This was almost like camping in the most fun way with the comforts of a feather bed and modern bathrooms. We loved the room "Curious". It had a telescope for star gazing and adirondack chairs on the patio. The owners are awesome and you really feel like they are opening up their home. Everyone in the 12 cottages get to... More

We stayed here one night and really wished it could have been for longer. A fascinating place - each piece of furniture and object tells a story. Very clean and well-equipped. We are a family of 2 adults, and 3 kids and stayed in cabins Curious and Curiouser which are adjoining rooms. This worked really well for us. Lots for... More

This is a place to try if you prefer weathered wood over over pastels, curious goats over lounging cats, and an open field with wildflowers over manicured gardens. Add some vintage hipster design and a friendly north coast vibe and you have The Andiron. We lucked into this place on about the third pass of looking for unique accommodations on... More

We actually stayed here in May of 2014 for one night and absolutely loved it! It was the perfect place to stay on our road trip along Rte 1! The rooms themselves were older, but that was part of the appeal. If you are looking for a 5-star resort or brand new, modern bathrooms, I wouldn't recommend this place, but... More

I wish we had a week instead of a night. Everything about this place is fantastic. I always worry when they say "retro" it might be a clever way of saying shabby. It is spotless, every nook and cranny shining and clean. In every corner you look there are treasures to discover, antiques that are wonderful, fun and interesting. The... More

This was our third visit to the Andiron, all three stays were in the connected rooms by the cabin nearest Rt 1, when you sit on the porch there are no cabins before you. This most recent visit was the best yet, the king bed was very comfy, sufficient pillows were provided, and the mid-century sci-fi/NASA decor delivered that hipster... More

We booked 2 nights at the Andiron for our 5th wedding anniversary, and were not disappointed. Upon reception,we were greeted by the fabulous owners, Scott and Madeline. We made it in time for the happy hour reception, with the best Sangria I've ever had and some tasty snacks. After a glass (or two) and chatting with the hosts, we made it... More

I will preface this review by saying that Mendocino isn't "my" part of the coast. Sure, I grew up camping here and on the Sonoma coast as a kid, but as an adult, I've always gravitated more towards the accessibility of Marin or the relative affordability of Gualala and the Russian River area. The Mendocino coast seems to have a... More

A great little place with helpful, accommodating staff. I love that the cabins each have their own theme. And with goats you can pet on site, what more can I say?! Also love the fun happy hours with wine and snacks. I'd definitely visit again.
