It always takes the warmth and personal attention invested from a professional hotel staff for us to stay again. Branden personalized our visit by making sure all of our needs were taken care of all five days. We felt like royalty on New Year’s Eve when Marissa & Alexis made sure we had our complimentary bottle of Champagne & noise makers to bring in 2022🎉 The restaurant and bar staff were friendly and helpful with in-room requests and exceptional food. The rooms and amenities , however, added the greatest satisfaction to our stay. After long bike rides to Hermosa Beach we were able to lounge on the rooftop in the luxurious hot tub and return to our room for a private jacuzzi dip. We know this will be a place we will return. A special thank you to the management team that takes great pride in making sure their patrons are top priority. We will see you again.

We spent 5 nights at Shade and while the location was fabulous and the staff friendly, we could not sleep at all due to noise from the restaurant and bar. We had one of three rooms in the hotel that are above the restaurant/bar and the noise made sleeping impossible. We could hear every song, every conversation and people cleaning before and after the restaurant/bar opened and closed. Honestly, those three rooms should not be used as guest rooms. We paid a lot of money to stay at a lovely hotel where we just could not sleep. If/when booking a room here, DO NOT stay in one of the rooms over the restaurant. Specifically, we were in room 221.

It’s like a Holiday Inn Express in a nice SoCal beach area. No valet parking upon arrival. Room was dated, borderline parody of a ‘80s honeymoon suite with in room jacuzzi. Food was mediocre. Bar staff were friendly. It was all just an unsatisfactory mixed bag. Three stars for the great location walkable to local restaurants and the farmer’s market. So so overall.

First people are just walking checking in or out with or without masks and the staff does not ask anyone to wear any masks , we had a room for the third time here because it used to be our little break from Redondo Beach ..To be fair the bath tube outside does not offer any cover to protect you from the people in the boats so you need to be wearing something getting in and out of the bath tube ..The edge are really sharp too. Around 11.30 pm on a tuesday night we could hear ( we were room 210 ) kids running non stop above us ,we were in bed had to wake up at 6 am for work ,then the room next to us went on a really loud party ..Called security ( the guy is cool) but noise was still there .The phone in our room was not working so we left the hotel around midnight, the security was cool and offered us an other room but we were not going to move again at midnight. For over $400 a night they did a really CHEAP job on the wall and ceillings and sound proof ..You can hear people walking fast above you at night,,

I used to drive by this contemporary boutique hotel every day on my way to work when I lived down the road in Redondo Beach... Never once occurred to me I might stay there someday. Then I moved away and had to take a trip back to the area for some work. I wanted to stay somewhere close to El Segundo, as that’s where I had some work to do, and close to Redondo Beach, our former home. Shade Hotel in Manhattan Beach was perfectly located for that! They’re right in the heart of town, just a short walk from the pier and the beach. Only ended up having to go to the office in El Segundo once, which is great because it meant more time here! I’ve stayed in dozens of hotels, good ones and... um... not-so-good ones... Shade was MORE than just one of the good ones. Few hotels I’ve stayed in come close to matching the hospitality we experienced here. The service was above-and-beyond friendly. FREE bike rentals for guests. Credits to get food or drinks at the excellent restaurant and bar. Very nice rooms with a big hot tub that has chromatherapy lighting. Pseudoscience or not, it’s just cool. Definitely enjoyed our time here, happy to have chosen it, and would not hesitate to return.
