Stayed one night for business. Efficient check in, friendly staff. Got all the perks that come with the Bonvoy Elite status. Room was clean, quiet and fresh. Only negative was the shower - although I do get and support the care for the environment. MClub was excellent.
Friendly staff, updated, clean, and great location. Check-in was quick. Had a city view with a peak of the ocean on the sixth floor. Spacious, clean room. Easy walk to the beach. Walked across the street to the Jamaica Bay Inn for a delicious breakfast and flight of mimosas with a great view of the water. The only con was our room was near the elevator and it’s THE LOUDEST elevator I’ve ever heard. It seems to never stop. All day and all night long.
Well maintained Marriott. Above average beds!! Excellent MClub breakfast. Good parking. Get a room on higher floors overlooking Marina. Only negative is cost of glasses of wine - come on! Two glasses more than two bottles?
This Marriott is newly remodeled, clean and modern. The location, across from the marina and a few-minute walk to Venice beach, is great. Best of all, the hotel experience harkens back to pre-Covid days: they offer daily housekeeping and their concierge lounge is open morning through evening. In addition, their gym is well equipped with modern cardio and weight lifting equipment, plus room for HIIT workouts. Our marina-view room on the 5th floor was quiet and clean. Water pressure was good and we were happy to see both a rainhead and hand-held shower. The shower gel and shampoo smelled great (It was "thisworks" brand, we we had never heard of, and smelled like Aveda). The bed was comfortable. There was a Keurig and small refrigerator in the room. Drawer and closet space was adequate and there was space for 2 of us to get work done either at the work desk or using a portable table area and the couch. There were ample outlets and USB ports. The M Lounge (concierge lounge) had breakfasts and dinners available and the staff was outstanding! They were always clearing tables, replenishing food, checking with guests. Food was good quality. One strange aspect is that there were no diet sodas available--only full sugar ones. Our only complaint was that their internet had lots of lag. Overall we had a great stay and would definitely return.…
This is no longer a full service hotel and should not carry the Marriott name. The front desk staff were poorly trained and worked hard to ignore guests for as long as possible. There is no room service after 10 PM and even when open, the options are extremely limited. The bell staff was short handed but professional. The one standout in our three night stay was Chelsy, the bar manager. She is incredible! She is upbeat, pleasant, high energy and fast without seeming rushed. She is truly amazing. If I owned the place, I’d promote her to General Manager and let her clean house, starting with the front desk staff.
I booked 2 nights here before a cruise from San Pedro. I wasn't sure what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised by the nice lobby, comfortable rooms, lovely views and convenient location. I arrived around lunchtime after my flight from EWR and while I had issues with prearranged transportation (NOT through the hotel) I grabbed at cab at LAX-it (kind of annoying but that's another story) and got here pretty quickly, maybe 20 minutes or so and I think that the fare was maybe $30 or so. I over tipped the driver and the total of $40-50 is floating around in my mind. I know that the shuttle would have been about $65 and I'd booked it solely because they could pick up at the baggage claim doors but I digress. The hotel has a nice bar and restaurant, as well as room service which you can have delivered to the bar when there's no actual "restaurant" service per se. There's also a great M Club for breakfast, and light evening snacks. It's accessible almost 24 hours (it may actually be open 24/7 but I think it closes at midnight). I'd originally been assigned a marina view room but the associate who checked me in suggested that the Santa Monica/Mountain view was nicer. While I'd have preferred the marina side, it DID get dark quickly and I'm not sure I would have seen much. The room was very comfortable and nicely decorated in a somewhat seaside theme. (Somewhat, lol.) Comfy bed, large desk, plenty of outlets, giant TV and a comfy chaise lounge. The bathroom was spacious with nice toiletries. The room also had a Keurig and a mini fridge. The area appeared safe and I did walk to the Cheesecake Factory at night for dessert. However, I noticed a number of questionable characters in the area when I walked across the street the other way in broad daylight to get some lunch. Just keep your wits about you. I had lunch in the bar, yummy pork sliders and a couple of great, albeit pricey, even by NYC standards, cocktails. Gary the bartender does make some tasty drinks though so no complaints. The M Club had a nice selection for breakfast and "dinner" and I was happy to be able to fuel myself in the morning and have a quick snack at night. As this is, at the very least, a Marriott managed hotel, the staff was super friendly and really tried their best to make everyone happy. The only (small) issue was getting a gift card applied. Please do NOT tell me "your system is different." It's not, and we both know that. If you do NOT know how to apply a gift card, then please be honest and say, I'm sorry, I don't know how to to this but I'll get my colleague to assist me. Other than that, which was resolved instantly when I gently suggested that the associate needed to apply the gift card or get someone to help do it, I didn't have any problems with my stay. All in all, I'd stay here again if I was cruising or wanted to be near the airport but not TOO close to the airport. I was able to get Ubers to a grocery store and to the pier in the morning. If you want a fancy, resort hotel, this is not the place for you. But if you need or want to be in MdR or near LAX but not right at the airport, the Marina del Rey Marriott would be a fantastic choice. (I've heard that it's nicer than the Ritz Carlton that's a few blocks away.)…
One night friday stay, quick 10 min drive from LAX, late arrival after 1am SAT morning checked in online and platinum got us top floor with marina view. Hotel is renovated and room spotless, they put emphasis on platinum/titanium members as they are proactive on welcome emails, drink coupons and late checkout. The M Club is great and the host checking names is super nice plus the club has plenty of outdoor seating which makes it a perfect place to have breakfast. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone.
We stayed at this hotel for two nights towards the end of our LA trip, the staff were extremely friendly and helpful (in particular Robert and Blanca) and we found the location super convenient - walking distance to Venice Beach and great eateries just across the road ( I highly recommend Venice Ramen! ) But the best thing for me about the hotel was the view from our room, which was a Santa Monica city facing room, on top of the nice city view of SM, we could actually see the Ocean and Malibu hills, it was beautiful. We kept the curtains open all the time during our stay!. As per Marriot standard, the room was classy, clean and very comfortable. MDR is a good location as its near Culver City and Central LA if you need to go for meetings or Museum touring but its not in the city per say so you feel more relaxed.…
Great location near beach, Venice canals which we like to stroll around, stores and eateries nearby. Quiet and recently refurbished rooms. We had a room with Santa Monica and hills view, other side of hotel overlooks Mother’s Beach opposite hotel. Unsure which is preferred view but we were happy. We used outdoor pool but sadly jacuzzi closed (unsure how long?). Beds comfortable, spacious bathroom, nice toiletries. Appreciated pillow spray offered - great touch. Reason I didn’t give 5 stars is internet access path non user friendly ( suggesting various charging options but free if Marriott member- just cut the wording and make free for all as other chains do) and greedy parking and bike hire charges. Hotel charge $50 US to hire their cruiser/no gear bikes which are everywhere at the beaches to hire for $20-$30. Took 3 different staff before one could advise bike charge and bikes are all lined up at reception unused. Reduce cost and make cheaper for guests than public ones for hire. Parking onsite outrageous at $49 US especially given secure public lot opposite which we parked at for $6 US for 24hrs.…
We arrived and were met with a smell in the lobby that reminded me of a floor and carpet that needed a thorough cleaning. When I mentioned this to the desk clerk, we noted that an hour later it had been sprayed with Lysol or Fabreze. Carpets on our 8th floor hallway were a bit worn but smelled fine. Our room smelled fine although debris was found on the carpet indicating a not-so-thorough vacuuming. A large dead bug was also found in the room. AC was great the first night but we had to have someone come up twice to fix it. So 2/4 nights it was warm of about 76 degrees. We sleep at 67. Housekeeping was not great on the weekend. It was late and the cleaning was sparse. Hair still in the sink and debris in the shower. I feel fine giving this hotel a 3.
