The good: You can walk to the village and brewery. We didn’t need to get in our car at all, which was wonderful. Great activities for kids including nightly story time, a self guided scavenger hunt, and movies daily (which we didn’t do). My niece loved the story time! We ate at the restaurant once, which was surprisingly good! The bad: Please update the rooms! My expectations were not high going into this stay, which was good. The mattress was so, so old, and actually tilted down. Pillows awful - bring your own. My carpet had two big stains, and I asked housekeeping, and they said a carpet cleaner was needed. I stayed two nights, and never slept well due to the awful mattress and pillows. My disappointment is that the things that are not good are such easy investments for the hotel to make to make a much better guest experience, and frankly, you have to update all bedding from time to time…bedding doesn’t last a decade in a hotel. Housekeeping brought me newer pillows upon request, which were better than the 30 year old pillows initially in the room, but still weren’t great. My sister had a room for her family with a pull out couch, which she said was downright awful for her kids. So, lots of positives for this hotel, just have low expectations for the room itself and in particular the bedding.

Hotel's Favorite
My friend and I came for a relaxing weekend from LA. We loved this hotel so much! We enjoyed the huge lobby / lounge and communal areas. The views are beautiful and relaxing. The pool and hot tub are relaxing on a gorgeous deck. We didn't use the spa, but it seems really nice! Our room was really comfortable with fantastic beds and a great bathroom. We also liked our little balcony. I did a bunch of little walks around the hills in the area and it was beautiful. We got lucky with perfect weather too. The staff was kind and helpful in the hotel and at the bar. I'm not sure why other reviews say the bar wasn't friendly - there were two weddings at the resort this weekend and lots of friendly people around. Fantastic stay!! We had a great time. My only suggestion would be for the hotel to purchase some ALA passes so guests can walk around the lake on the private sections.

Visited the resort for a special event in one of their ballrooms. The banquet staff I encountered were solid employees who provided solid guest service. Danny the bartender makes one of the most delicious margaritas on the mountain. He was very hospitable and remembered by name when I went for a second drink. Alex, another employee also provided solid guest service. Very charming, good looking and both Danny and Alex made me feel like a VIP.

What a fun place! Our room had an amazing view of the lake and boats. The water looked beautiful as the sun went down. The room was spacious, bathroom had double sinks and lots of counter space and there was a closet to put all our items away. We played ping pong in the game room, enjoyed Elf as the movie in the family room, made smores on the fire pit, enjoyed the double hot tubs and sitting on the private beach. We walked to the village and hiked the trails nearby. Bell, at the front desk, was amazing and kind and answered all our questions about the area. She made us feel welcomed and well taken care of and like she was available when we needed anything The restaurant’s food was delicious. Tuna tartar and bread pudding were stand outs. Cocktails were great too and so was Tyler’s service! The beds were very comfortable and you could see the view from the bed itself. We enjoyed the fireplaces throughout the property. The coffee, mini fridge in the room and easily accessible hot cocoa and snacks in the lobby made our stay comfortable. We’ll definitely be back soon!

The rooms are outdated; the views are oversold; the amenities, other than the pool and spa, are overrated. On the plus side, the food in the restaurant is above average, and MOST of the employees are quite nice. Calling a gas burner on stones a firepit (see pics) is a bit of a stretch, especially when one can see the REAL firepit below. All that said, I must note that I am making these observations BEFORE accounting for the pricing. So let's get to it. When considering VALUE (i.e., what you pay versus the quality), this place gets one star. It's outdated and overpriced, but it positions itself as a four-star resort based SOLELY on its location. Although that's valuable, and you can walk to the Village just a couple blocks away, I'd venture that several dozen BNBs are available within walking distance of the Village that are much nicer. Don't waste your money. However, if you don't care about money, the place is centrally located and has a certain charm. So did the hotel in the Shining, btw. Did I mention the restaurant? The food is slightly above average. The prices for that food will give you an ulcer. And the New Year's Eve celebration is a joke. I've attended high school homecoming dances, and that includes taking a break to hit a blunt to try to, uh, blunt the experience. The only saving grace was that many of the hotel staff did a mean rendition of "Rasputin." Oh, and one more thing, not for the first front-desk person but for the second, a manager who had the gall to tell us that we could upgrade our room for a mere SEVEN HUNDRED DOLLARS FOR A SINGLE NIGHT—if you don't want to work with people, and you actually don't even like people, perhaps you should seek employment somewhere else. I hear that many bridges are looking for experienced trolls.

We are from Los Angeles and love coming to Lake Arrowhead for quick weekend getaways. Our favorite suite at the nearby Kingsley Hotel was not available on short notice so we stayed here at the Lake Arrowhead Resort and Spa and unfortunately this wasn't a pleasant stay. Room was very dated and in poor condition and customer service was not pleasant to interact with.

I arrived at 6:05 AM, Friday September 1, and the Front Desk was unattended. Look around, it’s quiet, I proceeded to the locker rooms where I hear “did you sign in?” No good morning, how are you, or a typical greeting. This employee (named Jonathan) looked like he was in a rush, picking up towels etc. I communicated I did not, walked to the front desk signed in and checked box stating I was a guest. Hence, I had not been back to this gym since December 2022. In the middle of my workout, this employee approaches me and asked if name on clipboard was me, I stated yes. He raised his voice and stated “you should have waited, you cannot come in until someone’s helps you” all this while pointing at the clipboard, military style. On my way out, I stopped at the Front Desk, paid my $20 guest fee and I asked “Jonathan” if I can provide him some feedback, he stated yes. “The way you approached me while working out is unacceptable from a guest point of view. Your aggressiveness and pointing at the clipboard like I was a child, is no way to speak to a guest (gym member/hotel guest). Jonathan interrupted me, I asked to finish my experience, he provided an excuse with an apology stating that’s the way he speaks and he denied the clip board moment. My experience was not pleasant, I had planned to join the $99 a month to become a member but this experience changed my mind. It’s recommended that Jonathan be retrained and understand how to show empathy when a guest doesn’t have a positive experience.

Disappointed to say the least. We booked a lake view “suite” for 2 night, for $500/night. With that price and from the description on the website we were expecting a really nice accommodation…and boy were we disappointed. The overall feeling and look is old and outdated. Mismatched furniture, thorn curtains, broken blinds in the bathroom (needed for privacy), noise and loud music from the pool -mind you the “suite” is called Tranquillity- dirty carpet in the elevators, and more. The “suite” didn’t have a coffee maker, when we called for one, they brought us a cheap one that didn’t work. I mean, for $500/night it should come with a Nespresso machine at least, and a choice of pods and teas! Even the coffee creamer wasn’t creamer, but a mysterious bag called “coffee colorant”…not even motel 6. Shampoo and other products feel cheap too, dried my hair into a rats nest. Restaurant is overpriced, we didn’t even bother to try due to all the negative reviews it has.

The hotel has seen better days. Carpets are worn, peeling paint, room doors that need slamming to close them, and water pipes that were turned off for about an hour to manage a leak somewhere on the property and eventually flowed with a steady stream of dirty water which was undrinkable. And then there is the hotel restaurant that could neither charge our breakfast to our room nor to our credit card. After twenty minutes the waitress finally confessed there seemed to be a total system failure to make either charge work. So she handed us back our bill saying it wasn’t declined; unfortunately, the bill was in the sleeve this time without my credit card. I had to ask where she put it. She went off to find it for another few minutes. The carelessness with which this was handled was appalling. We were eventually able to leave with the issue unresolved expecting at some point the waitress would simply walk the bill over to the front desk to tell them we signed and had okayed this charge. While the scenery is lovely, don’t be fooled that it will make up for a poor customer experience. The hotel could be a fond memory even with the property's failings if anyone at all cared about customer service and the customer experience. We booked a boat ride through the spa on the property as advertised in our room for 3p. We showed up and were told it needed to be pushed to 4p to accommodate someone else. Then at 4p when we showed up on the dock as instructed there was no boat. And we were given no warning of further delays. When I asked at the spa why no one called about this additional delay, the desk agent replied “It’s only 4:01.” I said, “he is nowhere in sight of the dock so it will rapidly become more than a few minutes, past 4 which is why I am here inquiring when he will arrive for our 4p reservation.” Then I was informed he apparently had to drop someone off somewhere else. I replied, “Why is it no one could notify us of the additional delay?” Based on the agent’s silence I assume she had no answer. In the end, we wasted our afternoon waiting for a boat ride that never happened when we could have made other plans. I went to the front desk and asked for a manager. The front desk agent called over the walkie-talkie. Nothing. The agent took my complaint and name and said they’d pass it along. No one ever called to follow up or offered to address our concerns. The place is a bit confused about what being pet-friendly means. We brought our 20lb dog with us and when I checked in, I was told that the dog was not allowed to be left in the room or our car alone, and she was also not allowed on the beach, pool deck, or boat dock. Oddly, the hotel allows and charges $50 for pets to accompany us on the boat we had booked, even though we were later told the only way to access and board the boat was by walking across the pool deck and boat dock where we had been told the dog wasn’t permitted. The boat rents for $225 per person for up to 5 people on an hour cruise, with an additional $50 charge for the dog. So even with only two people (and not the five we would have been allowed for the same rental fee) we still would have had to pay $50 for the 20lb dog to ride on the boat, and thhis is even after paying a very high hotel pet fee ($150 for our two-night stay) and fully agreeing to the pet terms. (Note: none of this fee is refundable if the dog behaves and requires no additional remediation.) At check-in, we received a branded travel bowl (nice) and a commercial bag of dog treats (unfamiliar brand not house-made.) No bowls in the room, or dog bed, or pet cleaning station. With that high of a pet fee, I would have expected - and have gotten - better customer service as a pet owner at other hotels. At check out, I encountered the Manager on Duty, who also had been working the spa desk when I cancelled the boat reservation because they didn’t show. She told me that she had no clue I was asking to speak to a manager, despite the front desk having indicated they had called over their radio for a manager on duty when I was there to complain about the boat issue. She did finally remediate some of the lack of service by refunding the breakfast (which they eventually figured out how to charge to our room apparently) and refunding the exorbitant pet fee upon checkout (after I once again shared my disappointment over our poor boat experience and lack of running water on our first day.) I felt this was the least she could do IMO and I am glad she understood that.
