Always enjoy the peacefulness of the beach 🏖 this trip was a quick getaway to relax and enjoy beach time for my birthday. Are suite was ocean view and staff is always pleasant and friendly. Till I get my beach home this is always a welcoming retreat.
At the beginning of the pandemic, my now husband and I postponed our big wedding and last minute decided on an intimate ceremony at the resort since we were already staying there that weekend as a replacement "yay we almost got married" get away for late November 2020. The staff made the booking process very easy for us and made us feel like VIPs that entire weekend. We worked with Dawn on all things wedding related (ceremony/reception) and she was very patient, understanding and just fantastic to work with. Everyone from the shuttle drivers, front desk to the staff at the restaurant- helped in so many ways. They were wonderful to work with and besides extra tipping, we also gave them some cupcakes as a huge thank you for everything. Everyone was mandated to wear masks and I appreciated the safety that everyone took at this small event. Extra hand sanitizers were set up in the lobby and restaurant. A wedding during a pandemic is the most stressful thing to ever plan or experience and I appreciate everything that the Sanctuary has done for us to help us make it safe and fun.…
My wife and I recently visited the Monterey area and stayed in the Santuary Beach Resort. It was not our first time staying there but it always amazes me how beautiful the Resort is and how friendly the staff is. We had a Great stay and recomment this resort for your travel to the Monterey area.
I was looking for a quiet and calming resort for my birthday and have always had this resort on my list. My wife and I live in San Francisco so this is the perfect distance for a beach getaway. The pandemic has made everything more....intense....so I was ready to turn around if I wasn’t comfortable. I had nothing to worry about! We had booked a Panoramic Oceanfront Suite and received Suite 711. It is on the 2nd floor and has an incredible view. We arrived early on a Friday afternoon, around 1p, and were ready to head down to Carmel for lunch since we didn’t think the room would be ready. To our surprise, the room was ready! The room was incredibly clean and had everything we needed. Yes, the room needs some basic renovations, but you had to look for the imperfections in the baseboards and grout. We spent our days out on the balcony watching the dolphins out in the ocean and our evenings curled up by the fire pits in the courtyard since it was right outside our door. Thank you to the gentlemen who lit the fires every evening! The restaurant staff was also fantastic when we had drinks and appetizers one evening and dinner our last night. Yes, the hotel is expensive but it was very much worth the calm and quiet my mind needed during this year. Thank you to the staff at Sanctuary—we will definitely be back!…
Though the setting on the beach is beautiful, this hotel needs a complete renovation before it could be considered a luxury resort. Our room had furniture that was falling apart, a microwave on the desk, sheets with holes in them, chipped tissue dispenser and sliding doors that did not work. There were ants in the kitchenette and a spider on the wall. We ordered a morning pot of coffee three times and it still never came. The tap water is not drinkable though the 2 bottles of water in the refrigerator are $5 each. Housekeeping is suspended during Covid. All of this for almost $900 a night in a junior suite including the mandatory resort fee. We will not return.
