We just finished a long term-stay and could not have been more pleased. From the general manager Andrea, to the breakfast server, to the housekeepers Juana and Alicia, to the front desk, the staff gets to know its long-term guests and makes you feel at home. I did not meet one staff member who was less than attentive, friendly, and welcoming, well-trained and professional. This is not your average Residence Inn. Never a problem with the 4 elevators, the guest laundry facilities were 100% in working order (a rarity nowadays for hotels), and the guest rooms were very quiet and insulated, to the point the staff that did knock on the door could not hear me very well when I respoinded. All maintenance requests were taken care of promptly. There is a nice pool where you can relax outside. The public transportation is mostly free and readily walkable including bus and trains, as is a local Ralph's grocery, Whole Foods, and Target. If you must have a car, and don't want to valet park, there are a couple of self-park lots across the street, and car rental is available across three street at other hotels. Full-size refrigerator was perfect, two-burner stove was fine, and small dishwasher very suitable. No cooking ovens are installed in newer Residence Inn but that's fine because it reduces smoke alarms. Microwave and sink round out the kitchen along with adequate supplies of flatware, glasses, and plates. The adjacency to LA Live is a huge draw, and it's a short free bus ride to USC down Figueroa St. Highly recommended.

I can’t say I’m exactly mad about it, just...confused. First, the pretty good. Spacious room (1 BR “suite” with living room and kitchen area), clean, friendly staff, good location. We’ve stayed here before and had good experiences. The not so good: my feeling was that, since we booked through a 3rd party (booking.com), we were assigned the worst, most neglected room in the place. So many issues, including: In the bedroom, there was so little room between the foot of the bed and the bureau opposite that we had to turn sideways to get by. I wanted to crack a window, but when I did, I noticed a sign outside that read "Danger: Gaseous Oxidized Chlorine." That can't be good. Decided to stick with AC. The shower curtain liner in the bathroom did not reach the tub side, so it flooded every time we showered. The living room wall had hooks meant to hold…something? And the room had an obvious spot for a coffee table, but nothing there. Strange. Like this was a stockroom and the items normally there went to a better customer’s room. A bedside light fixture eventually gave up completely, after sporadically blinking. I thought this might be a bulb problem, but it applied to both the main light and the “reading wand” light that was part of the fixture too. On top of this, valet parking was $50+ per night, while right across the street was a lot charging more like $20. That’s an LA issue more than on the hotel, I guess, but $50 at a Residence Inn? Hmmm. And the valet at peak times was completely swamped (didn't answer calls to 2 different numbers listed), so getting our car took 30+ minutes. I'll look elsewhere next time, sadly. As I said, we've had good stays there in the past.

Good Day cosoxfan, I appreciate your thorough review and am sorry we were unable to resolve your concerns prior to your departure. If your time permits, please reach out to me directly so that we can look into your reservation and stay. I will share that we are still under strict protocols from the Department of Public Health due to Covid-19, which requires collateral and some items to be removed from the rooms but this doesn't speak to all of your concerns. Best,

Worst stay I can remember. Although this is a non smoking hotel, the smell of marijuana smoke was pungent throughout the hotel, including our room. Staff acknowledged the smell but shrugged their shoulders and said there was nothing they could do. They said guests had found a way to smoke without being detected by the smoke alarm. Would not go back.

BDG8479, thank you for staying with us and for taking the time to share your review. I'm sorry that we didn't get a chance to resolve your concern prior to your departure. In the hopes of regaining your trust and confidence, please allow me to respond fully. Our company has a non smoking policy and we have a robust proactive approach to communicate this to our guests - via our Hotel website, reservation app, confirmation emails, pre-arrival letters and welcome letters. Additionally, my team conducts property tours in response concerns and our housekeepers contact us if they find evidence of smoking in our guest rooms. We charge a $500 smoking fee and additional fees and evictions for smoke alarm tampering. I have shared your review with my entire team to ensure a better future stay. If you are willing to give us another chance, please reach out to me directly to champion your stay.

Hotel had good food, although I’m not sure how they prevent the courtyard folks from getting free residence inn breakfast. Views are great, LA live is nearby, rooms are big for DTLA and relatively new and clean.

Hi mehudson1, Thank you for staying with us and for sharing your review. In response to your question, our team is providing reports for both of our Hotels. All Residence Inn guests are noted to receive complimentary breakfast and our Courtyard guests are offered our ala carte menu. We're looking forward to LA County and the Department of Public Health moving to a lower Tier that allows us to reopen our RI Lounge. Hope to welcome you back soon!

I had a great stay at the residence inn as always. The suite was nice and spacious and the staff were kind and attentive. Things are running differently now but the service and kindness is still very much there.
