First time out after covid and it was absolutely stunning. The room was amazing, the view, the tub, the bed, the grounds, the lounge, zero complaints. We'll definitely be back and we're also getting a gift card for family as a gift.

I actually live in the area, and stayed at Heritage House for a 1-night “staycation” for myself - going through some things and all I wanted to do was sit in a beautiful place and watch the ocean - and this place did not disappoint!!! I chose this spot because I know the property is one of (if not THE) most beautiful that we have on the coast. Plus, with the lounge recently reopening for dinner (Thursday - Sunday) once I settled in to my room I didn’t have to go ANYWHERE. I spent all evening sitting on the deck watching the waves and listening to the birds, and the next morning too! The entire staff was so incredibly lovely, and really went the extra mile to make my stay exactly what I needed it to be: relaxing, beautiful, and delicious! Thanks all!

The location of the hotel is wonderful. Pet friendly! Amazing views! However, was a bit disappointed after looking at photos online vs the actual room we got. The room was nice but not perfect and I expected close to perfect since we paid $600 per night! Rooms issues: 1. Not enough towels 2. TV - should include more channels/movie options 3. Only had shower. Many photos online showed a bathtub. 4. It looks like we should have had heated floors in the bathroom but that did not work. 5. One of the windows seemed to not open - maybe broken? 6. Also read later that hotel provides pet bowls, toys and treats but when I checked in, I was offered none of this. In fact, the staff did not even say anything about it. Very disappointed. Good food at Bistro. Spa - no menu or options to buy product when I walked up there. The lady told me to look it up online. Outside lights were left on at Bistro after they closed so if you have a room close to that, you room will not get very dark. Requested to change rooms the second night and was denied. I would visit/stay again, however, price should be adjusted. Would love to speak with management about this to help make our stay better!

Our stay at Heritage House Resort & Spa was amazing beyond words. We drove up from Southern California, and I echo similar advice from other reviews, that it is best to try and catch daylight when driving, as the roads are quite winding. On the first night we arrived, our check-in was quick and painless, even with our accompanying pet (my cat)! Heritage House was very welcoming of us and out cat, which was extremely comforting, as it is a bit difficult to find accommodations that allow cats (most we find are very Dog friendly, not so much cat friendly). They provided us with an extra pet blanket, a pet towel, water/food bowl, and a toy, all which definitely came in handy. All covid protocols were followed with masks and sanitized/individually sealed pens. We were also given a map to the grounds, which had directions to our room location, but also listed important contact information and showed paths for the trails onsite. Additionally, a list was provided for local foods/restaurants, including the website for a food-service app where you can put in your orders for the nearby restaurants for pickup / delivery. Super helpful, we used it all 3 days for ordering food. Our room was large and very cozy, and had a private balcony and an ocean view. The room also had a microwave, fridge, a Keurig coffee/tea maker with cups/creamer/sugar, and two bottles of water. We were also given a smores kit (!) to use at the outdoor chimeneas located throughout the property. During our first night, my partner and I realized we definitely wanted a tub to soak in after doing our upcoming day hikes. We weren't sure if it was possible - but upon speaking to the front desk the next morning, we were in luck and they were able to accommodate our request by upgrading our room to an available one with a soaking tub (with the appropriate upgrade fee)! The front desk staff (unfortunately, I didn't catch her name) was so kind and helpful, and texted our number once our new room was available, and this process was just as painless as check-in. The new room we upgraded to was way beyond my expectations and had a beautiful view of the ocean, right from the gorgeous soaking tub in the bathroom. The bathroom was very nice, with a rainfall shower (with separate hand-held shower), stone floors, and dual sinks. It was also very spacious - I was able to place my cat's litterbox under one of the sinks with plenty of room to spare for her litter-catcher mat and many cabinets in the bathroom (which nicely held some of the cleaning accessories we had brought for litter cleanup). With such a gorgeous view to the ocean, I kept wanting to hang out in the bathroom! Plenty of towels were available, and there was a hairdryer and extra TP. The room itself was extremely spacious, had plenty of closet space, and had almost tatami-mat like flooring. There was a private balcony overlooking a beautiful cove that went straight into the ocean. It was gorgeous! Waking up to that view was one of the highlights of the trip. The TV was medium sized, but you're not going there for the TV anyways. Still, they had cable which was nice for some late night TV. The wifi is not private, but was still fast enough for streaming without any lag or issues. Requests for items (slippers, robes, extra towels, etc.) were able to be put in via text message to the Front Desk's mobile number, and all responses from the front desk and service/deliveries were quick. We were lucky that the lounge was open for dinner from 5-9pm, and even with a limited menu, all the items we ordered were so good! We got our dinners to-go, and it was about a 15-20min waiting time. There is an outdoor deck to hang out on while waiting for the to-go order, just past the bar. The fish tacos, ceviche, and margherita pizza were delicious! There are amazing trails on the property with beautiful views of the ocean, cliffs, and forest. There is also access to a small, private beach, which is down a long stairway - this is a bit of a rocky beach, so please be careful! There are big signs for "enter at your own risk" that warn about this. The entire property is full of beautiful landscaping, and many well placed benches (especially at viewpoints/vistas) and chimeneas with seats are scattered throughout. Our entire stay was amazing, with breathtaking views from our room and throughout the property - we will definitely be returning to stay again.

Set on a bluff high above the pounding Pacific surf, the Heritage House experience does not lack for scenic beauty. The guestrooms are really small cottages of 2-4 rooms, most with superb views of the coastline. We visited a month or so after reopening the resort post-COVID. Mask wearing while indoors was obligatory, while the outdoor areas feature a cool breeze and no masks are required or needed. Service from the staff was courteous and helpful. Due to COVID protocols, housekeeping only enters occupied rooms upon request, so guests need to call if they want service. We only needed one additional item, and housekeeping responded immediately. Two issues, both of which keep this property from greatness: - This hotel is in need of renovation. Bathrooms are large and well-done (ours featured a rain forest shower and a claw-footed soaking tub) but room decor needs what hotels call a FF&E refurbishment. The current decor is dated. Vintage wood Adirondacks have been replaced with plastic knock-offs. At premium rates, this is short-sighted. - The 5200 Restaurant has not yet reopened due to staffing shortages. Like many restaurants that were shuttered during the pandemic, this one cannot find sufficient staff to fulfill breakfast and dinner service. For this reason, guests must leave the resort to find breakfast. As for dinner, the restaurant enjoys a commanding view of the Pacific coastline and would be completely full for two seatings nightly each weekend if only there were staff to cook and serve! As is, only the bar is open from 5p-10p Thursday-Sunday with a limited bar menu. Bar service was outstanding, the bartender providing a perfectly prepared Manhattan and a delicious ceviche. One hopes that this issue gets sorted out soon, for the sake of guests, for the hotel's financial health, and for its brand reputation. The physical condition of the hotel needs immediate attention. A setting this beautiful deserves a physical product on par with with the best small 5-star resorts in the nearby wine country. Imagine a road trip from SFO to Napa or Healdsburg - where one can find several thriving 5-star resorts - followed by a journey to some of the most beautiful coastline in the world. We look forward to returning once the restaurant is operational and the property gets a much needed refurbishment.
