On Death Valley trips, when I’ve taken Hwy 178 along the Kern Canyon as a scenic alternative to Hwy 58, I’ve been tempted to stop at Paradise Cove Lodge. It has a retro look including an old-school neon sign, and seems tranquil, sitting among trees on a hillside overlooking Lake Isabella across the road. After checking their website and knowing... We stopped here for one night and the location is perfect. Pam, who is the owner, was kind enough to hold the room for us without a credit card confirmation, and the gesture is much appreciated. Our room, and I assume all rooms, as they are all in a row, overlook the lake and the Sierras beyond and the view... More

Stopped here for one night after a long drive headed to the Sequoias. Lodging was very clean, recently remodeled. Only complaint is the pillows were very flat, but the cleanliness more than made up for it. Bathroom was pristine. Dinner at the lodge restaurant was fantastic! Great tender steaks and salads, sides and dessert included in the dinner price! Would... More

This place is well worth staying at. The restaurant is tops and the steak I had was one of the best. The owners are so friendly and with three generations in the business very interesting to talk to. Good bar, great wine, great restaurant, great rooms, what more can one ask for the price as charged. Thank you Pam for... More

Rustic digs overlooking Paradise Cove on Lake Isabella on the foothills of the southern sierras. Rooms are served by outdoor access in two wings which flank the central building, housing the Steakhouse. An historic Motor Inn. First one up puts on the coffee.

This has to be the worst hotel I have ever had the displeasure to stay in. We stayed here as we had failed to find anywhere else with availability quite late in the day in the general area. The whole place is run down and dirty looking - and that is just the outside! Our room was sad and scruffy... More

Stayed here once before...really the only place in the area. We were there once for a wedding and then for another family gathering. Since the first time they refurbed some of the rooms. WAY better...clean brighter fresher. New AC...which was really loud but worked. There was no phone in the room which was actually ok. Staff are very very down... More

I might start by saying that we have never stayed in the rooms, we have been to the restaurant numerous times so thought, at the very least I might comment on that part. They serve a great prime rib which over the years I almost always had until I decided to try their misc fish plates. They were great as... More
