bestie) who made our staying very special. It was my boyfriend's birthday and she helped with organizing the cake delivery, car rental, amazing suggestions of the beat local places. The hotel was super clean, very neat, our room was amazing and we enjoyed the time at the pool (it gets crowded in the afternoon, but mornings are great). We are looking forward visiting this hotel again!

I stayed here in mid-May 2021. The hotel is in the marina at the end of a marina street, next to boat docks and a dockside walkway, with zero street noise and great views. The docks are super quiet, and with a dock view room you will have great views and quiet. The main sources of noise are hotel guests at the pool and hotel music at night - this seems to end around 10PM. The room was nicely furnished, with comfortable beds and a great bathroom. The hotel was very clean, as was the room; because of Covid there is no daily housekeeping, but you can ask for this if you want. Within 0.5 to 1 mile there is a supermarket, coffee shops, restaurants - all easy to walk to, and you can get to more restaurants in Venice within a 20 minute walk. Hotel parking is exorbitant ($40/night) - when I asked about public lots the staff claimed ignorance, but in fact there is a large public lot a 3 minute walk away ($5/24hrs with in-out privileges). The hotel aerosolizes a hotel scent through the ventilation system - it's everywhere, in the lobby, hallways, etc., including the rooms if you turn on the room ventilation; since the marina climate is cool you can easily avoid this by opening a window or balcony door. The hotel staff declined to intervene for a hallway party outside my room before 10PM - but at 10PM everything thing went quiet except briefly for my noisy neighbors who had to curse at me for asking them to be quiet. I'd stay here again, hoping that hallway parties are infrequent, the the public parking lot has spaces and that my asthma is kept in check with the room AC off.

Dear Paul, Thank you for your kind and thorough review! We are happy to hear you enjoyed our unbeatable views of the marina as well as our well appointed guest rooms. Our location truly is prime within the marina neighboring many options for shopping and eating. We acknowledge your remark about parking and commend your diligence in finding another option. Additionally, our parking is competitively priced. Recent market research suggests we are actually on the lower end of what other hotels in our area charge. Despite your disruptive neighbors, we are pleased to know we have earned your loyalty and appreciate your patience with our manner in mitigating the issue. We look forward to seeing you again in the future! Warm regards, Dylan Saladino Assistant Director of Front Office

When we were checking in to the hotel we were informed that the hotel did not provide housekeeping services. We would have to make our own beds, use bath towels more than once, and clean the room ourselves. The front desk person said that this was due to Los Angeles COVID laws. It was a lie. We stayed at another hotel in Marina del Ray just the week before. They had valet parking and housekeeping services. After the front desk lie we went back to the same hotel and they still provide housekeeping services. The Marina del Ray Hotel has an extensive list of its COVID protocols on its website, but no where does it mention that they do not provide housekeeping services, and it was not mentioned at the time of booking. It is totally misleading and unethical. Obviously, they are using COVID as an excuse to cut services and reduce cost. They inappropriately blame their corporate actions on the government. We are happily staying at another hotel.

Hi John, Thank you for your review. We waived your cancellation fee free of charge for both rooms due to this information coming as a surprise to you. Our guidelines are not a county mandate, however, serve in accordance with the California Hotel Lodging Association. Our property is Clean & Safe certified via the association and as part of our certification, we are committed to each item they deem necessary to abide by the safest cleaning practices in our facility. This is all in alignment with the Safe Stay American Hotel Lodging Association program as well. That being said, there is always some flexibility here so please note that we do offer services for guests who are staying for more than three nights. Additionally, we are confident we could have came to an agreement despite your antipathy for our policy barring it not being publicly posted for you to know prior to your stay. We consistently aim to ensure our guests have the most comfortable experience with us as well as much information on out hotel as possible. That being said, majority of our guests find no issue with the aforementioned policy. Housekeeping is always at our guest's service and willingly deliver anything needed to our guest's rooms throughout their stay such as fresh towels or bathroom amenities. Nevertheless, we thank you for your feedback again. Cordially, Dylan Saladino Assistant Director of Front Office

This is a nice hotel with a great view. The view alone is worth the price. It was the people that makes this an excellent rating. Nancy at the front desk helped with a car, told us if my daughter choose a local college they have discounted rates. She suggested we go to Manhattan Beach (great call). The staff at the restaurant was so good for breakfast. The hostess gave us directions to a local mall we could walk to while waited for the car. In short, they treated us like five star guests. This hotel is a great find!

TERRIBLE customer service. Hidden charges for parking. I booked online and no where on my receipt or in terms and agreement did it say anything about 25.00 a day parking fee. I told the manager and he said sorry its on the website. I told him I was on the website and asked him to show me where it says they charge for parking and he said he couldn't find it at the moment. Manager refused to take the fees off for parking.

Hi Kamcphee, Thank you for your review and valuable feedback as we continue to improve our service standards. Our parking fee is listed under our FAQ section of our website as well as all other outlets our hotel is bookable on. Recent market research indicated that all other 4-Star hotels in the Marina Del Rey/Venice area charge for parking and that our nightly parking rates are in fact competitively priced similarly to those hotels. We also offer a room package that includes parking if you are interested in a future stay. Thank you again. Cordially, Dylan Saladino Assistant Director of Front Office
