Downtown Los Angeles is a busy metropolis of towering buildings, bustling streets, and industrial warehouses. There is a distinct multiplicity of cultures here with a growing influx of business professionals and hipsters. Many call the evolution of Downtown over recent years gentrification. New lofts, bars, hotels and restaurants are popping up regularly. Downtown is home to some of the very best restaurants in the city leading the LA foodie scene, plus it is the location of cultural and sports venues including the Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Staples Center, and the Coliseum at the University of Southern California.

This was my far worst experiences stay every. The girl who checked me in and the guy who came to assist her had me waiting over thirty min. Then gave me a room with just one bed when i was very clear i needed two.

The check in process was difficult. Couldn’t find the reservation even when the reservation number was given. Credit card was charged for the incidental yet the front desk argued that it hasn’t been charge and wanted to do another charge even when the Confirmation for the charge was shown to the personnel. One male staff was walking in and out from the back curtain buttoning up his shirt. Once was not enough. Three times were needed to let customers know that he had some undressing to do behind the curtain. Complementary coffee or water was unheard of because nothing is free in LA (according to the staff.) Outside food and drinks will be confiscated if brought into the roof top pool. Oh, the POD is only for customers who order more than $100 worth of food and drink even when there is no customer around. Be careful not to be scalded because the hot water is very tricky to control. Could do better for $350/night

Had an amazing stay at the hotel. One of my favorite places in LA to stay when I am in town. Location is great and the hotel was nice to bring me a complimentary wine bottle as a gift. Recommend it to anyone visiting LA

This hotel is alright. I feel there are better options nearby, so I probably wouldn't stay here again, but won't actively avoid it either. Internet worked well enough for me to participate in some meetings and the snack bar was well stocked. Hallways seemed to smell of stale beer most of the time, oddly enough.

This hotel is beautiful. Modern rooms, huge bathrooms, great rooftop, and posh bars. Aside from the physical appearance, our stay here was a dreadful mess. The Standard boasts “going the extra mile is our thing” however, they couldn’t even handle the bare minimum. Upon arrival, there was no one at the entrance to assist with luggage, 20 minute wait to check in, one body towel in the room for 2 guests, kitchen was out of veggie burgers and beans - only other vegan option was fries, forced to pay cash for room service, unable to rent movies, and had to call 3-4 times before the front desk answered the phone. Lastly, our room was reserved a month in advance; upon checking out, we were charged double for our stay. So far it has been 3 days and the issue has still not been resolved. The only thing keeping this hotel from a one star rating is its design and a very pleasant interaction had with front desk rep, Grayson, to accommodate the 20 min wait. My recommendation, be a visitor to this hotel, not a guest.

Hello There, I'm so sorry to hear that the ball was dropped on the service end of your stay. Unfortunately we experienced some internal technical difficulties, that caused a less than great experience for you and your company. This is not how we operate and we would love to invite you back again to show you the true Standard Experience. Thank you so much for shouting out one of our superstars Greyson. He is definitely an amazing leader for our Front Office. We will definitely pass along this information to our departments in order to work on making the proper internal corrections. I'm so sorry again about your experience and we hope to see you again in the near future. Very Best, Matthew Bernard General Manager
