We were flying into LGB three days prior to our cruise and wanted somewhere that we could relax by the pool and enjoy drinks, take a quick ride share to entertainment/dinner, and still be close enough to the cruise port so that embarkation day wouldn't be a long ride. Hotel Maya hit all of those points and so many more. Quite a few friends recommend this hotel based on having cruised out of Long Beach before. After seeing photos we were sold and love that it offers a resort atmosphere at half the price. We were able to snag it for a great rate compared to neighboring hotels and were amazed at how many resort amenities there are. The photos speak for themselves and the hotel has done a great job reprsenting themselves accurately, so I'm going to hit my favorite points: 1) The complimentary shuttle is priceless, they run within a pretty decent distance so if you want to go over the bridge for food or entertainment, it's a quick cheap ride (we would always Uber back, $10) 2) The pool area is amazing, was not crowded during our Wed - Sat stay, and the bar/wait staff were quick and great to talk to (say hi to Hector!!!) 3) There are so many beautiful and peaceful spots to sit and read or take a quick nap, and is a paradise for anyone looking for Insta or TikTok worthy spots. Just walk the property inside and out, there are probably 4-5 sitting areas with unique and beautiful decor, and outside there is the pool area, baordwalk, "beach" with firepits, Fuego terrace, multiple event spots, and the tranquil zen garden. Ten stars! 4) My only "negative" really isn't about the hotel, it's about Fuego restaurant and bar. Prior to our arrival, I booked a private cabana on Hotel Maya's website so that we would have a guaranteed spot at the pool. I found out later from friends this wouldn't be necessary, so I followed the directions to cancel it, which is to reach out to Fuego Restaurant because they manage the bookings. I called, left a message for the manager and never got a call back. I did this for 2 weeks with no returned calls. I saw on the website that the bookings go through Resort Pass which is a fabulous app for booking day passes. I reached out to them with my issue and they confirmed that Fuego would have to be the ones to cancel. So after 4 weeks of trying, Resort Pass reached out on my behalf to HOTEL MANAGEMENT in order to get the booking cancelled. So 29 days after my first call -- it was finally handled. DO NOT reserve a private cabana or pool chair, it's not needed, and it will be a mess if you try to cancel.

We checked in after 6:00 p.m. Check in was quick, as no one else was waiting. We arrived at dark, so unable to see much of the property. After dropping our luggage at our room, which was clean and spacious, we went to the restaurant Fuego. We ordered a beer and some chips and salsa. We did not order dinner. Fuego was about half full. Service was great, prices seemed a bit high. The next morning we walked across the bridge into Long Beach, which was an easy walk. After returning, we collected our luggage and made the short walk to the Carnival Cruise port. Next time we will arrive a little earlier to enjoy the resort.

The property was beautiful. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Unfortunately we got into town later than expected I wish we had more time to take advantage of the property. We will definitely stay there again.

This place has potential, great views, awesome live music and really tasty cocktails. Service at the pool was awesome with live music during the day. love the firepits and the majority of the front desk staff was really on point. Where this hotel falls short is the with Director of Front Office, Michael Samawi. During my check out experience, a very frustrated looking Michael missed several points of service. I was not greeted when I approached the front desk, he did not ask me how my stay was, and he did not smile. when presented with my final bill I mentioned that the union protest woke us up that morning and really disturbed my autistic son. Michael noted that the hotel had already waved a meal charge for the union disturbance. I pointed out that was for the first night when the union was protesting up and down by the pool disturbing my autistic son so much that we had to leave the pool area and return to our room. I have over 10 years in the hotel industry as a Director of Engineering and know what level of service to expect from this type of hotel. simply put, Michael was less than professional, did not show empathy with our issues and appeared to judge me based on my skin color. I spend a lot of money annually on family trips to hotels, while there I spend even more on food and drinks, I even make it a point to properly tip all the staff I encounter including housekeeping, bellmen, and wait staff. I had also asked Michael to make sure our keys would continue to work after our check out so that we could enjoy the pool and spend a little more money. He said that wasn't allowed, never in my life have I ever heard someone say that we couldn't enjoy the pool after we checked out. I told Michael that I have experience in the hotel industry and wasn't asking for anything out of the norm, reluctantly and not in a friendly manner he arranged for our key to work past check out. Hotel Maya, do better!!!

The worst hotel & services for price. I’ve been charged $300 a night it’s not worth it . Poor condition & filthy . front desk reservation lady extremely rude obnoxious unhelpful . She had charged me $75 extra to move from first floor to second room . Super.com assigned disability room room without my request another scanned . there is no water bottle in room I’ve requested water bottle they said I’ve be Hilton honer member which I’m but front desk lady didn’t add to my reservation because I booked through 3rd party she used against me I told her Maya charged $75 to upgrade room but they refused to bring water bottle.. the bar Tv is broken couldn’t watch Football game .. the only advantage of location is near Pacific Ocean . Hyatt Regency room the same price cross street million times better . I could have stayed at Hyatt Regency . Please do not waste your money with Maya double tree Hilton Long Beach worst experience I will not comeback . .. I called Hilton complained they didn’t do any thing about it .

1. the room was very dirty, it turned our socks and feet black. 2. despite having a gate to enter the location, they let protesters in with bullhorns because of a hotel labor dispute. They would start at 7AM each morning... My Children and wife were scared. After returning from an outing, we were greeted by protesters in front of the lobby yelling at my family not to stay here... 3. Everything you want to do is on the other side of the bay, other than the cruise port. 4. I was expecting a lot better for the price... 5. I asked to speak with the manager 3 times, and they would never get back to you. Talked with other guest that were having issues too... 6. 99% of one-star hotels are cleaner... 7. This is the first time I have EVER written a negative Hotel review. 8. The view is nice, and the outdoor space is attractive too

If I could give it a zero I would! If you are looking for a clean, quiet room this is not the place for you. Got in late due to travels, checked in to a dirty room, refrigerator not working~ all to be woken up at 7am to an abruptly loud drums, microphone and people screaming. Would not recommend

NIGHTMARE AND I AM IN THE HOTEL BUSINESS! Direct reservation w/property back in May. Wrong room types given, after specific request. Long story short, GM never responded, Dir of FD was going to resolve - up charged me for both rooms. DO NOT BOOK DIRECT, unless you want to be over-charged. Price match? Forget it! Calls outsourced to drive you crazy. Was looking forward to the stay. Go next door to Residence Inn. Better value. Must say that Front Desk staff are very pleasant to work with. I’d hate to see what a potential guest, not in the industry endures. Spare yourself. Hotel Maya, do better!

We loved Hotel Maya and would highly recommend it to anyone who has to stay in Long Beach, especially if you are going on a Carnival Cruise. We stayed for 2 days prior to our cruise and found it much more like a resort than a hotel. Our room in building two overlooked the water and oceanfront Long Beach, with a nice patio area to sit and enjoy the view. We spent an afternoon at the pool which was clean, had a bar & bbq area as well as private canopy areas if you wanted to rent one. Happy Hour prices were great at the main restaurant again with great view. They have a shuttle that will take you to the Carnival Cruise Terminal or into Long Beach, just book it it the front desk. For active families/groups there is seadoo, paddle board & pontoon boat rentals on site. In the evenings there are several gas fire pits to sit around and meet fellow guests if you like. The Restaurant has a varied menu that I think would keep most happy, it’s a little expensive but the food stands up to the prices. Unfortunately there was a strike by the staff while we were there, so wake up time was definitely earlier than we would liked, but we understood. I must say that management handled the strike well, stepping up and waiting tables where needed. If we are back in the area we will definitely be staying here. I only gave it a 4 as the actual room could use some maintenance, but nothing we couldn’t live with.

Beautiful hotel but do not stay here they are apparently part of a huge hotel strike and we were woken up at 6 am to the workers strikers screaming in front of the lobby. They have been screaming for an hour and a half so far.
