The Andiron is 11 one- and two-room cabins perfectly situated on five acres of meadow and woods on Highway 1 in Little River, California. Minutes away from everything - beaches, wineries, diving, hikes, Mendocino, breweries, good food - but quiet, relaxing, and fun, our housekeeping cabins and rooms are each entirely unique and reflect our love of everything vintage, salvage, rehabbed, and recycled.

Detailed Reviews
We've stayed at the Andiron several times now and each room is so unique designed with amazing vintage collectables with different themes. I love the wood stove, and kitchenette which helps to make the cabins so home-like. It's peaceful, dog friendly, and conveniently located. The hosts are generous, helpful, and friendly. We intend to keep coming back. I've sent friends and family here and they have loved it as well.

Highly recommend staying here. The cottages all have their own personality, cool decor and the vibe at the location is relaxing, firepits and hot tubs so comfy. Madeleine makes you feel so welcome. I think they have a dozen cottages so this place would be pretty perfect for a corporate executive team offsite - you can rent it all out if you plan in advance.

We loved our stay at the Andiron! Cannot wait to go back. I don’t know what i loved most - the comfy bed, clean and delightfully decorated cabin, beautiful grounds, adorable goats, or ridiculously fun owners.
Our cabin “Read” had a little kitchenette and a wonderful fireplace with a cozy armchair perfect for curling up and reading by the fire. We made a simple breakfast every morning, then hung out, explored the gorgeous coast, poked around in town, or used the hot tub.
Highly recommend.

We had a small family reunion after a wedding at the Andiron in and found it to be a relaxing and invigorating vacation. The owners were congenial, helpful and kind. We had people from 4 to retirement age and there was room to mix and mingle in lots of different combination. I would return in a heart beat

We recently stayed at the Andiron w/ two friends of ours and had a lovely time. The rooms are full of character and fun, and Scott and Madeline just think of everything. They’ve made us feel at home w/ two of our dogs, and the area is just gorgeous. They serve up a great happy hour, and hanging w/ their goats is great. Totally recommend this place!

+1
My boyfriend surprised me with a little getaway to the Mendocino County. We spend one night at the Andiron and I must tell you. It was absolutely lovely we stayed at #8 cabin. We were able to see the ocean from our little deck. It was very quite and relaxing. Our room was very cozy the mattress was great, the shower was very clean. It has an out door jacuzzi which works excellent. I felt in love with the room decoration. We’ll definitely come back to this place.

i booked a room in april for next week. i just got my reservation cancelled because the third party booking system they still use is terrible. only book with them if you're ok having to rebook at much greater expense elsewhere last minute.

My sister and have been visiting here over the last several years. Always enjoying our stay. Love the Happy Hour and Breakfast Toast Bar. Beautiful area. Have reservations again in September. Hoping and praying that we will be able to go.💘

My sister and I were sending our parent's to this place for their 60th wedding anniversary for a few well derserved day's away. The problem was first, they never let me know about any cancelation fee's if you cancel. They charged us $50.00. They said that even if you call 5 minutes after you make the reservations if cancelled they will not return the full amount to your card, they will charge you $50.00.
For reason's that I would not like to post we had to cancel these reservation's and until we received the credit card statement in which it showed that this company returned all but $50.00. When I called they stated that this was in the reservation notice that they sent online. However when we look at the documents that they emailed there was nothing stating this.
I would never reccomend this place to anyone, EVER.

Hi there - We're so sorry your folks can't make their trip here. We're certain they would have enjoyed it. Running a small business is a challenge, it's true. When we booked the cabin for your family, we sent all the cancellation info to your sister. We then took the cabin off the books and stopped marketing it. When you cancelled, we had to put it back up and try to sell it. It's not easy! That's why we have cancellation fees - to discourage booking a cabin you're not going to use. Tell you what though: we're going to do two things. First, we'll credit you half the cancellation fee off the bat. Second, we'll do our best to sell the cabin you had booked. If we can, we'll refund all your money. I'm hoping we can. Oh, and of course anyone can cancel same day without any fees or problems! Saying otherwise...that's just silly. Best wishes on your future travel. Scott and Madeline Owners/Innkeepers

We paid over $200/night + pet fees. The cabin we stayed in (#3) was old and dirty. C'mon at least paint the place! The floors were squeaking and room smelled of urine. The bed was horrendous! We will never stay here again. So disappointed! I don't understand why folks gave this place good reviews. The Cottages at Little River is way better and the grounds are beautiful! Yes more expensive but worth the money! Lessons learned.

Oh, whoa. Mycayla, if only you had told us you hated it so dang much...we would have done right by you. We would have set you up somewhere else much more to your liking, refunded your money and wished you well. You would have been so much happier and, honestly, so would we. Everybody would have won! For real! It's true we are completely different than our friends at Cottages at Little River Cove, and not just cuz we're cheaper. Chance are good that if you dig the Cottages, we aren't your scene. And if you love our particular fun style, the modern Cottages might not be for you. As with most small properties, we're unique. They're unique. Read the reviews, look at the photos, do your research - you would have found out that we're 50 year old cabins furnished entirely with things we've collected and salvaged. You said you don't understand why folks give us good reviews...that's part of it. Also: the quiet, the hospitality, our goats and chickens, ambience, personality, and fun. Better luck next time and, as always, for people reading this: speak up when you're disappointed. We, like most innkeepers, will move heaven and earth to make you happy. Just give us a chance. P.S. Of course our cabins aren't dirty or smelly. That's nuts! And we paint, inside and out, every few years. Etc. Etc. Sigh.

Hi Barbara, not sure what you mean by guesthouse -- the Andiron has a set of cabins (individual units). The town center of Mendocino is not walkable from The Andiron's cabins, there's a highway and it'd be dangerous. The Andiron is a small boutique type Inn so I don't believe they have a shuttle like larger hotels or chains. (I've never seen a shuttle.) Most people who rent the cabins have their own car. What you may lose in modern convenience you gain in delightful rustic character, if that's your thing.
