This hotel is located near the library in the centre of town. The hotel rooms are clean and quiet so I slept well in the very comfortable bed. The bathroom is quite spacious and well appointed. Overall a pleasant stay in an historic upgraded property.

The rooms were of a good size inclusive of the bathroom. They were well appointed and the location of the hotel was ok. The service at front desk and concierge was excellent. No breakfast (or at least I didn't find it). The location of the hotel is good, although it tends to be a cab type town.

Stayed here during a recent trip to LA and was quite impressed. Conveniently located in LA's Financial District, the property is close to the Fashion District, LA Live, and the Disney Concert Hall, among other attractions. I loved the ornate exterior, which was originally built as the Mayflower Hotel in 1927. The public areas are luxurious and there is a...

I have stayed at lots of Hiltons and this one was really a nice surprise. The hotel is quite small (for L.A.), with maybe 10 rooms on a floor, and 15 floors or so. Rooms were on the small size, but well-priced. Parking was a bit pricey ($42/nite), but hey, it's downtown so deal with it. Lots of restaurants within...

Stayed here two nights. Great location in downtown area, near Pershing Square, near a bunch of cool, hip restaurants like Bottega Louie and Industriel. The hotel itself is modest in size. Lobby is small and narrow...not a hang around type space. The bar/lounge area is nicely tucked away with plush sofas and chairs. The valet was very courteous and helpful,...

I arrived by train and stayed for most of the day at the hotel and its environs awaiting for a late-night flight. The staff is friendly, courteous, professional and knowledgeable: they go out of their way to help and make guests' stays more enjoyable. I have no complaints about the hotel. My only critique is stylistic: for such a classic...

I stayed at this hotel for a recent convention in LA. The hotel was a typical Hilton with the normal amenities. I liked the lobby bar and breakfast restaurant. My only constructive comments are the tv channel options on the treadmills was poor (only a handful of stations with no HD). Also, I looked forward to using the rooftop deck,...

I am glad you had a great stay with us at Hilton Checkers Los Angeles. Stayed for 2 nights at this hotel. It was spotlessly clean and everything was to the high standard one would expect from a Hilton Hotel. Moved out to a very much larger room (triple the size) at the Biltmore Milenium across the road because the price was lower.

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown
Downtown Los Angeles is a busy metropolis of towering buildings, bustling streets, and industrial warehouses. There is a distinct multiplicity of cultures here with a growing influx of business professionals and hipsters. Many call the evolution of Downtown over recent years gentrification. New lofts, bars, hotels and restaurants are popping up regularly. Downtown is home to some of the very best restaurants in the city leading the LA foodie scene, plus it is the location of cultural and sports venues including the Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Staples Center, and the Coliseum at the University of Southern California.
