This former Summerfield Suites inn was in a suburb of Los Angeles called Chatsworth and apparently retains its quirkiness from its former owners. Its best asset is that it is near Brent's Delicatessen, a fabulous deli to eat in. While the suite itself was nearly immaculate, we NEVER saw a housekeeping person come in to do anything, After complaining to the front desk who feigned interest in this issue nothing at all happened. No one came in to clean the bathroom, make the bed or even say hello. They have this poor excuse for not cleaning the room called "light touch" which means you get next to nothing for the full price they are charging you. Since we stayed over the weekend we were subject to this "light touch" fiasco. We complained to the night person, a bearded gentleman who said we would be "put in the book" for cleaning, but when the maid arrived, all she did was hand us some towels and repeatedly said " No cleaning on weekend" even though we told her we were "in the book" for cleaning. Her English was under par obviously, but she knew enough to say "no cleaning on weekend" . Upon checkout we complained yet again to the apparent manager who was on duty, and he claimed "oh that should never have happened. I will have to speak to the housekeeping manager about that". As a platinum member of IHG I would have expected to have received some points or some compensation for this inexcusable inconvenience, but absolutely nothing was offered. I will certainly consider my other options when returning to this area. The rest of the stay was less eventful. The kitchen area was very clean, but since we had no housekeeping service, there was never any replacement of the coffee or other condiments found in the kitchen when we checked in. As a further note during breakfast, (see below) there was pretty good coffee service with half & half available for coffee along with those plastic creamers that only make your heart condition worse. After breakfast that half & half disappears, and while there is coffee and tea all day (a good thing) there is only plastic lighteners for these beverages. A serious error in judgement, especially if you are trying to avoid hidden sugars in your food. We did take some half & half to the fridge in the room for the rest of the day. Breakfast was mostly well designed although the protein element could have been better thought out. The breakfast room was cheery and clean with nice windows looking out into the yard area. Food was readily available and generally plentiful with constant refills, although the bread and bagels were rather commercial and not quality products. The egg dishes were of course made from cartons of "egg product" which means some real egg and some real additives to make it look like egg. The day they had some hard boiled eggs was obviously the day they used some real eggs. Frankly the Holiday Inn Express group- one of the sister groups- does a better breakfast with more real eggs than this crowd. There was also no sugar free maple syrup to go along with the make it yourself waffles (decent, but not excellent) which the HI Express group DOES have along with their waffles. Breakfast hours were kinda tight ending at 9:30am and 10:30 weekends. I would rather see 11am weekdays and 12:30 weekends. Not everyone has to get up at the crack of dawn to get somewhere. Those of us on later schedules should be catered to as well. The room sizes themselves were generous. The suite was around 600sq ft, a generous size for a suite hotel. There were amusing quirks in the room such as a 20 year old VCR-CD machine that was obviously a non functioning tchochkie, amusing to look at but probably confusing to a 21 year old. There were 2 TVs in the suite a nice touch, and it was relatively quiet in the room. There was an annoying crack in the curtains which let in a lot of light from the hallway. They did adjust it and it was improved but not completely. In this day and age, offering TV service in the room is not very upscale. This is not aimed at this hotel, but is a general comment on most hotels in the marketplace. Most of us have DVRs in our homes and use them to record TV for later viewing. There is no technical reasons not to offer something like that in the hotel rooms today. DVRs could easily be reset upon check out , just as they do for the doorlocks, so a guest could record some shows he watches while out of the hotel room for later viewing and commercial avoidance, making the hotel experience at least level to the general home experience. Parking was free and we generally found a space near our room when we returned at night. However the lot was definitely full at night, so I could see where some people could wind up elsewhere away from their rooms. Frankly if it had not been for the houskeeping non event, I think I would have given this at least a 3 circle rating. They could and should do better.

Had an opportunity to go to LA for work and decided to take my 94 year old dad who is in good health. We picked this hotel because it had a suite with a handicap option so we could share space. Very happy with everything including the price.

We stayed at this hotel for one night. The service at the front desk and breakfast time was excellent. The rooms were quiet and comfortable. The one drawback was the sofabed matress, which was lumpy and thin. At checkout, we found out that they have matress toppers you can borrow to cover the sofabed.

The hotel staff was super nice, the room was clean and everything was great. The breakfast was super good they had a lot things to choose from. It was just really nice experience. The location was a bit far from everything they didn’t had a lot of restaurants in the area so we had to drive to get food at night.
