This place is temporarily closed. The Mayfair Hotel Los Angeles is a hidden gem located in Downtown Los Angeles. Built in 1926 and renovated in 2018, the hotel expertly weaves the art-deco aesthetics of the roaring 20s with edgy cultural elements of modern Los Angeles. The Mayfair is where adventurous spirits come to have spirited adventures – a haven that attracts and creates culture. From artists and musicians to writers and performers, the crowd is always an eclectic mix of tastemakers and life tasters. The rooms are newly renovated and amenitized for all business, leisure and entertainment needs, and feature contemporary interiors with stunning views of the iconic LA skyline or the beautiful Hollywood Hills. In the breathtaking lobby, enjoy a cocktail at M Bar or bites from the bar menu. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served daily at LOCALA Kitchen+Bar, showcasing the talents of Chef Karo Patpatyan, an LA-born, French-taught and Spago-trained chef whose cuisine takes inspiration from the multi-cultural communities of his native Los Angeles.

Detailed Reviews
I was not expecting the stylish lobby and bar when I entered The Mayfair Hotel for a business trip. The staff from the people that opened the door for me, to the check-in agents and even the maintenance or cleaning crews all said "Hello" and were genuinely proud of their beautiful hotel.
The location is a quick walk from shopping, restaurants, gyms, entertainment, the Los Angeles Convention Center, and virtually everything I wanted to do or see. No need for Uber or a car if you stay here. Other reviewers have said the area is somewhat sketchy, but I found it to be safe and active.
The room has a wonderful bed worthy of a five star hotel, every aspect of the room was clean, modern, and well maintained. Despite a busy street outside, I slept well and did not hear too much noise.
I will make The Mayfair Hotel my first choice for all of my Los Angeles trips from now on because of the high quality of the staff and environment, plus the unbeatable location.

My wife and I and a family friend stayed here the night before my surgery. It was so easy to walk two blocks for my 6:00 am hospital check in rather than have an early morning two hour drive from home. My wife could relax and sleep in her room instead of sitting all day in a waiting and sleeping on a cot in my hospital room.
Our rooms were well designed and extremely comfortable. It was very quiet.
All meals were taken in the hotel restaurant and the selections were very interesting and well prepared.
The decor is fantastic. Be sure to view the butterfly mural in the lobby.

This hotel fits a nice niche. A stay here will cost less than the other downtown hotels but makes sense given the off location. As a solo business traveler looking to put my head in a bed the room size is adequate. The guest service is top notch, kudos to the management and staff. My only complaint is the tiny size of the shower. I mean its very small and on the other hand the closets are large which I would rather have reversed. Regardless, if I am looking to stay for business there again I would here. Also the food in the restaurant went through a revamp recently (as I was told by the bartender) and tastes amazing. This helps because not many late options around here.

I have stayed at the Mayfair Hotel for the past 2 years as it was close to Good Samaritan Hospital where I teach several times a year. Since my first stay when the lobby was being remodeled I have been pleasantly surprised with each new change. The latest was the opening of the fitness room and pool. What a beautiful design and landscaping and view of the city skyline, especially at night from the pool! What an ideal place for a party or just to decompress after a long day. The original and diverse artwork at the hotel never fails to impress, which often changes and offers artists a showcase as some pieces are for sale. Each floor is unique and dynamic in terms of art. There was a great band I enjoyed in the bar on my last night and a warm and charming waitress, Nicole who served me. The help at the hotel is wonderful from the front desk (John was great in particular), porters, and valets who daily brought my car and doorman Manny who welcomed me by name. He has served me graciously the past 2 years and stated he has worked at this hotel for 20 years! When I had an issue with my room the first night (my neighbors partying at 12:30 pm loudly, they addressed the issue immediately and moved me to an upgraded deluxe room the next day at no charge). I love the convenience, personal service and feeling of being "home" when I stay at the Mayfair. Somehow they have managed to keep the elegance of the 1929 era that the hotel was built but made it contemporary and cutting edge with the art and other touches in a perfect blend for any age guest. It is also very affordable compared to other downtown hotels of similar stature and very clean with nice bedding. I recommend the Mayfair Hotel to tourists, business travelers, those wanting a romantic getaway or simply to have a fun evening eating at the great restaurant and enjoying the bar, pool view, and beautiful decor and art.

On arriving at this hotel about 7pm we were greeted by a lovely receptionist who checked us in. We went up to our room and ordered take out as we were exhausted from travelling.
The area surrounding the hotel felt a bit “dodgy” something I really didn’t expect given the price and decor of the hotel.
The room next to us started playing extremely loud music, which we ignored as it was only early evening.
Fast forward to 2.30am and we were woken by the same room starting to play loud music again and having a party. We tried phoning reception and no answer, no one was at the desk when we tried to get help, we even tried knocking on the door and to no avail. And so our first night in LA we had no sleep, ruining the following day for us also. The “party” went on until 6am, the people in that room had no consideration for anyone else and quite frankly what they were doing “LOUDLY” was embarrassing.
We spoke to our tour operator the following day as we felt so uncomfortable In the hotel and particularly our room. The hotel quickly moved us to another room and apologised, told us we should of called down to reception when it was happening, which of corse we did. Which again they apologised for.
The room we were moved to was “fine” a better view of downtown LA, it was clean. But we had a PULL OUT SOFA BED!! We didn’t complain again as quite frankly we just wanted to get through our time in LA and move on.
The staff were lovely and the hotel lobby beautiful, but I just don’t think that the main bed in a hotel room being a sofa bed is acceptable given we paid hundreds of pounds to stay here.
However the hotel did everything they could to help once we spoke to them on the desk regarding our noisy, inconsiderate neighbours!

Thank you for leaving us this review, we appreciate the feedback. Please accept our sincere apologies for the noise problem. We try to resolve these issues as quickly as possible in real time and sometimes, based on availability in the hotel, we are not able to accommodate the same room type for a room move. We are always working to improve upon our service standards and input like this from our guests is very helpful. Hopefully you will consider giving us another chance on your next visit to Los Angeles.

This is only a 10-12 minute walk to two metro stations & very close to downtown, so the location is very central. But the downside to that is the constant traffic noise from outside, it's basically as if you're trying to sleep with the windows open! I asked for a quiet room (which I doubt exist with the old windows) & although the room itself was spacious, there was only a double pull out sofa bed for our bed. It wasn't uncomfortable, just small for the size of the room& unusual. The room smelt a bit musty but I couldn't see anything to say it wasn't clean.
The gym & pool opened the day we arrived, the gym is very small but better than nothing I guess. Very glad we only stayed 3 nights though!

Thank you for taking the time to leave us this review, we appreciate it. Please know that we will be discussing your comments with management and will do whatever we can to address your concerns. I'm sorry to hear that the noise was such a significant issue; we have sealed the windows to try and prevent any disturbance from outside but being an historic building, there are some restrictions to the amount of structural changes we can make. I do hope that you will consider staying with us again the next time you are in Los Angeles.

I will start by saying the lobby and every corner of the inside of this hotel is stunning.
If you are an influencer or like taking pictures there is a photo opportunity everywhere.
We stayed on the 14th floor and the room was nice, could have been a bit cleaner & there was some work being done in the hallway so the noise was quite annoying. Also our room kept smelling of weed and I get that we was in la but it was a bit much at times. Lastly our air con had a mind of its own and it would blast our cold air at 6 am & we could never get the heating on.
All of these problems could have been resolved to be honest but we rarely spent any time in our room & it was such a quick trip we didn’t feel the need to move rooms.
There’s a restaurant connected to the lobby which is honestly amazing. We ate here every day for either breakfast, lunch or dinner & loved it (would recommend the shrimp tacos & burger).
There’s also a really cute cafe downstairs which serves some really nice healthy breakfast bits & coffee.
There’s a new roof top and pool on the 3rd floor which unfortunately wasn’t open to the public during our stay but we had a wonder up there & it’s absolutely gorgeous! If your staying in the next few months you will have the pleasure of enjoying this!!
One night we came back to a full on jazz band playing behind the lobby in the bar which was really nice.
All the staff were helpful and the maintenance workers were so friendly, I had seen at least 8 and they all had said “have a lovely day”.
I found downtown a little sketchy (safe but still sketchy) but it was so nice coming back to a little bit of glam. Thank you for having us!

I recently attended a conference at LA Live and decided to book The Mayfair as an off-price alternative to the LA Live area hotels. I was thrilled with the experience. It was only about an $8 Uber, but the Mayfair has a complimentary limo/van service that took me to LA LIve! The room was standard size and was very clean. The staff were pleasant and very helpful. They serve breakfast and have a great lobby bar.
This will definitely be my choice when I return for the conference next year!

Art-deco and pretty hotel. Just know it is a party hotel with club nights on weekends. New pool has Sat night parties and it is loud until last call at 2 AM. Loud as in, if your room faces the pool you will have the music blaring in your room and won't get any sleep.

Thank you for leaving us this review, we appreciate it. Please accept our sincere apologies for this experience. We are aware that the event on the pool deck last weekend did cause some disturbance to guests and we did our best to mitigate the problems in real time. This was our first event in this new space and we underestimated what the noise level would be in the guest rooms. Moving forward, we are doing everything we can to make sure that any outdoor events do not affect those on the floors above. I do hope that you consider giving us another chance to better serve you in the future. Please reach out to us directly if you would like to discuss this any further.

My team and I just photographed The Mayfair’s first wedding since all the renovations on January 11, 2020! We have nothing but great things to say about this wedding venue. First off, it is located in the heart of downtown LA. The skyline is easily visible from the terrace - such a gorgeous view! There are endless photo opportunities both indoor and outdoor all over the property. Even inside, the lighting was perfect due to large windows and skylights throughout! The hotel has a beautiful Old Hollywood/Great Gatsby vibe that really came through in the photos. Not only was the venue stunning, the staff and event team was so organized, professional, and timely. They made sure the bride and groom were well taken care of all night. At one point, the bartender even brought them drinks while we were taking photos which was the perfect break and added an elegant touch to the images! Spencer (event manager) was so responsive leading up to the wedding and very easy to work with. During reception, the catering captain showed my team to a private area during our break and fed us an amazing meal to make sure we were taken care of too! We love the Mayfair Hotel and can’t wait to photograph more weddings there in the future!

Downtown is not on the ocean. Green line (Railway) will get you to Redondo Beach. But beaches are a way from Downtown.
Hello - our hotel is centrally located in Downtown LA, and is approximately:
- 1 hour from Disneyland
- 30 mins from Hollywood
- 40 mins from Universal Studios
Please note that these estimations are dependent on traffic and time of day that you are driving. We would highly recommend that you leave additional time to get to your destination, as the traffic in Los Angeles is typically heavy.
Thanks!
Hi Courtney - our house car is available for guest use at no charge. We are happy to drop you off anywhere within a three mile radius. However, the car is not available for pick up service, so we would recommend a rideshare option for your return to the hotel. Thanks!
Hi Ellis - we are in the final stages of completing the pool construction, and should be up and running by mid-December at the latest. The pool will 100% be open in June of next year. We look forward to having you stay with us. Thanks!
The closest metro station is 7th and Metro, approximately 10-12 minute walk, on the same street as the hotel. Hope this helps!
