"One of the 10 best inns in America", this stylish Federalist-designed Inn & farmstead and the accompanying modern Spa Lodge with its European-inspired 10 rooms offer something for everyone. With the Inn's historic architecture and weathered redwood outbuildings juxtaposed with the Lodge's bright European styling Glendeven offers an experience unlike any other area resort, hotel, or inn stay. The spa, wood burning fireplaces, ocean views, full in-room gourmet breakfasts, grazing llamas and free ranging chickens, private baths, secluded patios & decks, plush robes, private and outdoor jetted hot-tubs, a wine and hors d'oeuvres hour, acres of manicured gardens and forested trails, and free-Wi-Fi and many other amenities to discover are sure to please. Glendeven is a highly rated inn set on a serene 15-acre farmstead around an 1867 country estate and an accompanying modern lodge situated on a headland meadow with grazing llamas, just minutes south of historic Mendocino.

Is this place is a gym. They pay attention to detail, they make sure that you are feeling welcome and comfortable at their place, and they seek extended ways to make sure you feel at home. They have a nice area where you can pet llamas, and they also have a nice place where you can feed chickens, which makes you feel like you’re in a place in another country and not necessarily the United States. There is a nice beach we can walk up to and enjoy the sunrise and feel like you are in a place somewhere in France. They have a delicious breakfast, and I would come back here as often as I could.

My wife & I had a magnificent weekend at the Glendeven Inn in Little River/Mendocino California. The location is stunning with access to beautiful trails to explore the Mendocino Headlands Park. The inn is very charming with chicken coops and llamas. We loved the attention to details from the moment you arrive and see your name on the parking space to breakfast baskets under new health protocols. Mendocino is magical and the Glendeven Inn made it even more so.

Had never been to Mendocino before and randomly called the Glendeven Inn en route up the 101. I arrived a bit unsettled from Covid and the rest of my life... (lol!) But given the locale, the people, and the bucolic inn, I settled in really wonderfully. John, Sequoia, and company made me feel completely at home! I took Etta's Suite for 2 nights, it had a fantastic view of the lamas' field and the ocean beyond it. There were a ton of lovely touches from the Inn--delicious home-made cookies, which I ate in front of my suite's fireplace while reading a book. Tea and coffee were available at all times, too (never mind the bag of chicken feed they give you to feed the chickens on the property). The breakfast was really awesome! Ate it on the suite's balcony, breathing in the sea air--homemade (and hot!) muffins, the tea I'd requested was also hot and abundant (2 cups with their included thermos), an omelette featuring fresh thyme, and lots more. The location of the Inn was pretty perfect, just down the road from downtown Mendo and within range of hikes, the rocky, beautiful shores, many redwoods trips, though the inn's quietude is also spot-on for a lovely, quiet night in (NO TVs!! Loved that. Critics abounded). The bed was extremely comfy and grand, and featured a plush mattress (but not too soft for your Goldilockses!) and featherbed. I sunk into it, so grateful, and mellowed the heck out. I stayed during Covid and felt really safe--the check-in was very well thought-out, as were the rest of the hotel's procedures (everyone was masked without issue, but the place is spread out, making for appropriate physical safety as well as just enough distance for you to really be able to get away, if that's what you're looking for). The Inn was also very clean, lots of towels, etc (note: Etta's Suite has no bath, just a shower, but I was good with that--it was a hot and strong one, and if you're a soap or shampoo junkie, you'll feel right at home). Winter and last-minute specials for the Inn were really reasonable as well. I hope to return to the Glendeven! And will definitely recommend friends without hesitation. Thanks, you guys!!

Room Tip: Etta's Suite was very nice. The whole external building where Etta's is seemed great.

A quite weekend on the Mendocino Coast.............no TV, no NEWS, just beautiful days and nights listening to the birds chirping at sunrise, and the soothing sound of the ocean waves crashing on the rocks just outside our window as we drifted to sleep. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!

We came to the Glendeven Inn and Lodge for our anniversary with high expectations since they claim to be #1 on Tripadvisor. They back that up well. The views were indeed gorgeous and the premises were beautiful. Full of natural scenery, ocean views, and manicured grounds. The staff were all following safety procedures to a tee and we never had interactions we were uncomfortable with. The breakfast they provide was great and gave you enough energy to hit those trails and beaches. We had a great time and it was lovely to see the llamas roam while we ate breakfast. The chickens are very friendly and run up to you even if you happen to be passing by (probably conditioned to think that humans = feeding time). We definitely will come back the next time we're in Mendocino county! Hopefully we get to experience more of the Inn once we get past this pandemic.
