Many positives: The hotel is within walking distance of UCLA as well as shops, cafés, and restaurants. It also offers free parking, which is a big plus, even though the parking is pretty cramped. The rooms are reasonably updated, clean, and a good size. Our room had a small table with chairs, as well as a microwave and a fridge. Free breakfast -with coffee, tea, milk, a small selection of cereals, toast, bagels, and an automatic pancake maker- comes with the room. Checking in and out was easy and fast.
A few negatives: Front desk staff tended to be short and a little gruff at times. A real hassle was the loud noise from the large ice maker in the hallway that woke us up during the night when the cooling intermittently came on, or someone got ice very early in the morning . The laundry room is right next to the ice maker, and the breakfast room is also nearby. All of this together can make for a considerable noise level that sometimes begins as early as 6am. For a more quiet stay, it's best to get a room as far away as possible from this area, towards the back of the building.
Overall, it was a good place to stay for a relatively short visit.

This low key hotel provided everything we needed for a health-related visit to a nearby hospital. Clean, quiet, spacious room, attentive staff that provided what we needed. Decent free breakfast. FREE PARKING.
The quality of this experience was superb.

Thank you very much for taking the time to review your stay at the Royal Palace Westwood Hotel. I am very happy to hear that you found the quality of your experience to be superb. We strive to exceed the expectations of each and every guest and glad to hear your positive comments about your stay. On free parking and no resort fees, that goes to our philosophy of being a value hotel and not having to do something just because most of our competitor hotels are doing so. We are looking to the long term and have quite a number of repeat guests. Just feel this is the better way to go then "nickel and dimeing" guests for everything and only thinking about today and the short-term. Thank you for your business.

After a horrible day and a fiasco at another hotel, I was greeted by Jazmin (Sorry if I spelled your name wrong...already forgot if it was spelled with an S or Z) at the front desk. She was professional and welcoming. The check-in process was quick, with no surprise fees (i.e. resort fee, deposit or valet). She even offered to upgrade my room, but I was content with the room by the front desk. The room was quaint, clean and cozy. Just what I needed after a rather stressful day with a lot of dead ends. The bed was comfortable and the tv was way bigger than my tv at home. Definitely will be staying here when back in town.

While the hotel is convenient to UCLA, I have to admit the hotel has gone down hill. It definitely needs a paint job and an overall touch up. Staff are accommodating and helpful but our hotel room smelled of smoke this time even though no smoking is allowed inside. During COVID they have a free breakfast bag that has the basics. It is one of the less expensive hotels in the area but hopefully they will update soon.

Very well located hotel. Strategic to be able to go to the Universal studios Hollywood boulevard, Beverly Hills, Santa Monica and to end up going to the airport. However, the rooms are very dated like many places in the United States. Also noisy air conditioning like in many hotels in the United States. Obviously, in motels, they must have packages for Maids, they should not pay the toilet seat package, since they were dirty when I arrived and I had to clean it with my disinfectant wipes which I never separate me! The toilet flush was broken when we arrived. There is certainly parking, but the spaces are cramped. The advantage is that it is located next to a pizzeria where you can have your pizzas. And eat them in your room since there is a four-seater table. Breakfast is minimalist. In fact, take it for granted. You pay here for the strategic location. But you won't find yourself there either by the quality of the breakfast or by the quality of the hotel. Since there is no exterior and no swimming pool. It was a strategic choice for me because I didn't have much time in Los Angeles. But if I had to come to Los Angeles for more than 36 hours, I would choose somewhere less central with a swimming pool and a real breakfast with a choice of savory foods.

I go to LA several times a year and I just discovered this hotel that does not pay for outside mines. Yet the rooms are spacious, very clean and the bed very comfortable (I booked two rooms, the first I had a very large bed which was huge). The only downside being that I had a flushing problem one day. Apart from that, the staff is very accommodating, the service women very polite and the hotel offers a simple and very honest breakfast with as much toast as you like, pancakes, fruit. And what I love: parking included, now parking prices in LA are getting more and more expensive so it's a huge advantage. I will definitely come back!

If you are not driving, I would strongly recommend this hotel for spacious, well-appointed rooms that are a really good bargain. But if you have a car to park, avoid it like the plague! The parking spaces are the narrowest I have ever seen, and the cars are crammed together so tightly that mishaps seem almost inevitable. I spent my whole stay worried sick that I would suffer door dings or that a car would park next to me that would block my entrance. Also, most of the parking spaces open to an alley, which left me very concerned about security, especially when homeless people were huddled in the parking space right next to my car. Street parking is not an option, as it is limited to two hours. As much as I liked my room, I would never consider staying here again.

Response from Mark Beccaria, Owner at Royal Palace Westwood
Responded Nov 30, 2022
Dear richardrss1, Thank your for taking the time to provide a review on your stay at the Royal Palace Westwood Hotel. I am glad to hear you found our rooms to be spacious, well appointed and a really good bargain. Please accept my sincere apology with regard to the parking spaces being on the small side. On top of our rooms being a good bargain, we are happy to be one of the few hotels in Los Angeles that provides complimentary parking. The hotel next door to us happens to charge $46.20 per night and their only option is valet parking. If you would have let us know your concern about the parking, we could have reserved one of the larger parking spaces for you during your stay. I hope you will reconsider staying at our hotel the next time you are in Los Angeles and giving us the opportunity to provide you with a parking space that meets your expectations. Please know we greatly appreciate your business.

I chose this hotel because it is within walking distance to the UCLA campus. The room was spacious and clean. The bed was comfortable. Our room was on the 3rd floor and had skylights in the ceiling,
There is a small kitchenette with a microwave , sink, and fridge. My only complaint is the kitchen chairs. The faux leather was damaged in 3 of 4 chairs.
Breakfast consists of bagels, toast , cereal, oatmeal, pancakes, fruit, coffee, tea , juice, and yogurt. They give you trays so you can take the breakfast up to your room.
Parking is free, but is tight. It is better suited for a smaller vehicle.
The carpet in the hallways is old, dated, but clean.
We would stay here again if we’ll be visiting UCLA.

Thank you, Robert for helping me get a room. You are wonderful. Thank you to all the staff that helped us with my husband. You are so kind. I love this hotel and so lucky to have found this hotel. it’s so nice to have a suite with a beautiful patio or the balcony is wonderful also. The breakfast is fabulous. My husband loves the pancake machine. They’re so thoughtful of this hotel. They even have sugar-free syrup for the pancakes. I hope you get to enjoy this hotel as much as we did, we have been here a few times and we always feel like we’re so lucky since we have to go to Ucla medical for my husband‘s treatment. also very easy to get the Shuttle Ucla medical you don’t even have to drive. The parking is included with the rate of your hotel no extra or hidden fees.

Almost a gem. You will have hard time to get something cheaper in this area. It is well maintained. Things I could do without: The service at the front desk at night (during the morning it is great) and the lack of wifi coverage in some areas in the room.

There is no longer a shuttle from LAX to Westwood. The best way to get to our hotel from the airport is either a taxi or Uber/Lyft. The best way to travel around Los Angeles is with a rental car. The Royal Palace Westwood offers free parking.
