The Dunes Inn is very well located on Sunset, about a twenty-minute walk from the Walk of Fame. The hotel has free and secure parking, the rooms are comfortable and you will find a Seven, a Denny’s and a Burger King in the immediate vicinity. The welcome is very good and I highly recommend this address

Stayed in Dunes Inn on a package deal would not have chosen this if had a choice, there isnot a cafe /restaurant no where to have a drink as advertised we where told it has closed now, no safe in room, no coffee or tea facilities but Edward on reception was amazingly helpful lent us a kettle we bought cups and tea and coffee got to say would expect this facility in 2022. But saying all this location was spot on for hollywould metro station, we also used local bus with Edward's help of direction, homeless is very much in every street so sad to see this. Room is basic but all you want is to put head down at end of day, We actually enjoyed our stay it does appear that L A has a massive number of homeless and budget hotels unless you are staying such as Hollywood boulevard then you see a price difference. Our main point we would like to make is Edward is the most helpful guy made our stay so much easier dissappointed we missed you when we had to leave a big Thankyou to you.

Not quite sure about all those reviews. The motel is OK, in a not too good part of LA, although right near the Netflix offices and KTLA, just on the somewhat wrong side of the tracks. Yes, the staff, only one person basically, at a time, is friendly and there is a 'security' person. The old fashioned motel rooms are basic, beds OK, but old style airco barely worked and bathroom is very minimal at best. Wifi worked, but key cards kept malfunctioning on each of our rooms. For the right price and because of free parking (motel), maybe.

Great little motel with spacious rooms. The beds were comfortable and the water pressure good. There is no safe in the room and the diner attached to the motel is permanently closed. The staff are so friendly and welcoming and held our bags until check in as we arrived a few hours early.
There is a metro station (Hollywood/Western) 10 minute walk away, or the walk to the Hollywood Walk of Fame is about 25 minutes.
There are a lot of homeless people in the area and long rows of tents but none bothered us when we walked through at night.
There is a fantastic restaurant, Chris n Eddy's a few doors down that make the most amazing sliders.

I recently visited LA from 8/13-8/20/21 and stayed at the Dunes Inn Sunset. I can honestly say that this motel exceeded my expectations. The room was exceptionally clean, the hot water was great and the A/C was terrific. This property is well kept and a maintained and centrally located in Hollywood walking distance to many attractions and restaurants. I would recommend Dunes Inn Sunset and will be returning.

The hotel told me I could get a room at noon. When I showed up at 11:30 the guy at the lobby told me "check-in is at 2pm". I show him the message from the hotel telling me I could get a room at noon and he says "I didn't write that". I tried to explain that it didn't matter who wrote it, I have a wedding at 2pm and I need the room early to shower and prepare. He kept saying there was nothing he could do. I asked him to check if rooms were cleaned and he says "they'll let me know". Refused to do anything to fix the problem and canceled my reservation, leaving me homeless 1.5h before the wedding.

Don't worry too much about the reviews here: maybe people have high expectations. I've stayed here 3 times for short business trips and it's been easy, affordable, always a park available (maybe not in high season) and friendly staff. Sure, the room is very drab and not the most comfortable bed like you get in a hotel, but for the price and location it's a great deal for short visits. We've walked around the area at night as a couple but I wouldn't alone, though really it's not any more unsafe than any other area in this crazy wonderful city.

Very well placed hotel in LA, with parking which is rare. Access to Hollywood/universal is really top, very close. Rooms are not very large for 4, but correct and comfortable On the other hand, the immediate environment is very average, if you go 100m to get a coffee or eat in a Fast Food, you have very many homeless. They don't do anything to you, they don't even accost you, but they're there on every sidewalk at every corner of every building Supermarket 300m away within walking distance.

This is a dated hotel, but it was clean and comfortable. The pool area looked terrific, but it was closed by the time we rolled in. Parking is a real challenge for larger vehicles. The person working at the desk moved his car to make it easy for me, which was kind after 15 minutes of trying to maneuver into a spot where I could open the door. Stairwell had an odor of pot, elevator was clean.
