Reviews Summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.

The Sanctuary Beach Resort captivates some guests with its stunning beachfront location and the coziness found in its charm. However, opinions are divided, as several guests criticize the outdated rooms and feel the high costs don't align with the room quality and amenities provided. While the cleanliness and friendly service receive commendations, the perceived value is marred by views that it's overpriced, with certain amenities and upkeep falling short of expectations. Despite this, features like beachfront fire pits and a pet-friendly approach are popular highlights.

The minute you arrive you feel like you are at a Sanctuary. The staff are attentive to all your needs. The restaurant is fantastic and you can't beat the panoramic views of the ocean. We felt like we had the whole beach to ourselves.

This is one of the best locations on the coast and the property and restaurant are fabulous. I really enjoyed the service at both and it is a great opportunity to put the phone away and get away from it all.

Beautiful spot but arrived for two night stay and power was out in the area. Only source of heat was fireplace which was electric ignition so room was 56 degrees until power returned around midnight. Then had no TV or telephone that night and no TV until around 9pm the second night. No lanterns provided or anything so place completely unprepared for power outage and offered no compensation or accommodation for all the inconvenience and their lack of preparedness. Even wrote to the manager who never responded so place has work to do on guest services as they should have been at least a little prepared and it should not have taken over another 24 hours to get TVs up and running which was not a broad issue and unique to the hotel.

Dear michaelwC2681OW. Please accept my sincerest apology for the subpar experience. Rest assured that we do have a protocol in place in the event of a power outage but we failed to communicate this properly with you on this occasion. Not that this matters, but the TV issue was indeed directly a result of the power outage. Nonetheless, I would love the opportunity to connect with you offline at your earliest convenience. I can be reached by email at any time at sbriens@thesanctuarybeachreort.com. Looking forward to hearing from you soon. With renewed apologies. Sylvain

John out Bellhop was amazing and the most positive experience. We have stayed here multiple times and I am sad that the adult sanctuary experience of old has been replaced with a family fun zone complete with screaming kids at the pool and dogs barking all day. This is exacerbated by people smoking cigarettes, and joints on their deck. Due to the lack of temperature control in the tool we had the slider open catching the ocean breeze, this is when the smoke rolled into the room. We tried closing the slider and opening the window in the rear with no screen on it only to allow bugs and screams in. During our walks out we witnessed animals relieving them selves on the sand path to the beach and in the “sensitive” areas. Since we were bare foot and didn’t want to walk through the animal sewage we went back to the room. Unfortunate experience overall from a place that used to be special to us.

Dear sdnight. Thank you for your note and continuous patronage. I am truly sorry that we could not make your stay as enjoyable as we attempted to. I am curious to find out whether or not some of those incidents were brought to our attention so we could have addressed them immediately; Unfortunately, we can't control people's bad behavior but we would have addressed it if made aware in a timely fashion. Nonetheless, there is a lot to absorb here, but please rest assured that your comments will be shared with the entire team so we can better understand the shortfall and set plans in place to avoid any further occurrences. Customer satisfaction is ultimately our number one priority and I would love the opportunity to discuss this subpar experience in person. I can be reached via email address at sbriens@thesanctuarybeachresort.com or by phone at 831.883.5525. With renewed apologies. Sylvain

We love this place. Stayed for my 60th bday. When we arrived we were told that the pool/hot tub was down indefinitely. We were disappointed because it's one of the things we love. By early evening it was fixed. For our inconvenience they gave us a nice breakfast. Suite, bedding, towels etc all clean & cozy. All of the staff members we interacted with were courteous & helpful. The grounds are beautiful and you're right on the beach. Added bonus= pet friendly!

Old hotel, creaky pocket doors, unstable coffee table, limited cutlery, plates and sweeteners for breakfast. Salt Wood restaurant only average food. But the location right on the beach, with bonfires every night was wonderful.

Our little bungalow was very close to the bonfire pits, right by the ocean. Our suite was beautiful, gorgeously furnished, and the bed was super comfy! It was lovely being able to fall asleep to the sounds of the ocean. The staff were impeccable as will, very professional and extremely helpful. The food is amazing, I especially love their system where you not only write what you want for breakfast the night prior, but even the time you want it delivered! Very unique and much appreciated. They were also accommodating of my pet houseducks Wobbles and Bean, which is rare for such luxury resorts, even pet friendly ones. Spa amenities are nice, I wish I'd used them more during our stay. The only drawback was that they're doing construction on the site currently, so the workmen were jackhammering away at 7:00 AM each morning making it impossible to sleep in. But that's just bad timing on our part and I don't hold it against them, it's a bit silly to expect any place of business to never do any renovations or building maintenance.

Dear amybZ3964XB. Thank you so much for the raving reviews and for sharing your experience with other TripAdvisor users. I will share your feedback with the team which I know will be encouraged by your remarks. Room renovation is indeed underway with a completion date scheduled for March 2024. Glad we were able to contain most of the noise but still surprised by your comment about jackhammering at 7 am; I am typically on-site by that time and it has yet to be an issue, or at least as far as I know or noticed.. but will monitor closely with the GC. Happy holiday season to you and yours. Sincerely. Sylvain

I recently stayed at the Sanctuary resort and that provided an exceptional experience. The service was top-notch, with attentive and friendly staff making my stay truly memorable. The highlight of the resort was the S'mores fire pits, where I enjoyed delicious treats while gazing at the beautiful beach view. The cozy and comfortable rooms added to the overall charm, making it a perfect getaway for relaxation and luxury. I highly recommend this resort to anyone looking for a fantastic beachside retreat with excellent service.

We had the most amazing girls’ birthday weekend at Sanctuary Beach Resort. I can’t recommend it highly enough. Gorgeous, oceanfront location with a delightful restaurant (if you’re lucky enough to have Danny as your server, the experience will exceed all of your expectations!) The food was phenomenal and worth a visit even if you’re not staying (but you really should!) They have a spa, pool, hot tub, and the highlight (if you can pick just one) were the beachfront fire pits to watch the sun go down and end the day with a s’mores roast! ♥️ Fantastic stay, wonderful staff. Can’t wait to return for work retreat!
