Wonderful place to stay! The grounds are beautiful. You can see the ocean and redwoods. The llamas and chickens were very cute. The room was comfortable. Breakfast was made with local ingredients and was delicious. The employees working there were kind and helpful. I interacted with Sequoia and Nickie and they were both great. Highly recommend staying here!
We loved staying at the Glendeven and are already thinking of when we might be able to go back! We stayed in one of the lodge rooms, and it was clean, spacious, with a functional fireplace (!), and had a great view of the chickens and llamas. Breakfasts were delicious, and we really appreciated the room delivery (and COVID conscientiousness). It was such a great home base for exploring - it's easy to walk to the beach across the road, to stunning views of the coastline, and to Van Damme State Park.
The Inn is a wonderful place to stay. Everyone on the staff was very friendly and would stop to talk and visit, even if they were on their way to some other task. Our room was spacious, with a large bed and a fireplace. The shower was rather small, but that was a minor thing. The grounds are well kept. There are chickens visitors can feed, and these chickens provide eggs for breakfast. The breakfasts were quite tasty, and consisted of some form of eggs, fruit and a muffin, plus orange juice and coffee. The meal can be taken in the room, or in the farmhouse dining room, which overlooks the llama pen. If so inclined, which we were, there are hiking trails that go down into the woods behind the Inn, or one can cross the road and follow trails down to, and along, the cliffs fronting the Pacific Ocean. We explored all of these. There are no televisions in the rooms which is a blessing. The floors are apparently thin, as we could hear virtually every word spoken by the visitors below us. Otherwise, the place is very quiet. Most of the "noise" is from vehicles passing by on CA 1, or the surf pounding against the cliffs. Be advised, though, that there is a 10% Mendocino County tax applied to the bill. Our 3-day stay cost an extra $97, which we considered much too much. We don't mind helping the tourism industry, but most places charge much less than 10%, at least where we've visited. Even with that exorbitant tax, we plan to stay again in the near future.…
My wife stayed at Glendeven for our 1 yr wedding anniversary, and we’re so glad we chose Glendeven/SCP. It’s magic regardless the price but is a downright steal for the price. HIGHLY recommend Service: A+ - Monse and Nicki were so welcoming and made us feel at home immediately. Breakfast delivered hot and on time. Room: A - not flashy but super homey and comfortable. Clean, the fireplace was a great touch. Grounds: A+ - the campus is gorgeous. It was rainy/misty for our visit and the vibes were ethereal. Kind of tropical, kind of rustic, and the Llamas are the cherry on top. Location: A - like a 5 minute drive to downtown Mendocino and parks, not far from Anderson Valley, etc. perfectly situated
We stayed for 4 days during our trip to the coast. The location is great with a couple of trails starting from close to the hotel. A very short walk takes you to the ocean for a spectacular view. The property is huge and the place is all peace and quiet. We stayed at the lodge and the rooms were clean and spacious. The rooms had a fridge and a microwave. The breakfast was delivered to the rooms (you can select the time as 8AM or 9AM and they are very prompt) in baskets and quite good. There was a different selection each day and loved the freshly baked items. The staff are very friendly and helpful.
We enjoyed our stay here - our room was very good and there are plenty of good walks nearby. The grounds are very pleasant and the staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast is provided in a basket either at your bedroom door or in the dining room, at 8 am or 9 am (no other time). Our room was not cleaned during our stay. Both maybe covid related?
We took a last minute trip up the coast to Mendocino this past week and stayed at the SCP Mendocino hotel, also known as the Glendeven Inn. We stopped in and Bonnie, the front desk innkeeper, was so delightful and inviting. She showed us a wonderful room {Etta’sSuite} which we took for 2 nights. Beautiful, 2 room suite with a great balcony and a view of the ocean. It also has a great wood burning fireplace stocked with plenty of wood. They have a great, free wine hour in the lobby with Husch wines. Another perk was the inclusive breakfast that came to the room. Mike, the chef and breakfast master, makes a great poached egg bowl, rosemary biscuits and a yogurt bowl with fruits: delivered to your door, or in the lobby if you want. The building that housed our room is an historic home with period details. All in all, our stay was delightful with great amenities, and Bonnie and Mike were attentive and great stewards for this business.…
We were lucky to discover this place when we had to make a last minute change in travel plans, and we're so glad we did because we absolutely loved it. Great location, comfortable and spacious room, incredibly helpful and friendly staff, and a very good breakfast delivered to your door. We're already planning to return next year.
This is a stunning property with incredible amenities and a helpful and friendly staff. If you are looking to take some time away - this is the place. This was our first stay and it was a dream - can't wait to go back.
We stayed two nights in the Garret room, which I can not recommend enough. The room was spacious and the windows made the view feel so much richer. It was such a beautiful experience, the room and property were stunning. Getting breakfast at the door every morning make it feel so intimate and cozy, I do think our time here on the property was the best part of our vacation. There’s books from past guests to read, hot drinks any time, and the oatmeal cookies and satchels of lavender were such a sweet touch to an already worthwhile accommodation. I also really enjoyed feeding the chickens! If you have the opportunity do not pass up even just one night here, for us it will always be worth it. Thank you to all the staff at Glendeven and I can’t wait for the next visit!
