My wife and I went to a concert and stayed in the hotel. The rooms are super cool and very hip. Great art. The concert venue cannot be topped as it sounds amazing and is very intimate and never too crowded. Fun way to spend a night out in Los Angeles!

Can’t say enough good things about this place! I found out about it through my husband who is a huge aquarium drunkard fan and then booked us a long weekend getaway to get out of Portland for a bit. A few weeks before we were set to arrive I was diligently checking the show schedule for the music venue downstairs, only to find my favorite band was playing the night we got in! The bar/music venue downstairs is great. For starters they required proof of vaccination in order to get in which made me feel super safe and fully free to have fun once inside. It’s also really intimate, sort of like a smaller troubadour that has that same vintage/ historic feeling, as if graham nash could’ve played there in 1970 something. The sound in there is great, the drinks are terrific, and the bartenders are super nice! but back to the hotel…everything is keyless entry so it feels like staying at a friends place in the best way. We didn’t see another person inside the hotel the entire time we were there, and staying in room 6 with the balcony made it feel like we had an entire apartment all to our selves! The rooms are so well decorated and there are tons of music listening options that are really authentic and fun, not like the decorative record players you’d find in a hotel downtown. The bed was super comfy and so were the pillows (rare) and the staff checked in with us via text frequently and was always available to answer any and all questions. The only down side if there was one would be the location because it’s not walkable to anything (you’re sort of in between silverlake & Hollywood), but does anyone really walk in LA? It was also a breeze to get to friends houses in echo park and bars in silverlake! I had read some earlier reviews about the parking being sketchy but it wasn’t; yes it is two blocks away but it’s super easy and convenient. We just used our car during the day and ubered at night so never had any concerns with walking back and forth in the dark. I debated writing this review just because I selfishly want it to stay LAs hidden gem. :) can’t wait to come back for another long weekend and catch another show!

Hey Meghan, thanks for the excellent review! We love that Room 6 balcony, too, and we're so happy to hear that you were able to enjoy our bar and our live music lineup! Come back anytime, we'll always have a comfy place for you to lay your head after a killer concert :)

We stayed here overnight while seeing a show at the Hollywood forever cemetery and this location is great because it's within walking distance! Communication with everything was super easy via text. The bar downstairs is fabulous and the staff was extremely friendly. I know some people on here have complained about noise but we didn't really have an issue. You can definitely hear bass from the music, but it might have been helpful that we were on the second floor and ran the noise machine that was in the room. The bed was super comfortable too.
I'd say our biggest "complaints" were small things that seemed to need attention, but didn't really distract from the stay. In room 9 the large painting above our coffee bar was missing, the hardware on the hot water side of our sink was also missing, and both our coffee "pods" had large slits in the top.
Some things to note: the parking lot is around 2 blocks away so if you have a lot of stuff it is best to pull up and bring your things in first. Also, there is no ice machine available but there is an ice bucket in the room.

Thank you for your helpful feedback! I am glad you got to send some time with our bar staff and catch a show at the cemetery, it is such a great way to enjoy the neighborhood :) We had recently constructed a new built-in closet for room 9 and were waiting on the new decor pieces to arrive so I apologize for the lack of painting during your stay. In addition the hot water indicator has been replaced, thank you for bringing this to our attention. My sincere apologies about the coffee pods, sometimes guests load them into the Nespresso machine incorrectly and it causes confusion as to if they have been used or not but I have flagged this with my housekeeping staff to avoid any further issues. Again, thank you sincerely for your patronage and your assistance in elevating our establishment!

The attention to detail at this hotel is unparalleled for this price point. From the ability to text a live person at any point during your stay, to the complimentary curated vinyl and drink tokens at check in, to the quintessentially LA hipster chic bar on the ground floor - this place knocks it out of the bar. While the room is a bit on the small side, between the thoughtful decorative touches inside (including built in Alexa powered speakers) and the balcony with live plants outside, I didn’t mind at all. Will definitely stay here again, and may even book some time in one of the 9 neighboring music studios! 🤘✨

Gold Diggers is the perfect accommodation for anyone who wants their trip to LA to have a really unique vibe. The building is quiet during the day, and at night you can hear the low bass hum from the bar downstairs - absolutely not enough to keep you awake, more like a comforting heartbeat of the building.
Every element of the room is finished to the highest quality, making this feel like a true boutique hotel stay. Hollywood Boulevard is walking distance, and we reached Griffith Observatory, LACMA, Universal Studios, and other LA landmarks with just a short cab ride. We'll definitely stay here on future trips!
(we stayed in Room 6, for anyone who wants this specific room)

I am so glad I came across this hotel when I was searching for a place to stay on a recent trip to LA. The outside of this place is unassuming. What exactly is it? A bar, a strip club, abandoned? Once inside you are transported into another world.
I only stayed here for one night, but wish I could have been here longer. The communication from GD was great. Everything came to you via text or email on check in/parking procedures. Very easy.
I stayed in the queen single which was plenty of room for just me. The room was decorated beautifully and had a lot of thoughtful touches such as black towels for makeup removal, a steamer, hot tea, a nespresso, a record player with a great record selection, Sonas, Alexa, and a sound machine. The bed was very comfortable and they had nice linens and towels.
I also loved their printed information on the hotel and places in the area to check out. Awesome recommendations. They leave you two tokens for complimentary drinks at the bar downstairs.
Next time I am here I will have to check out the recording studio.
A few things to note:
Parking is about a block or so away. If you have a lot of stuff unload in the front and then park your car down the street.
There is a hefty flight of stairs upon first entering the building.
A bar/club is located on the first floor. You could hear noise from the club.

My stay at Gold Diggers was absolutely mind blowing. If you are a music lover this is the place fo you. It nestled in a complex made up of a bar, hotel, and work class recording studio. The place was once the sound stage for legendary director Ed Wood, then rehearsal studio for bands like Hendrix, The Doors, Slayer and more. The place is oozing the the soul of rock star. The hotel is nestled above a really cool bar/lounge featuring great DJ sets and world class live entertainment. There is no sign, just a black door with a keypad. As a guest you get VIP treatment at the bar passing the lines so instead of watching Netflix in bed nearly every night we went down the the bar to close our day. Yes, we could hear the music from our room but to us it was a bonus as it was amazing. In the rooms they feature record player with a great selection of vinyl. Bed was SOOoooOooo comfortable. Honestly, I cant' recommend this place enough.

I loved everything about this place! The studios are top notch, with well tuned rooms and extremely well curated gear selections. The hotel room was perfect and was a great escape from my work days. The bed was classic firm and the pillows and sheets were just the right amount of comfort and support. The bar had great music every night and and excellent mezcal selection and the staff was amazing. It was a very easy place to live and work and socialize and everyone was very supportive

I was in town for only two nights for a work trip and wanted to be somewhere that was convenient for my meetings but also was close enough to the fun stuff throat I could play in the off-work hours. This boutique hotel in LA was the perfect spot for this and was excellent value for money. I stayed in one of the rooms on the second floor at the back of the building. The room was adorable, clean, with a very comfortable bed and an amazing (and huge) bathroom. The bar downstairs has music every night and you can hear it a bit in the evenings but every room has a sound machine and I popped mine in and slept like a baby with no issues. They also have recording studios on the property and I loved hearing some of the musicians in their sessions during the day. You can order drinks to your room during the day and they have a parking lot that is a block down Santa Monica which was very convenient as I had a rental car. 100% will stay here again.
