The hotel is dated but it is dog friendly and situated on the marina. Restaurants and beaches just a short drive away. Staff very nice. The pool was refreshing..room had a microwave, small fridge and coffee maker. Beds were comfortable. If you’re looking for something fancy..this is not it. If you’re ok with an average hotel but good location and good price..this is it!
I chose this hotel because it had on site dining. I have a special needs daughter that needs to eat quite often. We drove two and a half hours to arrive and find out the restaurant was closed. We checked in because we had no choice. I was upset at the front desk, they did not offer to refund me my money and told me they were completely sold out. We went up to the room that overlooked a roof. No view at all. I again double checked the web site. I called the front desk and again said your web site says you have on site dining. I spoke to a manager today that was completely rude raising her voice at me, not offering to give me a discount or anything. She is in the wrong business. This used to be a nice place to stay but the service and amenities are no longer there. The manager claimed they closed the restaurant two weeks ago due to COVID. I think that is plenty of time to change your Web Site…
The front desk customer service was very good and understanding. My room was incredibly outdated and truly did not feel very clean. The carpet appears to be about 30 years old. My bedding was clean. The bathroom was mediocre cleaned at best and the shower head was very old and sprayed awkwardly. Election to depart early due to uncleanliness. Also fellow guest encountered bed bugs. While checking my bed for bugs I noticed a used condom between the mattress and the box springs. This is unacceptable and disgusting. After checkout in which no issues were presented and I was originally charged for the 2 of 5 days of my stay. Later I received an email and was charged for the remaining 3 days. When addressed we were told we agreed to this as some sort of contract. At no time did I sign anything or commit to a contract. While addressing these issues with the sales manager, myself and fellow guests were treated poorly and disrespected. No apology was given for the issues encountered, in fact a disrespectful response of “I am sorry our hotel did not meet your high standards” was given. Another fellow guest who also encountered uncleanliness and seemed to have been bitten was told by the same sales manager that monkeypox has been found in Georgia and that they look like bed bug bites… Even after bed bugs were discovered by a professional exterminator still no apology. Even after several rooms were found to have numerous unclean and gross items under the beds(while being inspected by exterminator for bed bugs)… still no apology given. Management was very disrespectful and unapologetic!…
This hotel is in dire need of a facelift both inside and out. It had a lot of good reviews, I was so shocked when we arrived. It didn't help that we got a couple of crank calls in the middle of the night. I think they came from on property. I decided that in the future if there is a house phone to put a do not disturb on during the night.
Summary: The location, room, and service was great! For a quick weekend stay here in Long Beach somewhere that is still close to night life and away from the hustle and bustle of downtown, we would highly recommend this place! We visited Long Beach to reconnect with some friends from college and when planning the trip, we wanted somewhere near second street with easy access to one of the main roads around here (ones that connect with the roundabout). We looked at several places across different platforms (airbnb etc) and decided the golden sails was worth a try and for the price was very competitive compared to airbnbs in the area (airbnbs had a lower. Nightly rate but once you factor in the cleaning cost of $100+ for a weekend stay it made more sense to go with a hotel). We wanted to be away from the hustle and bustle of downtown without having to be so far from second street and this place being right off pch makes it a great pick. Our room was on the third floor of the main building, it was a corner room with two large windows and an accessible patio (via sliding door) (a very pleasant surprise!). The room was way larger than we had expected it to be and while the age is noticeable (older carpet with noticeable wear and small infrequent stains, but overall higher marks than average for cleanliness of the room. Price: we paid 386 and change for our two night stay in a king sized bedroom. The room was much more spacious than we had expected which was nice because between bouts of going out we looked forward to returning so we could really stretch out and feel at ease. Amenities: the front desk staff were very accommodating and had someone was at the desk 24 hours a day to handle any questions or needs we had. (In our case our flight didn’t get in until late and we’re worried about late check in). The room featured everything you would expect, what we had not expected is the small patio with chairs over looking the pool and further out towards PCH. The office chair was serviceable and I would absolutely consider working remote from a place like this. The front desk had a small supply of beverages (beers and nonalcoholic) along with snacks, easy to charge to your room for a late night last call. Parking was accessible (which around here is a blessing) because in most location street parking non existent. AC worked great! The mattress was comfortable (on the firmer side) with fairly comfortable pillows. The hotel also features a 24hr fitness facility (elliptical, weight and several weight lifting machines). All the being said I would highly suggest this place to anyone looking to dip their toe back into Long Beach.…
This place used to be a Best Western, and it is easy to see why it lost its franchise. It is clear that the current owners have cut back on amenities and maintenance; the restaurant and business center (still promoted on the website) have been closed, and the hotel is becoming shabby, with obvious need of a major refit. Although the room was in theory nice, curtains and carpets were torn, lights didn't work, and there was no water one day I was there. The same debris was on the hall floor all four days I was there. The elevator inspection certificate was out of date. One gets the impression that the new owners have no interest in keeping it up to its previous standard, and I can only think things will get worse.
My husband and I stayed here for the second time while visiting family and we are never disappointed. The staff is always extremely friendly and attentive to all concerns. The property is well kept and has gorgeous views of the pool and outside landscaping, as well as a jacuzzi jet tub in our room. We definitely will be staying there again. Decently priced in a nice area of the city and super close to Cherry beach. Book now you will not be disappointed!
The approach to the hotel clearly shows it's age. It looks as though it could have been quite the destination at the height of the 70's & 80's. The "waterfront" advertising is misleading as the channels are fenced off and you cannot see the water from the hotel. The hotel lobby definitely showed aging. The one elevator in the lobby was in need of repairs and it's usage permit expired within 1 week of our visit. It was slow and had uncomfortable noises. The hallway smelled musty and showed serious dating. Upon entering the room, the heater was on and the smell of must was overwhelming. The carpet had major stains. In the sink area where the coffee pot was, it looked as though someone may have dropped a cup of coffee. The bathtub had stains in it like something had sat there for a lengthy period of time and had permanently marked the bottom. The paint was peeling in many places. The sofa, with a gold brocade fabric from the 60's or 70's, had a few stains on it. Very disappointed in the overall experience.…
The room was very nice & clean upon arrival. We did find a few things that needed attention during our stay but all of our issues were addressed promptly and quickly resolved. ALL of the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. I will choose this hotel again when in the area.
My husband, cat and I stayed here when our apartment was under construction with very short notice. We could not find anywhere else that was within our budget but wasn’t a run down motel at the same time. My cat loved watching the squirrels play outside, and it was the perfect getaway for us. I also had to work from the hotel room all week, the internet was not slow at all. The only thing I can say could be improved is the cleanliness of the bathroom could have been a bit better. For the price and short notice, it was fine. Would definitely stay here again.
