Just stayed over Thanksgiving weekend. We understand that in this Covid-era there's going to be few actual 'resort' amenities (no pool, jacuzzi, spa, fitness room, lake rentals, inside dining, concierge...they even disabled the mini-fridges!). You're literally on your own with your room and the one restaurant on site....which would be fine if the rooms were extraordinary. Unfortunately they're not. We booked a lake view spa suite. Three complaints: 1) When someone books a view room, they expect to be able to actually see the view through relatively clean windows. These windows were clean on the inside but so dirty on the outside with both bird droppings, and a haze that only comes after a long time of not cleaning, that it was literally kind of gross to look out. No excuse, especially since one of the three main windows was the balcony glass that could be easily accessed by cleaning personnel. 2) While they did offer free coffee and hot water for tea in the mornings, they continued to charge $3 for a bottle of water, with no other self-serve water options on site. Fine for non-Covid times, but with so few amenities available, they should either offer a limited number of free bottles to each room, or at least get a filtered water dispenser for guests. 3) The hotel is in DIRE need of an upgrade. The furniture is old and beat up and the carpet is simply disgusting....it not only looks and feels unclean, but there were numerous stains of undetermined origin. Throw in a toilet that wouldn't stop running through the night, and excessive neighbor noise through thin walls and ceiling, and even with the 50% off 'Black Friday' discount, it felt overpriced. If this is the best Lake Arrowhead has to offer for hotel accommodations, I'll use VRBO or Airbnb to find a cabin with a view on the next trip. Same price and possibly better amenities...

I am disappointed with our stay here. We reserved a "Pine View" room, described as a view of the forest. Should have been labeled "Parking Lot View." Room furnishings were worn, torn, and chipped. We waited a long time to place a breakfast order. There was only one person visible at the restaurant, and she disappeared from the bar area for long periods of time to go to the kitchen. The $32.00 per night amenities fee is a ripoff and misleading. Almost all amenities are unavailable. Finally, we requested a late checkout and we were refused. The front desk clerk stated that the resort was fully booked that evening. However, I checked the hotel's website and virtually all room categories were available for sale that evening. I do not appreciate being told false information. I asked to speak with a manager. The front desk manager, Frank, harshly insisted there would be no late checkouts at all, not even a courtesy of 11:30 or noon. As a result, we had a tremendous rush after being delayed at breakfast and we barely had time to shower before rushing out. We felt unwelcome and unappreciated. I travel frequently, only request a late checkout when needed, and have never been denied a small courtesy extension before. Not even a Happy Thanksgiving message or thank you. This resort does not deserve its AAA 4 diamond rating.

Nice resort. Within walking distance to the lake, shops & restaurants. Spacious room, patio, rustic vibe. Fresh air. Due to Covid the spa is closed but you can hang by the pool. A little pricey and did not include a free breakfast. Overall nice venue for small outdoor wedding

For the price we paid we expected a lot more. Here's a review by breakdown: * (1 star) for the actual hotel room itself. It was incredibly run down. The carpet was dirty and stained (thank goodness we bought sandals), the headboard was scratched up and the fixtures were dated and in bad shape. In a Covid 19 world, I felt pretty dirty the entire 2 nights there. **** (4 star) for service. When we first checked in we had no air conditioning and it was really warm in our room. We were livid and since they weren't offering room service via their phone (due to Covid) I had to walk to front desk to try to get some service. The line to check-in by that time was ridiculous so I walked up to the front desk staff and told him our problem and literally within a couple minutes, 2 guys showed up at our door. They replaced our thermostat and fixed the air con. Super friendly and nice guys. I will say that it is a desirable location with access to the lake as well as shops and eateries. It is also less then 10 minutes to Skypark Village.

On a whim, I decided to book a same day reservation to take my elderly mom to the mountains for a quiet retreat. I reserved a handicapped accessible room which was very pricey as it was a Saturday and last minute. We checked in early and headed to the restaurant for lunch outside. I initially became alarmed as there was a 40+ person wedding taking place on the outside patio below in which attendants were not wearing masks. The patrons at the restaurant were taking videos of the wedding from the balcony and not social distancing. The pool area was packed with guests, not social distancing. After these observations, I decided that this was an unsafe environment for my mom and was willing to make the 2 hour drive back home. Since we still hadn’t used the hotel room or brought luggage inside, my husband went to the front desk and spoke to the hotel manager expressing our concerns regarding Covid-19 and my mom’s safety. He asked if we could get a refund or at the very least a credit to return when it was less crowded. The manager was unsympathetic to our concerns and said there was nothing he could do for us because it was a same day reservation. I realize that hotels incurred major losses during the shutdown which they need to make up for, but during this pandemic, if guests feel unsafe due to large crowds and lack of social distancing protocols at pool/beach, the safety of the guest should be a priority especially for someone high risk such as my mom. I’m not sure what the CA State mandates for hotel capacity are, but this hotel was very crowded and busy. In comparison, I recently stayed at a resort in Palm Springs in which they they took the utmost precautions, limiting hotel capacity, guest pool capacity and ensuring guest social distancing in restaurants and lobby. This hotel doesn’t seem to take into account the Covid-19 precautions necessary to ensure guest safety. With a wedding, a packed pool, and busy hallways to the rooms, it seemed to be a prime situation for a Covid-19 outbreak to occur. In addition, there was an outdoor balcony overlooking the pool with tables which had people’s left over food and trash, and no one cleaning or wiping down the tables after guest use. And lastly, the wait time for our food at lunch was terrible, over an hour and the food was mediocre at best. The satellite TV didn’t work in the evening in our room, but at that point, I didn’t even bother to complain. I just wanted to leave. Overall, I spent a lot of money for a stressful and unenjoyable experience.
