Downtown
Downtown Los Angeles is a busy metropolis of towering buildings, bustling streets, and industrial warehouses. There is a distinct multiplicity of cultures here with a growing influx of business professionals and hipsters. Many call the evolution of Downtown over recent years gentrification. New lofts, bars, hotels and restaurants are popping up regularly. Downtown is home to some of the very best restaurants in the city leading the LA foodie scene, plus it is the location of cultural and sports venues including the Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Staples Center, and the Coliseum at the University of Southern California.

We always stay at the intercontinental and love the hotel. However, upon check in we had a few issues with our room. Employee Derrick Reynolds was extremely kind, professional and understanding. Derrick acknowledged that my wife was a disabled veteran and went above and beyond to make her feel valued. Employees like Derrick will keep us coming back!! Thank you!!!

I've always wanted to stay at the Intercontinental Hotel in Downtown LA, so I decided to book there for one night, for my fiance and I. Located in the heart of Downtown LA, on the corner of 7th and Figueroa, this is believed to be the tallest building in Los Angeles, spirling over 73 floors of beautiful city and mountain views. Parking is located on 7th Street side, not on Wilshire. You can pull your vehicle into the valet area, where they'll take your keys and issue you a parking ticket. Do note: there is a $50.60 fee, and parking is serviced by AAA Parking Service, a vendor for the hotel. Once you drop your vehicle off at the valet, you'll take the elevator to Level One. You'll be greeted by a doorman who will direct you to the hotel lobby, located on the 70th floor. Due to COVID19, do note that hotel is majorly short-staffed, and when arriving on the 70th floor, you pickup the desk phone, and an attendant will meet you at the check-in registration desk, to process your check-in completion. Try to take some neat photos of the city panoramic style as it's absolutely breathtaking. We were assigned to room 5724 in the beginning, but was later changed to 5723. You will read the reasons why, later on. From the 70th floor, take another elevator over to the 57th floor. We entered in room 5724, and it had majestic views of Los Angeles. The room itself was clean, for the most part. It was very modern, with comfortable beds, and nice amenities to it--a large bathtub that can fit two easily, a toilet in a separate room off the toilet, and a control center that can change your lights and mood of the room. Unfortunately, this is where the reduced stars come in. My fiance and I went down to the pool to catch some sun and fun, and after we were done with the pool, we came back to the room to take a nap. We found some dried blood, from whoever slept there before us, and immediately called the guest services. This was a bit shocking because for such a high end hotel resort, finding stained dried blood was not welcoming nor pleasant to see. We also noticed that the toilet room lights were not working, which was a bit of a concern to us. We requested for a change of rooms on the same floor, given we were tired and didn't want to use multiple elevators just to change rooms. In addition, the room television is nice--be able to connect to your smartphone with "get connected tv" so if you have a Netflix account, you can connect your smart phone to the hotel tv and watch your favorite movies--we thoroughly enjoyed it. In the bathroom, I found that the light switches were quite difficult to push--not user friendly. In addition, the lights kept flickering--quite annoying and frustrating. We switched over to the room next door, to room 5723, which was just fine--same exact layout with same views. Later on in the evening, we decided to order food from ubereats as no food service facilities were available, due to the pandemic. Keep in mind/tip: if you order ubereats, have the driver meet you at floor 70, hotel lobby level, and not ground level. The pool facilities were overall clean, although did find some litter around the pool. It wasn't a big deal since I understand that there may have been staffing cuts due to COVID19. The gym was quite impressive--massive and lots of machines to choose from. Excellent facility. Overall, I was impressed with the hotel--location is awesome, the room was somewhat clean, but deeply disappointed that the bed stains contained dried blood. Again, I'm not going to be super paranoid about this, but at a 5 star level hotel, these areas should not be overlooked. Service was nonetheless phenomenal and they went above and beyond what I had expected. I would consider staying here, especially if the food/bar/club services are available after the pandemic is over. Overall grade: B

Hi Bobbo00, Thank you for choosing to stay with us and for posting a candid review. I am so happy that you appreciated our views, facility, and our location. While that may be the case, I was also concerned to read your comments about the blood stains and the bathroom lights. I understand your dismay and I am sorry. This is not the InterContinental life that we wanted for all our guests. I will make sure to share your comments with our team for necessary improvements needed on our end. Thanks again, and we can't wait to see you again once this pandemic is over. Mike F. Case Manager IHGService

Stayed there for two nights as part of a series of company meetings, where we spent most of the time in the hotel. The highlights: 1) the views from the 70th floor lobby are amazing; 2) the rooftop bar (note: food was good too) had even better views; 3) the room was high quality and comfortable; 4) the Internet was fast; 5) the fitness center was gigantic; and, 6) it is walking distance from Staples Center and LA Live. In short, I would stay there again in a heartbeat.

In the heart of Downtown Los Angeles, the Intercontinental offers a very modern space for business and/or leisure. Surrounded by shops and restaurants, the hotel is only a few minutes’ walk from the Metro Rail station. Checking in, on the 70th floor, was smooth. With the Lobby Lounge located to the side of reception, it was a very busy and loud area when we arrived, with many people enjoying food and drinks. My room, a King Deluxe, was very big and spacious with floor to ceiling windows and great views. The bathroom was equally comfortable with a bathtub and separate shower and the trademark Intercontinental Agraria amenities. Breakfast was served at Dekkadance, one floor below reception. There were both buffet and a la carte options all of which were freshly prepared and served. There was also a wide choice of food for special dietary requirements. The staff were mostly excellent and attentive and the views, again, spectacular. The hotel has a rooftop swimming pool which was quiet when we visited in the middle of the day. The No Dive Bar was open serving alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks. Overall, it was a very enjoyable stay and wouldn’t hesitate staying here again, both for the area and the hotel.

I came here on the 20th of December 2019 to 25 December 2019. My experience with this hotel was the best, After a long flight I was exhausted and they opened our car doors and greeted us with a warm smile and answered all our questions and they carefully took our luggage and I was surprised that the lobby was on the 70th floor, I am scared of closed spaces so that was the only drawback. The view even at night was amazing! The checkout process was very fast and the bar and the lounge area looked like a wonderful place to hangout. We walked into our room (50th floor). It was shocking! I had never seen a room this big and the bed was so comfy, i fell asleep the minute I walked in. I had a wonderful time staying here and when I come back to LA again in a couple of years, I will only stay here.
