I stayed at the Omni hotel this past holiday weekend for an overnight staycation. Not knowing downtown Los Angeles very well, I wanted a hotel that offered some conveniences near some sites. Omni was a perfect location. They have a bridge that leads to the street level for the BROAD and MOCA museums, and easy access to the Grand Market. I called the hotel prior to booking and spoke to Guest Service Agent, Prime. He provided a wealth of information about the hotel and surrounding area, the most important being, “book club level. It’s the best and will save you money,” which I did. The hotel only has valet parking, which was fine with me. On the day of arrival, the valet, Ramon helped me with my bags making me feel welcome right away. As he led me to the front desk, he let me know that Omni offers a courtesy town car that will take me anywhere downtown that I need to go and pick me up to bring me back to the hotel. That is the convenience I was looking for. As soon as I entered the hotel an aroma of freshness was in the air. It was a lovely, light fragrance that immediately put me in a good mood. At the front desk, Prime was there to greet me, who explained that the Club level had a lounge that offered free food and drinks until 9P. Breakfast in the morning as well. He also mentioned they had a restaurant on site, a pool and fitness center. Upon entering the room, I immediately checked out the bathroom. It was very clean, stocked well with toiletries, towels and a blow dryer. The room decor was current but not overly done. There were multiple outlets and USB ports near each bed. It had a small refrigerator and you could request a microwave from housekeeping. There were a couple of bottles of water there for me. I had a nice view of the city, museums and Disney Hall. I had asked for a couple more bottles of water. Brandy from housekeeping was there within 5-7 mins, friendly and professional, and she was sure to ask if I needed anything else. I later realized I forgot my toothpaste, went down to the front desk to see if they had a courtesy packet. As I approached, a gentleman that hadn’t helped me previously, called me by my proper name, and asked if he could help me with something. I instantly felt like a celebrity. When I asked for the toothpaste, he offered a toothbrush as well which I thanked him for but declined. Instead of going out for dinner, I went to the Club Lounge where they had a great spread of fresh cut up veggies, fruit, cheese, crackers and hummus. There were little triangular meat pockets that were served with a sweet and sour sauce. They also had lamb chops, rice, and steamed cauliflower. Dessert was coconut macaroons, and a variety of tea cakes. As for beverages, water, coffee, tea, soda, juice, beer, wine, and a bar cart where you could make your own mixed drinks. I ate and drank my money’s worth for sure, taking my time while I watched a movie. The lounge attendant made you feel at home and kept the food coming. I had a good nights rest. The beds were comfortable with plenty of fluffy pillows. I got up a little late for breakfast. By the time I got to the Club Lounge, it was closing in 15 mins. There was no more bread for toast. So I went to the 3rd floor where they have the restaurant that serves a buffet breakfast on Sundays with traditional breakfast but also crab, shrimp and other over the top deliciousness. But I just needed toast for my avocado toast. The restaurant was happy to provide it to me since the Lounge ran out. Checkout was super simple. The front desk called for my car from valet so when I got outside, I waited no more than a few minutes for my car. Yes, the room was a little bit pricey. But it’s worth it to know that I’m staying in a clean, well maintained hotel, where the staff will provide outstanding service, that offers many conveniences, along with special little perks like brownies at check-in, a fruit bowl with apples, extra waters, and who knows what else I missed. More importantly, I’m worth it! Why not treat myself to an above average staycation! I’ll definitely be back and treat my mom to a staycation at the Omni.…
