I don't know how many of the problems were due to a hotel workers strike, but they were woefully unprepared for a large convention! Only 2 registration desk employees at 3PM check in for over 450 registrants on top of regular guests! Only 3 bellhops on duty not to mention not enough carts so guests could schlep their own luggage. ! AC totally inadequate, not enough valets, inadequate parking, not to mention that the road in back to the parking lot was torn up requiring a trip around the block. Over an hour to get a cart, half an hour to get checked in, long waits for elevators. The walkway to the conference room smelled musty, and our paper items were actually getting damp! I could go on but I think you get the picture.

hotel as a sort of divine punishment. had to wait for an hour for an airport shuttle. when the shuttle got to my terminal it was already full, and had to leave more than 1/2 of those waiting at the curb behind. check-in was the stuff of nightmares with rooms running out for passengers with airline vouchers (with the recieptionist explaining that there were rooms available just not for passengers with airline vouchers). the act of setting up a waiting list for the doomed passengers an unspeakable chaos. as the final flourish: the hotel beds are lumpy uneven and strange and feel like a leaky water bed (maybe it is just my room).

Flight got canceled and needed a place to stay. The gateway is a two minute drive from LAX. The hotel also provides a complimentary shuttle. The food was good. The rooms were modern. My favorite part was the fitness center.

Stayed here for one night before an AM flight. Booked two rooms and was able to get them connecting. Valet service was excellent, and allowed me to leave our rental vehicle curbside, while we got the family check in and settled in room. Budget return location, only two blocks away, so was able to walk back after dropping car off. Front desk was great, check in was quick and easy, although mid day on a holiday weekend didn't hurt with that. Rooms were as advertised. Not huge, but comfortable. Used the lobby restaurant which offered a limited menu. Our family of four had four different meals, and each was above average. This property is big, with a large lobby and meeting rooms available. Valet service was excellent, and allowed me to leave our rental vehicle curbside, while we got the family check in and settled in room. Slept pretty well, although woke up to beating drums and chants outside the hotel, apparently from local hotel worker union protest. That was a bummer, but not a deal breaker. Used the shuttle to get to the airport. Shuttle come every 15 minutes, but plan on 30 minutes from hotel to terminals 5-6-7, during peak travel times. Would use this hotel again before a departure or a late arrival.

It's a nice hotel sure. Pleasant lobby and rooms. Decent restaurant. But the checkin line at 11pm is an hour long. And the woman in line in front of me waited an hour for the shuttle to pick her up and bring her here! Sheraton, get your act together!

We had a one-night stay in anticipation of an early flight out of LAX. The hotel is big. The lobby is impressive--spacious and clean. The reception people are friendly and efficient. The bellhop helpful with answers to a bunch of logistical questions. The price was acceptable. Our room was fresh and large with a comfortable bed and mattress that allowed a restful night's sleep. All good. So why not a five-star review? Okay, there were some minor irritants and a couple that could've been major problems: the shower had no grab bars or non-skid mat, but it did have a slippery floor. That could've been an issue. There were signs everywhere for in-hotel pizza as a dinner option. That sounded good and we were hungry. But they stopped serving pizza many days before we checked in (oops! somebody forgot to take down the signs). So instead of eating in the hotel (the dinner options were not particularly appetizing and when we asked what the soup of the day was, nobody knew. Honestly, the server brought us a sample but didn't know what the soup was) we walked to the Sonesta next door and got one of their pizzas. IIt was very good.) And then the big error, the one that could've been a major problem: we asked for a wake-up call for 6:45 am. The gentleman at the front desk said "Got it." But he didn't. We never got the wake-up call. Fortunately, we woke up on our own in time and made our flight. But we have no confidence in their wake-up call system. We got an apology but that would not have helped much if we were left standing and watching our plane take off without us. On the other hand, the hotel is very close to the airport and the shuttle bus was quick.

The hotel staff is very friendly and the airport shuttle is consistently on time. On the negative side, the public areas of this Sheraton are in desperate need of renovations, especially the carpets. Guest rooms are comfortable, though the air conditioning is noisy and takes unusually long times to cool.

Terrible hotel. It is old, tired and dirty. Rugs were full of stains. Only 2 or 3 of the 6 elevators worked, so a 10 minute wait time for an elevator was common. The entire hotel ran out of hot water and all of our conference attendees had to take freezing cold showers. Breakfast was terrible, cold powdered eggs, undercooked potatoes, soggy bacon and greasy sausage links and nothing else. You couldn't ask for coffee and OJ, they only gave you one for the $25 price tag. At the end of our conference there was a happy hour. They had a single bar with one bar tender for 650 people, needless to say very few were able to get a drink. 1 roll of toilet paper in the rooms bathroom and on a 4 day stay they never once cleaned then room or replaced the toilet paper, luckily there was a box of kleenex. The non-smoking room stank like smoke. The $20 hamburger at the bar was tiny and the waiter was rude. Stayed here at a conference but I would never stay at this hotel if I had a choice. Surprised to see a Sheraton offer such a terrible experience.

I missed a connection at LAX, so the airline comped me one night at the Sheraton Gateway so I can take the next available flight the following morning. It was early in the morning and was told that I couldn't check-in until later in the afternoon, but decided to try anyways since I had to drop my bags. I took the free shuttle from the airport to the hotel and on arrival, lined up for a few minutes. The person helping me was incredibly helpful and efficient, and was checked-in faster than I expected. I went to my room, and found it was fairly plan. Clean, but a bit worn. Bed was comfortable enough, and AC was working well. WiFi worked fine for my needs. No complaints about the room I did try the Costero restaurant twice, since I had airline meal vouchers to use and was told it was easier to use at the hotel. For lunch, the place was way understaffed. I sat down, and no one noticed me for 15 minutes. When they finally did notice, I placed my order and thankfully, the food came out in a normal time. Not great tasting, but acceptable. At dinner, it wasn't busy, but I ate the pizza, and it was terrible. I'm glad the food was free, because if I had paid my with my own money, I would've been quite upset. I was told my airline voucher would work at Starbucks, but when I tried, they didn't accept it. Overall, my stay was fine. The hotels is conveniently located close to the airport, and my room was acceptable. Just stay away from the restaurant.

Lost a personal and valuable item. Called from over seas to speak to the lost and found but it was difficult process. Either no one answered or was disconnected. Both costed international rate for me. Took many attempts. When I was able to reach the person, I was notified no such item was turned in. It was my fault that I left my thing on the desk but I was hoping that the housekeeping would turn it in. Maybe I was naive.
