Campsite is a great location right on the beach and each site has a picnic table and fire pit, which was great. Unfortunately when we visited they didn't mention that the water was turned off so their was no showers or fresh water available to wash hands or drink. The chemical toilets are disgusting, never cleaned and often out of... More

We read good reviews for this campground, so decided to give it a try. We were very disappointed, but made the best of it. While you do get to camp right on the sand, the campground itself is very primitive. There are port-a-potties, no showers, and the potable water spigots are turned off (we assumed because of the drought). When... More

Beautiful place for camping right on the sand. A big spacious long beach to relax on and soak up the sun. Bathrooms are bad but there is a faucet at entrance of camp. Sadly all the beaches in this area have rocks under the surf. So once you brave walking out on them swimming is fine, but body surfing and... More

Be aware it's a rocky coast line and super windy. But it was fun putting our tent right on the sand. Many RVs are here. We travel with our children (6,3&1) this is not a beach for children to swim rip is very strong and again coast is rocky. Kids loved throwing rocks into the water.

This is my absolute favorite camping spot in all of Southern California. This site is primitive, so no running water or flush toilets, but you do not camp next to any RVs, this is a tent only site. You get to pitch your tent directly on the sand. The sun sets over the water and the city lights are far... More

What a great place to spend a night or two on the beach. We are from UT and got a campsite here on a whim. It ended up being a really fun night! The camp sites are 20 ft from the ocean and include a fire pit, picnic tables and bathrooms (portapotties). I would recommend bringing something for shade to... More

Stayed at the campground last weekend and had a GREAT time. This place is perfect. Park the car, throw out the tent and kick back 25 feet from the shore listening to the ocean crash onto the beach. Nice size lots. Picnic tables, fire pit and a guy who sells firewood by the ranger station. This place is perfect for... More

As a Montrealer, camping on the beach of the Pacific Ocean obviously sounds very inviting to me. However, I was very skeptical about it, because throughout the entire Pacific Coast, from Big Sur to LA, you can find several of this type of campgrounds. Due to the absolute lack of privacy of the campsites, I was not entirely convinced whether... More

We have been going to Thornhill Broom camping for years. It is primitive, but it is as close as you can get to "camping on the beach". The warm reception and treatment by rangers, etc., was wonderful. Definitely a beautiful location and you feel in touch with nature. Wonderful experience and the kids love it (what is better than a... More
