I worked for an upscale/luxury hotel chain for many years and now I can unequivocally say that the Hotel Bel Air is my favorite hotel anywhere. We were on our honeymoon traveling from the East Coast and stopped there for 24 hours before heading on to Tahiti. The setting is an urban oasis with beautiful trees and plants everywhere and once you are there you completely forget that you are in the heart of West LA. The staff treated us like royalty even considering that A list celebrities and billionaires walk through their doors every day. I can’t say enough about the friendliness of the staff and in particular the concierge team went over and above on our behalf. The food and beverage is expensive, but the quality is just outstanding. The huge oval pool is just magnificent. I almost canceled our trip to Bora Bora so we could stay there all week (just kidding but it was really that good). IMO Hotel Bel Air is far and away the best place to stay in Los Angeles, bar none.…
A very special place with very special people. We stayed here as we needed a rest in the sun. Everyone went above and beyond to make our stay special. Shout out to Tavi in guest relations. He is special. The staff is incredible. Warm and friendly and helpful. Space is gorgeous. A truly beautiful place. Indulgent to be sure but so worth it.
This was my first time staying at the Bel Air (I usually stay at a different LA hotel which I no longer like) and Im so disappointed I did not start staying here sooner. The layout of the hotel lends itself to privacy and serenity, and it is far less "sceney" than some of the other LA hotels, ie you wont find yourself constantly in the middle of an Instagram "photo shoot" and you can just relax. Every single person I encountered who worked here was beyond lovely- especially at the pool! And btw had the best pool food of my life here! My stay encountered a bit of a dramatic hiccup (no fault of the hotel) and it was handled with the utmost care. Was very disappointing to leave!
Please forward to manager We were there for lunch outside today a large group for a birthday and it was the worst experience We could have expected. It took a hour for the food. People received orders 20 minutes apart and waitstaff would disappear or ignore us for so long, we literally had to yell to get someone’s attention. Did not appear to be a manager or any order. Really really bad
Outstanding property and service. Stayed here recently for a big birthday celebration for my wife. The property is unique, not a cookie cutter luxury hotel. The physical plant is old, but the rooms have been updated recently and are immaculate. The grounds are amazing, pure LA, and the rooms open directly to the outdoors. The pool is wonderful. Not a loud music party scene, but relaxed and classy. Having a Wolfgang Puck restaurant on the premises means superior eating. The breakfasts are fantastic. The French omelet is the best I've had in years. The staff was incredibly accommodating and warm. We regularly stay in luxury hotels and this is my favorite hotel in the US.
If the swans are neglected as much as the guests and the property, then I’m afraid they don’t have long to live. Just returned from the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had in Los Angeles. I visit several times a year to see family, and usually stay at the Beverly Hills Hotel. I decided to switch it up this trip... BIG MISTAKE. I booked a loft room... upon check in I was offered an “ upgrade” to a canyon suite. The suite was next to the service kitchen and above the sidewalk room service uses to go back and forth from the kitchen. I asked for my original room.. was told that was not possible. No explanation. I asked to be moved... I was shown a room next to the pool service kitchen and a room over an old service driveway. I chose the latter as it was at least quiet... the whirlpool was filthy, had cracked limestone all around it, and the sun chaise cover was threadbare. The next morning I sought a manager and met Robert, supposedly the guest relations manager. He told me he didn’t know what happened with my room but would follow up that day with an explanation. Never did. He offered 50 percent off of the room.. but I really just wanted the room I booked. Huge Jersey shore wedding there that weekend.. they completely took over the pool ... drunken loud nasty people. The pool servers and bar servers were lovely . Management is non existent. I was happy to leave. …
We typically stay in a house when we travel to Los Angeles but decided to try the Hotel Bel Air. We were not disappointed. The service is impeccable. Landon at the valet is especially attentive. The in-house breakfast and lunch at Wolfgang Puck's is fantastic. We stayed in a two-bedroom suite and aside from some glitches that were immediately resolved, we were very happy. There was a good deal of space and everything was very clean. The services I received at the spa were wonderful as well. The pool, while crowded by the afternoon, is delightful. And you can order Wolfgang Puck's while you relax. We requested a personal trainer from the concierge. I would suggest you do not do this. He arrived disheveled, late, and smelling of tequila. However, the concierge did arrange our dinners and cars with no issues. I would highly recommend this hotel if you want to feel like you are at a resort in the middle of a city. I far prefer this idyll to the hotels that are right in the thick of things in Beverly Hills.…
Extremely disappointed!! Bad experience, average rooms, average customer service, average food, everything average but premium prices!! We arrived after a 16 hour flight from Dubai, coming from Dubai our expectations are high but we booked a Canyon Suite at Hotel Bel Air which was priced at over 2000 dollars, we were looking for comfort, outdoor space, fireplaces in and out (it was cold at night) luxury accommodation and ofcourse the best service you can pay for as we are used to that, with 2 young children it is important to have this so we can relax after a long flight, we were moving on to Baha so it was important to be as comfortable as possible for this night We were very disappointed! We couldn’t get picked up from LA airport by Hotel Belair, it was short notice but they did not try to help us at all. Robotic reception/checkin staff who lacked skills that were required at this level Rude staff that told us to just keep trying the ATM as it works sometimes (odd comment) after a 16 hour flight and paying almost 3000 dollars for 1 night with credit the last thing I want to do is keep trying an ATM, we expected them to sort this out and provide the cash we needed (just for tips) a Manager had to get involved in this to help us, terrible!! Their payment system is terrible, we were told the room was paid and were taken to the room, half way there, the room attendant received a call on his headset to say we needed to go back as the card was a debit card, this was extremely embarrassing as they made us all walk back to reception, it was solved in 5 mins, we don’t like using credit cards, we like using our own cash hence a debit card - they should of done an in room checkin at this level and they definitely should of not made us go back to reception, they should of come to us in the room, this is 3 star inexperienced service and for this alone I am reviewing as they really embarrassed us due to their mistake, I want this report led to the head of the Dorchester collection as Hotel Bel air need training!! We were VIP/high paying guests and should of been treated that way, this hotel should treat all their guests that way due to the prices, but the staff seemed to lack training and experience on that side. Finally we entered the room, the Manager (a young lady) said we had been upgraded, I don’t see how, the suite was tiny, the patio was cute but had no views of the canyon, it was blocked by foliage, no sun, we could not move in the living room, no extra amenities, no children’s amenities, no breakfast included, the room was cold and uncomfortable (no fire) only outside, there were stains on the furniture, very let down, this was the most basic of upgrades as we already paid for this type of suite, It was a big let down and was an uncomfortable stay, a place we couldn’t wait to leave as the room was quite depressing. We stayed in the room due to the jet lag, checkout was basic, bill was almost 4000 dollars, god knows what for, we used their car service but this should of been complimentary anyway at this level, overall a bad experience and not one I wish to repeat, be careful when booking, I did complain about this after and got an email with a refund of half the room rate, which was helpful, but no apology, no understanding, no offering to make it up to us, just some money back, a strange response and one that should be worked on or they should receive training on, the Dorchester Collection are due to open one in Dubai, let’s hope they focus on much better service and presentation there! We shall see!…
I have never given a hotel review, but this time I want to make an exception because the hotel deserves it. I am an avid visitor to first class hotels. That's why I chose the Bel Air Hotel. Everything is first class, very friendly staff, good food and a wonderful atmosphere, old world charm combined with the highest modern standards. However, what struck me the most was the generous manner in which they dealt with a problem I created. I will definitely stay at the hotel again.
Emma at reception was totally awesome, helpful and kind. She made our experience a memorable one. We visited twice and each time we had lovely accommodations. The wood fireplace was amazing. The patio was perfect. The food was great. Emma had asked after our preferences on everything from how we liked the room set up, the housekeeping hours, to how many bottles of water we needed. On our second visit, Emma had remembered our preferences and had an Apple TV and the bottles of water ready in our room. The grounds were lovely. We spent hours sitting by swan lake watching the swans. The oval pool is wonderful. We love the gardens and landscaping. The staff were all friendly and would greet us every time we passed them. We felt very comfortable there in the casual relaxed discrete ambience. We went there to celebrate a special occasion and came away with a lifetime of memories. We look forward to many more returns.…
