Avoid this horrible place!! It is infested with cockroaches. I was up all night killing them. They were everywhere! Even on the bed! I paid $500/2 nights for this aweful experience. The room smelled like weed and smoke so strong to the point it made me gag. The smell came from a broken window and air conditioner. I asked the receptionist Shawn Lee when maids are coming to clean the room. He told me go look for them and ask yourself. When I asked him to help me, since the room has dead and alife cockroaches still running around he said he can't help me. Lazy and careless. The ceiling in the toilet leaked with yellow disgusting water. Avoid this filthy dirty place at all cost!

We had a great time at the highland gardens hotel. I will say it's a bit dated in the rooms but the staff was awesome and the location of the hotel and the history was unbelievable. I mean it's where Janis Joplin died and Brad Pitt lived for a YEAR before becoming famous. How awesome is that. If we come back to LA we will definitely stay here.

I only stayed here because it was free due to my credit card points. The staff was sketchy from the check-in. The 2 front desk people were talking among themselves without even so much as a greeting. Only after one of them went in the back did they greet me and check me in. Strike 1. We were planning on staying for 6 days. Our room didn't have toilet paper, hangers,or a trash can. Quick call to the front desk and they took 1 hour to deliver them to the room. Strike 2. The bed had a spring mattress that reminded me of the house where I grew up 30 years ago. I think it was actually that old. It was noisy, uncomfortable and took me a while to fall asleep. Strike 3. On the good side, amazing showers. They even had hot water :) Oh, I forgot to add that I found half a dozen spiders in the kitchen during our stay. I STRONGLY recommend you to stay somewhere else.

Lovely hotel, staff so friendly and helpful couldn’t do enough We had one of there suites which was very clean light and airy and had everything you could need in it. We loved the history about it and the fact it’s still used for different film shoots which we witnessed whilst there which didn’t interfere with our stay. We will definitely be coming back again and will recommend it for family and friends
