The Malibu coastline is like a chameleon. In some areas it resembles the French Riviera with its lush, green hillsides descending into crescent-shaped shorelines. In others, it feels 100% Southern Californian with beaches wide and flat as a football field, and often crowded with beach-goers lounging on towels and playing volleyball. Other coastlines still feel secluded, tucked under tall cliffs and dotted with stunning rock formations. In certain areas, where the ocean waves are just right, surfers can be seen bobbing in the water. Up in the mountains to the east hikers take in truly stunning views of the ocean and the sprawling Los Angeles landscape. And along Pacific Coast Highway, restaurants are filled with visitors and locals from all walks of life. Stumble into the right place at the right time, and you’ll likely encounter a celebrity.

My second visit. We stayed one night at this lovely small hotel on Malibu beach. We had a room with view of Malibu Pier, which was lovely. Room is large, very well equipped and very bright. Service was excellent.

This place is worth the trip to California. Every room is with view on the ocean, opening on one of the best surfing spot in California. Superb terrace on the water with excellent food and bar, higher standards in every details, you pay the price but it's very good value for

We sat outside on the patio with some friends and our dog. Our dog looked a little thirsty, so we asked our waiter for some water. He refused, and said our dog wasn't allowed to drink any water, that we would have to take him outside. Weird, but fine. We weren't attended to by

Dear Frank C, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback, I am very sorry to hear about your experience. I want to reiterate that we do happily accept pets on our terrace while our guests dine with us, as well as service animals in our guest rooms. I would like to speak with you further, first to offer my apologies personally and then also hopefully find a suitable solution to your experience and have you come join us again at Carbon Beach Club in the future. If you wish to call me, my direct line is 310-460-4586. Thank you, Erin

Very cosy and roomy suite (we got a free upgrade) with sofa and table/chairs on the sea facing balcony. The hotel is really on the beach where you have a direct access to it + to the Carbon Beach pier. Staff friendly, efficient valet parking. However, the bathroom a bit on the

I'm not sure if they allow pets. I didn't look into that as I was not taking one on my trip

As far as road conditions due to this weeks rain/ mudslides, I would definitely check with the CHP however it’s important to note that the fires haven’t really affected the businesses, such as Malibu Beach Inn. located on Pacific Coast Highway. Keep in mind it will definitely be cooler in February but should be sunny. The Malibu Beach Inn is a great boutique-y hotel. It’s got an awesome location right on the beach with restaurants and shops conveniently located. VERY low key but definitely upscale. You’ll love it!

Is there surfing on the beach in front, and if "yes," are there surf boards for rent?
There is no surfing immediately in front of the hotel and I didn't see any surfboards for rent. But there are various places in walking distance where they rent surf equipment and also surfing takes place at very nearby stretches of the beach.

Our room did. I'm pretty certain the pull out was also a queen size.
