My team and I had a great experience when we traveled to Los Angeles for a work project last year. The hotel ambience, from the beautiful high floors for check in, to the luxury suite rooms, to the rooftop dinners for sunset all attributed to a wonderful experience. Also, staying at the Intercontinental DTLA gave us the perfect location to hit all parts of LA. Our team definitely recommends staying here during your next trip to LA.

Hotel's Favorite
When I made the reservation, I did not know that I will experience the best sunset and sunrise views in the same room, or that going to the gym will feel like visiting a nightclub (I will explain that later!) My Executive suite (#5819) was a corner unit on the 58th floor that boasted unobstructed horizon views in three directions, including the view of the Pacific Ocean and Santa Monica Mountains. The suite was roomy, bright and full of light due to floor-to-ceiling windows. I never closed the curtains because I wanted to continually explore the scenery and point out my favorite LA landmarks, helicopter landings and roof-top swimming pools. The valet service was very efficient. The check-in on the 70th floor was a breeze. The sleek lobby felt upscale with some extravagant interior decor pieces, including leather chairs and bar stools that stood out against the cocktail lounge’s Italian marble. They provided both comfort and style to the space.  My suite was impeccably clean and quiet. The king size bed was very comfortable and the concierge service was swift and contactless (I needed a lot of extra Nespresso capsules to stay awake to enjoy all the hotel amenities.) The Attitude fitness center was open 24 hours, and although I am not a gym goer, I went to the fitness center twice and I told myself that I would join the gym immediately if all gyms looked like this one. The lighting was spectacular giving out the trendy night-club vibes and I had a unique experience rather than a mundane workout.  In the morning, I decided to check out the pool deck on the 7th floor.  The water was nice and warm and I enjoyed swimming in it. I spent my day relaxing while enjoying urban rooftop views, and I felt all the worries and stress dissipate. Who knew I would be sunbathing in December. And, of course, I didn’t want to leave.

My closest friends and I have been staying at the Intercontinental Los Angeles for many years now but sadly, Covid has had a very negative effect on the hotel. As my title suggests, the IC Los Angeles is nothing more than a limited service property currently and I truly mean it: you can't even buy a soft drink at the hotel for lunch or dinner because all venues are closed. Whilst the staff remains wonderful, there isn't much they can do as there is no room service, no restaurants or bars open, and there aren't any snack or vending machines at the hotel. For breakfast, there is a tiny cafe open on the first level of the hotel but you would be limited to hot beverages and pastries; for lunch and dinner, you will have zero options at the hotel. Also, I found my room to have long strips of hair from previous guests on the desk and the bathroom in particular didn't appear clean to IC standards. Overall, a very disappointing stay and we will be booking the Waldorf Astoria next time knowing that other luxury hotels are still striving to provide a decent level of dining.

Dear Private G, Thank you for choosing the InterContinental Los Angeles Downtown during your recent visit to the city, we appreciate your patronage. I am sorry to hear you didn't enjoy your stay. With the current restrictions imposed on us by the Public Health Department, we are not allowed to offer any in-door dining and temporarily had to close our F&B offerings. We look forward to reopening select outlets in April including Room Service as restrictions but the City of Los Angeles are lifted. I fully understand how this has negatively impacted your stay, and I apologize. Your comments related to the cleanliness are an unacceptable violation of our cleanliness standards, and we will have a full review on our procedures to avoid anything like this from reoccurring in future. I will also reach out to you privately to discuss your stay and experience with us and I look forward to speaking with you. Kind Regards, Matthias Kaiser Director of Rooms matthias.kaiser@ihg.com

We stayed at the Intercontinental for 6 nights while settling my son into college. The hotel was immaculate, following safety guidelines. Our room was beautiful with extremely comfortable beds and pillows, in addition to an incredible view of Los Angeles. Mr. Niles Harris and his staff were exceptional, providing great service with a personal touch. Everyone from the front desk agents, housekeeping, to security were friendly and helpful. Although the dine in restaurants were not available, we enjoyed room service and the array of nearby dining options with delivery. Thanks to lovely California weather, we enjoyed the refreshing pool and sun deck. The hotel was absolutely beautiful and well managed. I look forward to staying at the Intercontinental on future visits to LA throughout my sons college career.
