The Hollywood Downtowner Inn is located on the Hollywood Boulevard which makes it very comfortable to get inside the city. Although we had a rental car there‘s a metro station near the hotel. The Walk of Fame is about 20 walking minutes away. It‘s not too noisy in the motel and the beds are very comfortable. We also enjoyed the free breakfast in the morning a lot - the waffles are delicious!
Very nice place for a long staying. Everything is close. The owner is very helpful and friendly. Rooms and furnitures not new but very clean. Only one thing isn’t good-breakfast. Always the same, very poor and not tasty.
We got to stay in a huge room, an unexpected suite. Breakfast was great too, we had it in a restaurant 2 doors from the inn(complementary from Holiday Downtown Motel). Will book again next time we visit LA.
This place definitely has both pros and cons. We visited during a holiday (New Years) so I think my issue with the noise may have had something to do with that, but nevertheless I’m not sure I’d return. Pros: Location! Near public transport and lots of restaurants and shopping Free Parking Free Hot Breakfast (eggs, sausage, waffles, toast, coffee, juice, fruit). It’s nothing fancy, but it is free! Nice Staff - the woman who checked us in was very friendly, as were the housekeeping staff Pool (we stayed in January so didn’t use it, but in the summer this would be amazing) Cons: NOISE - over our two nights stay I got probably 8 hours sleep total (and honestly not even that much) due to noise. The walls/floors/doors/windows are very thin and you can hear even relatively quiet talking between the walls, walking in the unit above you, guests chatting on the patio, etc. On New Year’s Day we were awoken at 6am by techno music coming from another room that didn’t stop until 10am. You can also hear the traffic from the busy street, so I’d suggest bringing ear plugs or a white noise/sleep sounds app to help deal with that. Bathrooms - need updating! I know this hotel claims to be renovated but it’s a partial renovation at best. The bathroom had no exhaust fan, so would get extremely steamed up after showers with nowhere for the steam to escape. There’s also no counter of any kind in the bathroom which makes getting ready with a makeup case or toiletries bag a challenge. Tired Decor- laminate floors were chipped, cracked tiles in the bathroom, thin windows, and a REALLY old microwave. So, overall I think this hotel is “doable” if need be, but I’m not exactly aching to book a return trip. In fact, it’s inspired me to be sure to book much earlier in advance next time so that more alternate options may be available. 🤷🏼♀️ …
