I arrived with my sister, brother in-law and 5 year old nephew at around 8 in the evening after a long drive only to find one double bed and a couch down stairs which we found out could fold out into a single bed. My sister had booked the room for 4 people but there were only 2 towels and not much bedding. Fortunately, my nephew could fit into the small nook in the bedroom which had a cushion big enough for a mattress. There was certainly not enough accommodation for 4 adults. Added to this was the fact there were no blinds or drapes on the windows downstairs or even covering the glass on the front door where the couch was, or indeed the bathroom. As the bathroom had a clear view of the parking lot, a look up from one of the guests after you’ve stepped out of the shower could have been very awkward. We had to switch the 2 towels around so 1 could be a makeshift blind on the window. Oh and the bathroom light didn’t work either which was nice and we also found the bathroom blind stashed away the next morning. We tried to look for the owners to ask for more towels etc. but could not find anyone to talk to. We also tried to call the number we had, but there was no signal. It’s in the middle of nowhere, fair enough. We drove to Mendicino to call, only to find the voicemail inbox was full. This was the number to order breakfast, so maybe they were trying to save their guests the fee of $25 per person. At almost $300 a night the whole experience was crazy to say the least. On a side note, the modernisations which have been made, such as light fittings, just look strange and the tv in the bedroom gave a weird motel feeling. Anyways, I would not want anyone to experience what we went through and could not recommend this place to anyone.

My wife and I booked at Dennen’s this August cautiously because of a recent review we saw on yelp about a change of ownership and the place being gutted and horrible changes taking place. We asked a lot of questions on the phone and it sounded to us like the changes were for the better so we took a chance. The new owners mentioned mold removal, some new linens and deep cleaning which all sounded great to us! Boy were we in for a wonderful surprise!! This place was GORGEOUS!! And the BREAKFAST was INCREDIBLE!! (I’ll attach a photo of the AMAZING breakfast pizza here) The room was so fatefully decorated, blending gorgeous Victorian antiques with plush linens and little modern touches. Also wonderful extras like an organic pour over coffee system in the room and Numi Tea (!!!) oh and Netflix and highspeed WiFi! There is also a SAUNA on the property. We were absolutely blown away. This place is truly one of the best b&bs we have ever stayed in! Usually I feel like I’m staying at my grandmas house when I stay at a b&b but not this time! Wow! I can’t wait to see how this place evolves even more. 6 stars!!

Stayed in the Quail Cottage. Cozy, perfect size. Everything was great; delicious breakfast, clean, peaceful setting. They may need to tighten up or upgrade the chairs and daybed, they seemed a bit loose.

I can’t say enough great things about this fantastic bed and breakfast. My girlfriend’s birthday coincided with the annual Mendocino Crab and Wine festival, so we booked a weekend getaway at this beautiful, magical place. Jo gave us a warm welcome and a short history about the house before giving us directions to the private driveway leading to the rear cottage. When we got there, my girlfriend was pleasantly surprised to find a personalized birthday note and delicious cookies (they were still warm!)from the Mendocino cookie factory waiting on the bed. The cottage was fully equipped with a clean kitchen, wood-burning fireplace, a wonderful sitting room, jacuzzi tub!, comfortable bed, and so much more. Best of all, there was no signal so we had a very much needed quiet little getaway far from technology. There are two decks with Adirondack chairs; the front deck offering a view of the coast and a telescope conveniently provided for whale watching! There was little to no light pollution and the clear evening sky was perfect for stargazing. There is a bonfire pit which we did not use but Jo was kind enough to point out and offer to light up in case we wanted to use it. If the place was wonderful, then the breakfast served was out of this world. Each breakfast meal was hand-delivered to our cottage by Kathy, Jo, or Fred. The food was astounding. Jo, I must have your recipes! My girlfriend and I still swoon when we recollect the deliciousness of those decadent crab-filled quiche or the mouth-watering crab enchiladas! Yummmmm! Thank you so much Jo, Fred, and Kathy! This was a magical weekend to remember and we look forward to staying at Dennen’s Victorian Farmhouse again!

We stayed there for 3 days and had wonderful time. Management is really sweet and food was nice. You can walk to the beach from this place to watch the sunset. Restaurants and other attractions are within driving distance.
