I stayed at the Varden twice while in Long Beach for business in January and February 2020. Both times my stay was comfortable. The rooms are small but clean and efficient, and the hotel staff is super-helpful and friendly. I got a terrific off-season rate, and the hotel parking is reasonably priced at $12/night. There's a Keurig coffee service and coffee/tea/juice/water/yogurt/oatmeal/sugary pastries available for continental breakfast, and wine/munchies during a long happy hour; all self-serve in a small seating area with TV and LA Times available. Great little donut shop next door, Starbucks 2 blocks away, Mexican place next door, Pine Street (restaurants/daytime shops) 1 block away. The neighborhood is predominantly homeless wanderers at night but doesn't seem unsafe, and the lobby has a secure entrance (I was traveling alone and felt safe the whole time). No elevator but the staff grabs your luggage to carry it upstairs. A good value made even better by a wonderful hotel staff. I'd definitely stay here again.…
I am giving the Varden Hotel an excellent review with one caveat: I was traveling alone. The rooms are spotless and comfortable - but I can’t imagine sharing such a tiny room (and especially teeny bathroom) with another person. That said, I got a great night’s sleep for a reasonable price. The front desk staff gave me the VIP treatment and carried my bag to my room and showed me how to work the TV and A/C. In the morning, I helped myself to the continental breakfast and took my coffee and croissant to the nearby beach. Great location, and fun to stay in a historic hotel.
our group could not stop talking about the OUTSTANDING customer service at your hotel. I have honestly never experienced a more pleasant stay in all my travels. You guys are like 10 out of 5 stars! Literally everyone I encountered was so hospitable, you should be teaching classes on it for the industry. Have a great day and I am def staying there my next visit.
The Varden Hotel is perfect. The staff is amazing. They are welcoming and joyful. You feel like you walked into your friends or family home. The Varden is just blocks away - complete walking distance - from all the sites in Long Beach (the aquarium, shoreline, convention center, restaurants, and more). The modern feel is great and the rooms have all the amenities. I have stayed at the Varden for the past 6 years for the Long Beach Marathon. It is like coming home. If you are in Long Beach, it is a must stay!
I enjoyed my staying in this hotel for five nights. The room was very clean and quite. Service was great. Staffs are friendly. Close to beach with fair price. I recommend it! I just have to take one star because there is no elevator at hotel.
