Although the hotel upgraded their public spaces a few years ago, the room we were in (1806) was showing its age. First, the HVAC unit had to run all night to keep the room from heating up. The unit was quite noisy and kept waking us up. This even after the engineer supposedly came by to "fix" the unit. Not sure if this is the case for all rooms, but be aware as the room windows do not open. Second, the bathroom was a bit funky. See photos. We haven't been in a supposedly 4 star hotel with a shower curtain shower/tub combi in quite awhile! On food, the free morning coffee was very weak. Yuck! You had to order from a counter and the meal was brought to the table. Finally, for happy hour, my wife, who is a chardonnay drinker, thought their wine selection was not very good, again considering they claim to be a 4-star hotel in LA. Yes, the hotel is a walk to Westwood Village and UCLA, and yes, there is little to choose from in this immediate area, but next time in LA, we are staying somewhere else. This is LA, after all, and every visitor has a car. The Kimpton brand seems to be fading, perhaps since the IHG purchase? Prior to this, we had only stayed at a Kimpton Hotel

The Kimpton Hotel Palomar greatly exceeded my expectations. In coordinating a space for a videography shoot with their Director, Donald Chock, he and the entire staff honored every request and wish, none too big or small. To say they went above and beyond is not enough. As an overnight guest, the high service continued. The team at their bar/restaurant 'Double Take' dazzled us with their smiles, service, and mixology. Given that the hospitality industry is short staffed overall, and we are opening up from a pandemic, the Kimpton Hotel Palomar did not miss a beat. If you are looking to stay in the Beverly Hills/Los Angeles area, this is a WIN WIN!

This is the first bad review that I ever give to a hotel globally - considering that I travel for work for a few month every year, this probably could tell you how bad the experience was. 1. I have been to the hotel a few years back - it was not bad, which is the reason that I come back - so if I had any biased view about it, it's on the positive side. 2. The room smells the first day I checked in (mixture of smoke and mold) - but the hotel staff told me firmly there is no alternative, so I just took it. I can't bear it after two days, so I called the hotel staff(after many different tries as they barely pick up the phone), they came and told me they will fix this. It become better the next day, but then back to the same smell after that... 3. There is almost no way to contact the hotel for service other than going down to the front desk and talk to them. There is a phone number they display everywhere in the hotel telling guests that they could just text the hotel for anything they need - but the fact is, they barely respond(1 out of 5, let’s say). A few occasions I just go down to the front desk and ask why they don’t respond, they have all kinds of excuses: “I just logged in” “I just came back from bathroom” - without a “sorry” at all. 4. There was one day that the cleaning lady didn’t come to my room to clean at all till 4pm - then she knocked the door. I told her I’m in a meeting that I can only let her clean at 6pm. She refused to, and 2 minutes later the hotel staff called me saying that won’t work. I asked why there was a whole day and they didn’t do the job, she is like “Then please talk to my manager about it” with a very bad attitude. 5. In general, I would say the service is very bad and the attitude of the hotel staff is horrendous. Guests pay 300+ USD per night for a good service in a good hotel, but what they gave is pretty much the opposite.

We loved this hotel. We are from the UK and upgraded to a suite which was lovely and in very good condition. The only criticism I had of the room was the loud ish aircon. Views were great. Bathroom very large. Service here is very good, quite a bit of that is down to the lovely helpful lady on reception and the other staff. Sorry I forget her name, I asked her for a business card but misplaced it. She was amazing. She had recently been moved from another Kimpton in LA if that helps identify her. Whilst many USA hotels now seem to have a ‘It’s too much hassle ‘ attitude, this hotel and this lady has a ‘can do’ attitude and they want to keep guests happy. Other staff also great. Loved the free beer and wine hour, they had some very nice IPA on, just wish they had given a bigger glass or the can, but you can go back for more. Very good location, in that you can walk out to Westwood Village to restaurants, or even the Cinema (very nice Cinema there where they do Hollywood premiers). Only a few miles down the road to Santa Monica, and close to the Interstate to go anywhere. Pool area nice and never too busy. Great gym and loved the Peloton bike. Liked free pool tables etc. Only downside was the bar closed at 9.15- for an Englishman this seemed weird. Overall for a family base for a vacation, this hotel is hard to beat. Ample car park attached. Even free charge points which was great because we had been given a plug in hybrid mini van by Avis- so saved on gas.

This is an older renovated property in a superb location and close to places we planned to visit, The hotel also has a great multi-storey self-park garage that can access the hotel lifts. As a result, I only went through the hotel lobby when I checked-in and checked-out during my stay. The main issue with this hotel is the A/C system: it is fairly old and makes a loud thump when the compressor kicks in, also the air vent is directed towards the bed making the temperature variation uncomfortable.

We enjoyed our stay and found it to be typically Kimpton, which is a good thing. Clean hotel with nice boutique touches throughout and with courteous, friendly staff. Location was good and we enjoyed our stay.

This was a quick 24-h visit to LA to take care of some paperwork. The hotel is alright, but nothing spectacular. It is clean and quiet and has an ok style in the rooms. That said, it could’ve been maintained in a better condition (e.g. the mirror in my bathroom had cracks on it, sideboards and doors were in poor shape too). There is no coffee/water/tea in the room, which I did not expect for a hotel that positions itself the way Kimpton does. Room service in the evening was not available either. So if you arrive late (as I did), you are stuck with Uber eats or lobby grab’n’go very, very limited choices. Also, yes, keep in mind you get a $29 amenities fee (which is somewhat offset by a $15 voucher that you can apply to pay for parking, food, etc.)
