Our association board of directors holds an annual retreat / strategic planning session in the Bay Area, and this year, our executive director booked The Purple Orchid. It was perfection! Our group arrived on a Sunday afternoon and pretty much had the place to ourselves as we booked every room. We enjoyed an Olive Oil tour and tasting and a catered dinner and both were wonderful. Afterward, many of us hung out in the pool and hot tubs until they closed down for the night.
I stayed in the Orchid Retreat room, which was huge and quite comfortable. I had planned on taking advantage of the AMAZING LOOKING tub, but had already turned into a prune after spending hours in the pool with my colleagues. The bed was exceptionally comfortable and the bath products smelled divine.
We enjoyed a delicious breakfast before we began our all day meeting. We were in the small conference / dining room in the main building for our meeting, and my only complaint is that the room was quite warm (there were a lot of us in there) and the wooden chairs were not terribly comfortable to sit in for that many hours straight. The staff was great with bringing in fans to cool us down, and it was probably good for us to get up and stretch every once in a while.
Lunch and snacks were again delicious. The staff was so very kind and accommodating. The grounds are beautiful and we enjoyed watching bunnies play on the grass and a short hike up the hill to watch the sunset.
I would absolutely return for another meeting, though I would request to move to the larger building as there was more room and the A/C seemed to keep the space cooler. We have been to several locations for our annual retreat / meeting and The Purple Orchid is by far my favorite!

Pleasantly surprised and blown away! This is cute B&B in Livermore, close to wineries, breathtaking views and well kept grounds. I am generally not a huge fan of B&B, but my husband booked a weekend for us to get away without kids. We were both surprised about how much we enjoyed our stay.
Derek the owner was friendly, generous and made us feel welcome from the start. You can tell that the staff genuinely enjoy working there. Everyone was friendly, smiles and courteous. The room was clean, clearly updated and the bed was SO SO COMFORTABLE.
Their breakfast was great, and we were able to enjoy it at poolside in the mornings. Despite being close to home, we definitely will be back for a little staycation. This place went above and what we expected. Thank you so much Purple Orchid for making our weekend amazing.

The Purple Orchid is small inn (10 rooms) but all the amenities you need. Our room was large, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was very good. The pool area is excellent and they have food, wine and beer service there during the day. The afternoon wine happy hour is very nice... in the dining room or out by the pool. There is a spa there that we didn't try but had very positive reviews from our fellow guests. . Everyone working there was very nice, knowledgeable and professional. . 5-10 minute drive to several nice wineries, breweries and Poppy Ridge Golf Course. .

This review is based solely on a private celebration we had scheduled in the orchard at Purple Orchid. I have been a client at their spa for 6 years now. I really enjoy their spa services and have nothing bad to say about their spa. However, their event coordination is terrible. In May, we had a private event booked, and Taylor was the coordinator. Not only did she make multiple false promises, she was highly unhospitable on the day of the event. Me and my guests felt a lot of hostility from her and the attitude she gave us. First, when we arrived, a lot of things were not set up yet. Second, she quoted (AND WE PAID) for 3 servers, we barely got one. And I say barely because that server was going to walk away after setting up the food and we asked her if she was going to stay, and she seemed so confused. She did end up staying and helped serve food, but I am sure she was not informed to do so. On top of that, it was 100+ degrees and we did not have umbrellas. My aunt, who booked the celebration, sent Taylor three separate emails about the weather and the set up in the week leading up to the event, to which Taylor did not respond. On the day of, my aunt asked Taylor again about umbrellas for shade. There were 10+ umbrellas in the pool area, and about 5 of them were not being used. She was adamant that we could not use those because they were for guests. She had a very nasty attitude and very demeaning body language. We are also guests, and paying customers, we did not have this event for free. In fact, the event was quite expensive. I would not recommend having any celebration here, especially if Taylor is your coordinator. I hope she learns some hospitality, and to also be transparent and honest to guests instead of upcharging for subpar services.
Now, I feel awkward going to their spa after being treated this way at our celebration. It really ruined my experience here.

We selected the hotel as it was a half way point for us. The grounds and landscaping are beautiful. The massage was great! The pool and hot tubs were not clean. There was actually plastic in the hot tub (I could understand leaves, due to the wind) and I saw a glass floating in the pool. Also the hot tub was supposed to be heated until 10pm, it went off at 9 - probably due to recent time change, however they also said we could text them anytime. I sent a text and no one ever responded. The happy hour was very nice, and the breakfast was awesome! Staff very friendly. We will definitely consider going back.

Spent the day here celebrating our friends birthday. We had massages by skilled therapists and spent the day in the cabanna lounging and relaxing by the pool. The grounds are beautiful and the site is intimate. My only complaint is that we were supposed to receive lunch as part of our package, but when I called the day before or reservation to confirm our appointments and submit our lunch order I was informed that they were not serving lunch. It definitely would have been helpful to know this sooner than the evening before. However, they were gracious in accommodating us by allowing us to bring in our own food and beverages which is generally NOT permitted. We had an incredible day and will surely visit again.

I was very fortunate to stay in early February of this year! A total gem, exceptionally friendly staff/management etc! I've worked in the hospitality business for 25+ years managing hotels and this team is really on top of things from the point of registration, evening wine reception, well appointed rooms, friendly housekeeping team etc! The ground which include olive orchards are breathtaking. If you like to walk, hike or run there are trails in the area as well. And of course, plenty of local quaint wineries in close driving (or uber) distance. Money well spent and highly suggest the Purple Orchid!

A definite “highly recommend!” Loved our stay there for just one night. The facility was pristine as was our room (2nd floor overlooked the orchards and pool.) The breakfast was made to order and very good. The happy hour is a must do-great local wine bottled for the Purple Orchid, a nice selection of cheese, crackers and olive oil (from the on premise vineyard) for dipping. The hotel owners were so welcoming and willing to share the history and operations of the vineyard. This is a great place to stop on your way to/from Yosemite. Wish we were able to see the local vineyards and try some of the restaurants nearby.

We spent 2 nights there and it was absolutely fabulous. Excellent room, beautiful grounds for waking, relaxing pool/spa area. Couldn't ask for more friendly and attentive staff. Full Breakfast with real eggs and gourmet coffee. Double Eagle room was the best with nice patio leading to pool area where we could meet and be served wine/cheese in the afternoons!
