Muir Trail Ranch was the high Sierra escape we were seeking. Three days of hiking, fishing, and exploring the wilderness was a vacation we'll never forget. Comfortable beds at night, and the most delicious meals during the day.... fantastic. And the hot tubs! Beautifully landscaped and so soothing after a long hike. We will definitely return for another vacation here... More

I laughed out loud twice reading the few negative reviews below. Hot springs not private enough because of chinks in the log fence? Nobody is THAT keen on seeing your naked body! Believe me, it's private. You're in the wilderness. Staff not friendly enough? They might be baffled by anyone who didn't appreciate the place - I am - but... More

This is an oasis for backpackers on the John Muir and Pacific Crest Trails. They provide an essential resupply service to backpackers who are passing through, and, for those who wish to stay the night, comfortable and clean showers and beds. We were fortunate to find a cabin vacancy after 10 days on the trail. It’s expensive, but the costs... More

This magical experience when I was a teenager has lasted in my memory for my entire life. At the time, I'm sure the "ranch" was more "affordable" however, the experience of living with just a few guests, eating farm family style, fresh trout every day and riding a horse for a week has been a wonderful memory. I visited this... More

I have stayed at this property twice, once in a log cabin and once in a tent cabin both times midway through the JMT hike.. Yes it seems expensive for the amenities but remember,MTR is not situated on a major road where resupply of food etc can occur every day. This is truly a remote location and as such should... More

The ranch itself seemed expensive, until i saw them bringing in the food, everything comes accroww Florence Lake on a ferry, and them has to be transported over land to the camp. I paid $150.. for a bed in a tent cabin, this included breakfast, lunch and dinner, breakfast and dinner were great, and lunch is a bag up and... More

Sure the scenery is beautiful around the ranch but the people are rude and annoying. It is like they have been cut off from civilization for years. The place is way to overpriced and it takes hours to get here from the Florence Lake boat ramp. Once crossing the windy lake you must 4 wheel drive through a slow and... More

This was planned as a Memorial trip for my father and turned into a wonderful relaxing stay. Family got together, bonded and had a wonderful happy time sharing our farewell to a very loved man. We even met a couple that were just hiking through and they turned out to be acquainted with Dad and it was so great to... More

The good: Muir Trail Ranch is in a beautiful setting, the staff is friendly and helpful (although some of the kids are so young that they're a bit flaky really), the hot springs are wonderful, the horses are beautiful. The cabins are very nice, the bed is indeed very comfortable. But... The not so good: for a couple, $300 per... More

We landed here on our 5th night on the JMT, just to pick up our supply bucket. When we learned they had space in their tent cabins, we opted to stay even though it was $140 per person. It was worth every penny. This included a fabulous dinner, made to order breakfast, and make your own take away lunch during... More
