The Marina del Rey Marriott is celebrated for its modern and refreshed rooms, with guests often lauding the stylish lounge and scenic views. While the hotel's prime location near Venice Beach and Santa Monica is a highlight, opinions on value are divided due to some perplexing fees. Service quality varies, with instances of both commendable and disappointing encounters. Guests appreciate the updated amenities like the M Lounge and fitness center, yet there are occasional concerns about service and amenity usage. Cleanliness is generally praised, but not without a few hiccups.

Just spent 3 nights here for an event. The rooms were renovated last year but they don’t feel that way as there is limited storage (tiny closet area, small drawers in room, little cubbies in bathroom under sink with half of them containing towels). Most rooms have sliding doors that open but curtains were attached in a way that you can’t get to the door easily. However, the A/C was fantastic and beds were very comfortable. They have also renovated the gym with brand new equipment and 2 peloton where you can fill bottles with sparkling/still water.
Valet parking is $49 but there is a lot across the street where you can park for $10 on summer weekdays and $15 on weekends for 24 hours. The valet guys mention it as well when you pull in.
The lobby area is a little dark and the hallways are curved which makes them feel a little creepy.
The pool is at the front of the hotel and was very windy when we were there.

We checked into room 944 and encountered insert I insurmountable problems with the HVAC system, which the building engineer couldn't fix. He said the valves in the wall that control heat and air conditioning temperature were frozen.
We were moved down the hall to room 910. The HVAC system worked in the room. However, the vents blow directly on the bed and there is no way to adjust the vents to avoid blowing the air on the bed.
It's a shame the king bed rooms are laid out so poorly.
The hotel staff were attentive and caring. The housekeepers worked extra hard since our bed had been made up differently without a duvet and with extra pillows and extra towels in the bathroom . The waiters in Sinder bar/restaurant were excellent. And the front desk staff were all extraordinarily good and caring. Given the hotel's design/maintenance problems, I would choose another hotel next time in Marina Del Rey.

Firstly, it turned out that something went wrong with the booking for 2 hotel rooms. A lady who checked us in tried to explain but her English wasn't very good. Ultimately a disabled room and a standard room. Otherwise they wouldn't have any more. Standard room was very nice. Recently completely renovated. This also applies to the disabled room. But the bed just wasn't... super soft and squeaked and creaked a lot. What we did not understand was why there is no mirror in a disabled room and no cozy work of art on the wall as in the standard room. Doesn't someone with a disability also want to see whether the blouse or hair fits properly?
Food and service in the hotel were very good! The alla carte breakfast was also delicious. Good coffee ;). Location is perfect. Parking across the street is cheaper than at the hotel. And renting a bicycle is great fun, but inquire in the area because the hotel costs €10 per hour per bicycle. So €80 for a whole day per bad bike... old and poorly maintained.

I recently stayed at the Marriott Marina del Rey and had a mixed experience. To start on a positive note, the rooms and hallways have been refurbished, giving them a fresh and welcoming feel. The room was spacious, open, and the bedding was of exceptional quality—simple but really nice.

However, the lobby was a stark contrast to the rooms, as it looked quite dated. It sufficed for basic needs but didn't offer the same updated feel as the rest of the hotel. As a Bonvoy Titanium member, I had access to the M Lounge, which was newly decorated and aesthetically pleasing. Unfortunately, the food service in the lounge was inconsistent and neglectful. On Friday, no food was put out at all, reflecting a lack of care.

A significant issue during my stay was that my room didn't get cleaned one day. When I brought this up to the staff, they initially challenged me and claimed the housekeeper had already cleaned it. It turned out, after an investigation, that the housekeeper had lied. The situation was poorly handled by the hotel manager, who treated me rudely and unprofessionally. It wasn't until a senior manager intervened that the issue was somewhat resolved.

While the hotel's location is beautiful and the rooms are quite nice, the service leaves much to be desired. The inconsistency in customer service, coupled with an unreliable food service in the M Lounge, was disappointing. Furthermore, the kitchen's limited operating hours make it difficult to take advantage of the hotel’s full-service amenities.

Given the poor service and the high destination fee that feels unjustified, I would reconsider staying here in the future. Why pay more for "full service" when the Courtyard Marriott nearby could offer a simpler, more reliable alternative at a lower price? The Marriott Marina del Rey needs to seriously improve its customer service and operational consistency if it wants to justify its higher rates. Next time, I'll likely choose a different hotel. The disrespect and insinuations from staff were inexcusable and left a lasting negative impression.

When we tried to check in we were greeted by a very rude receptionist. No welcome, no how are you, no how can I help you! He told us that we should show him our AAA card since we had a discounted price for our hotel. I told him that I was a Marriott honor member and showed him my AAA card. I had one that was expired and my husband in the car had the newer one. The receptionist said I needed to show it to him before he checked us in. I asked him to bring his manager in as he was utterly rude. The manager showed up and was more helpful. He helped us check in to our room. We stayed for one night. The next day we needed to check out at 5:30 AM. We called the reception desk and asked for help with our luggage. No one showed up. My husband called 3 times and I went to the reception and personally asked the rude receptionist to check us out and send someone for the luggages. She was as rude as the guy who checked us in. Did not ask how our stay was, no thank you, and kept chatting with another staff just ignoring me. Horrible customer service. It took over 30 minutes for us to get help with our luggage. For the price it was not worth it. I don't know why they do not hire professional staff and train them right. It is sad how customer service has gone done in hospitality business while their prices have gone way up.

Hotel is in a good location, room itself is modern with good views of skyline. All facilities were good including gym and pool. My criticism would be the over confusing $30 daily charge you’re forced to pay to then spend on the bar/restaurant. Included in this was a beach ‘snack pack’ which consisted of 2 waters and 2 cereal bars (we were only allowed to use this once during the stay) This ‘credit’ which was my own money was then on a daily ticking time to use by, we opted to use for the morning cafe as we were out early most days, the guy running the cafe was super friendly and a credit to the hotel. Upon check in with both the deposit and this $30 daily charge be aware it’s a significant initial outlay. I checked out a few days ago, and have yet to receive the security deposit back although they have managed to take a further amount from me, probably something to do with the over confusing $30 I did/didn’t use by the specific cut off!

One night friday stay, quick 10 min drive from LAX, late arrival after 1am SAT morning checked in online and platinum got us top floor with marina view. Hotel is renovated and room spotless, they put emphasis on platinum/titanium members as they are proactive on welcome emails, drink coupons and late checkout. The M Club is great and the host checking names is super nice plus the club has plenty of outdoor seating which makes it a perfect place to have breakfast. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone.

We had a nice stay at the Marina del Rey Marriott over a long weekend in December. The service was attentive and excellent from all departments, particularly at the Front Desk. GSR Summer at the Front Desk provided the most warm and welcoming check-in experience, reticent of what one would receive at a luxury Marriott property!!

The room was excellent, love the renovated room product! Very well done! The Destination Amenity Fee was also well packaged with significant activities and credits offered to offset the fee. We enjoyed our kayaking expedition in Marina del Rey!

One slight hiccup: we were disappointed however to find that our $30 daily F&B credit was not applied on one of the nights simply because we utilized it at 12pm vs. 11pm. The exact timing of when we had to utilize this F&B credit was not conveyed to us either by the Front Desk or the Restaurant that we dined at! How would any guest be expected to decipher that there is an arbitrary daily cut off for when this F&B credit can be utilized. Furthermore, as a hotel focused on guest enjoyment and relaxation, should this arbitrary timeline even be in place? Should a guest not enjoy dining at their leisure and not the hotel's??? This point did not sit right on an otherwise excellent stay!

The Marina del Rey Marriott is in a fabulous location, with well appointed newly renovated rooms that are fresh & comfortable. They treat titanium members very well & there's access to their M club, where you can get a very well appointed breakfast & snacks throughout the day. The restaurant and bar in the lobby are well-managed & well served and where you can use the $30 "resort fee" towards drinks and meals. (I will say I don't agree with this resort fee and think it should be removed, as many of us simply can't go to this restaurant every day).
Other than the annoying resort fee, however, this place is top notch. The service is as good as it gets. I want to make special mention of the front desk, where every single person we encountered went above and beyond, but particularly Summer. thank you for making this such a wonderful stay for us

Housekeeping moved out and lost my possessions (thinking I wasn't staying another night). They acknowledged the issue but said they're not responsible for any property loss (even if it was they who were at fault) unless I'd handed property directly to the front desk. Essentially you should not leave any items in the hotel room because the hotel staff could misplace them at your loss.

I totally sympathize with what was likely an honest mistake of the housekeepers, but am surprised the hotel refuses to replace or reimburse for any items they lost, large or small.
