The Toll House Hotel garners praise for its exceptional service, prime location in downtown Los Gatos, and consistently clean facilities, with many guests appreciating the personal touches offered by the staff. However, some visitors feel the hotel falls short in value, citing unexpected fees and overpriced services. While the rooms are celebrated for their cleanliness and comfort, critiques are made about poor soundproofing and outdated decor. The hotel's atmosphere receives mixed reviews, with a divide between guests seeking a cozier vibe and those satisfied with the hotel's current ambiance.

I recently stayed at The Toll House Hotel for my wedding. Prior to arrival, I received a call from Abel to confirm our stay. I had a couple of requests and he was happy to make sure they were entered into the system. I let him know that I was coming for my wedding and he genuinely sounded so happy for me!

As our wedding was right in the middle of COVID times, you're extra aware of how establishments are maintaining their cleanliness and safety protocols. Upon entering the lobby, I saw plenty of hand sanitizer stations, signs and floor markers reminding people to maintain social distancing and to stay 6ft apart. At check-in, we were greeted by Enrique who was friendly and super helpful in finding a room that had better light.

I stayed in the Parlor Suite while my husband booked a Junior Suite. Both rooms were clean. I appreciated how all of the remotes were wrapped a plastic bag to let us know that it had been cleaned prior.

On our second night, the hotel surprised us with a congratulatory bottle of wine and cute little glasses. That was such a sweet gesture! I'm guessing Abel had something to do with that and maybe put a note on our reservation.

Overall, we had a great time. Everyone we came in contact with was very genuine and had a great attitude. I didn't catch the gal's name at check-out, but she was also very sweet.

Toll house hotel overall was a disappointment. With $240 a night, average rooms, lack of onsite facilities, very limited menu restaurant and costly options , lack of hospitality is evident in the experience. This is where the Price vs Value vs luxury doesn't hold balance. Unless you have to stay in Los gatos, there are better choices around

If you’re looking for an updated yet quaint place to stay in or near Los Gator; this maybe the right solution. The location which is basically within walking distance to the historic town which is more than charming and yet offers an enormous amount of eateries, coffee houses, baked goods, shops etc makes this reasonable, very clean, with free parking hotel a good choice. ( Highly Suggest they offer Toll House Cookies to their guest though) ( I know they are not related, but still would be a nice touch, so would a basket of fresh fruit)

I'll just go into the "Pet Friendly" categorization. When you check in they say - that will be an extra $75. Does that mean they pay their house cleaners an extra $25 an hour for three hours to clean up any possible dog hair we left in a pet friendly room?
And while many "pet friendly" hotels have a dog pad and a dog treat on the table in the room - not here. For $75??

Stayed in the 1 bedroom suite for 4 nights. I have stayed in this hotel many times, and the service has continued to decline significantly. We thought and gave excuses as it was ‘Covid’, not this time. Housekeeping did not appear on 2 out of 3 days despite the sign and our absence from the room. We asked to speak to the General Manager on Thursday and Friday, (we were still at the Hotel during this time as we prepaid at arrival), no response, we texted some ‘anonymous’ customer service person who explained that Housekeeping MAY NOT BE ABLE TO DIFFERENTIATE between the side that says ‘Do Not Disturb’ v. ‘Please make up room’…Seriously!
Still no response from the General Manager “Aaron” the entire time.
I have stayed in that Hotel on at least a dozen occasions AND I have held my daughters wedding at this same Venue.
This type of indifference at this Hotel needs to stop…but again indifference means that they simply do not care.

The Toll House is attractive and very well-located but there are serious lapses in service and amenities that can be easily improved. No bathmats in slippery tub, no one to light heaters outside, tables and chairs in outdoor public areas and on private balconies dirty and untended. No downtown maps available at front desk to name a few. Staff, however, were very pleasant.

80% of the guests I saw in this hotel were not wearing masks, and I had to ask the hotel staff to say something each time. If you are concerned about Covid 19, this is not the hotel for you. Also, the walls between the rooms are super thin, the person next door to me was watching tv (at a very normal volume), and it was like they were watching it in my room. The internet did not work, and staff couldn't fix it. Also there were piles bedding in the halls (see picture).

Staff was good, but they were not able/willing to lay down the law with regards to wearing masks (signs were posted all over the hotel, and people were completely ignoring them!). I felt very unsafe in this hotel and I felt the hotel cared more about not bothering customers than the health & safety of all guests.

Response from Abel Veloz, General Manager at Toll House Hotel
Responded Sep 22, 2020
Dear rassheim, I really appreciate you taking the time to provide your feedback and concerns. Please let me take this time share that our hotel stays current and up to date with all Covid-19 business protocols for our area. As you mentioned, we have ample signage and video in the hotel about masks and other Covid-19 requirements. We notify all of our guests at check in that we require face masks in all public spaces. Our staff has been trained to politely address guests that are seen without a mask and to remind them of these requirements. In regards to the linen, as part of our contactless experience, we are not entering into guest rooms unless it is arranged or absolutely necessary. During your stay we became home to many local fire evacuees, some having to stay for weeks. They would place their linen outside for us to collect to minimize our cleaning staff from having to enter their room. Since your visit, many of them have checked out and we are not seeing the amounts of linen for us to gather outside in the hall. I will personally follow up on the internet issues as we have a very new system. Thank you again for sharing and I can assure you that we have and will continue to do our part to get through this pandemic. If there is anything I can do further, please do not hesitate to contact me at 408-395-7070 Respectfully, Abel Veloz General Manager

Don't believe any of the beautiful pictures you see on the website. The ONLY positive about this hotel is the location. If I could give his hotel a "0" rating I would because there is no service, no ambiance, no F&B (except for complimentary empty coffee machines by 8AM), no hot water most of the time. 4 requests for early housekeeping (attending a 4 PM wedding) were ignored after telling us "of course". What looked online like a gorgeous patio is instead a few filthy, torn-up couches badly in need of replacement. Signage is torn down from the hallways, perhaps mid-replacement. Walls in room are all 1970's orange peel texture and completely empty walls. Stay at a Courtyard or Holiday Inn at half the price for a better experience.

I stayed in room 133 at Toll House last week for a wedding and was awoke before 7am by a construction worker having a speaker phone video call outside my room that continued for at least 30 min. I spoke to what I assume was the same construction worker later that day as I saw him outside the room next to mine with a new toilet and other parts and told him I hoped he wasn’t about to start banging around bc I had just put my baby to sleep and he had already work her up that morning. He did not seem to care that he might be disturbing my family with two small kids. This continued for our 4 day stay at the hotel. I have no idea why a hotel would do construction on the rooms right around ours during our stay. I completely understand that construction needs to happen but the hotel was in no way full and this wing should have been closed during early morning and all day into the evening drilling and banging. The outside terrace never had evening lighting turned on which was was also a bummer. And the restaurant was never open during our stay. Super disappointed. Other than that I did love the location of hotel but they should definitely do better for the price of their rooms.

Nice hotel in the heart of Los Gatos. Very close to many restaurants and shops. Hotel was quiet and clean.

My 3rd-floor room had a walk-out balcony which overlooked a small wooded area. It was quiet and clean. Received a couple of bottles of water and some snacks on check in.

My only complaint about the hotel was the lack of an espresso machine and the lack of gluten-free options at breakfast. But these are obviously minor. Overall impression warrants 5 stars.
