we checked in and after check in were told they were working on the freeway from 8pm to 8am (will be going on to June 2023 so stay away) and they were only informed that morning, terrible lie ! Its ok because the noisy outdated air con made far more noise. the bathroom door didn't close properly as the frame was warped. It is dark, there is a free standing sink in the middle of the room which is beyond weird as there is a sink in the bathroom room. The furniture is marked and dirty, it is a very tired looking room. The pool is not a pool it is a dip pool, surrounded by cheap fake grass and cheap seats and looks out onto the car park. Of all the places we have stayed on our road trip there were lower star properties which are far superior to this. Staff were not great. Bar closes at 9pm ! Stay away

Truth be told I had quit staying at the Comfort suites chain because many of the properties had become "dated" and more like motels. This property is located in south orange county where there is not a lot to choose from if you want a real hotel (vs a motel type of property) This property has been totally renovated (the previous 2 chains had let the property deteriorate) and is centrally located to freeway and dining establishment...I did not use the internet so I can't comment on that and i left b4 breakfast was started (at 6:30 am)...I would have like to start the day with a hot breakfast but instead of getting at 5:30 am wake up call i got a 4;30 am wake up call (not cool) and that threw my whole morning into chaos ( i gracefully accepted the apology from the front desk that morning-wasnt their fault --it was the nite staff from the previous evening) U should know that the theres only 1 ice machine and its on the 1st floor which is inconvenient if u dont know ...because after u check into your room you have to go alll the way back to the 1st floor..so the staff should mention that at check in all in all i would stay there again and its a very nice hotel

Great experience for our team! Seamless booking and coordination with a large room block, speedy check-in with a large group arriving at the same time, clean rooms, and the excellent service throughout the hotel.

The lobby and grounds are worn and tired. The rooms are dirty and tired. Worn out and soiled carpeting. Fingernails or toenails on the carpet next to the bed. Dirty drapes. Hair in the shower. The elevator and hallways were littered with small pieces of garbage and orange peels. Late the next morning (following a complaint) the halls and elevator were uncleaned. The manager called my room after 1:20 AM, waking me from a sound sleep. Apparently a neighboring room complained about noise (possibly) coming from the room where I was sleeping. They called my room instead of sending someone up to investigate the source of the noise. The actual source of the noise was a loud party in the room diagonally across the hall from my room. It took a long time to get back to sleep, I was so frustrated by the situation. Upon checking out in the morning, I politely asked for a discount due to being awakened in the middle of the night by a lazy staff, and was met with a blank stare! There are a lot of nice hotels in the area. I would recommend any of them over The Hills Hotel.

This hotel was pretty expensive, they charge 50.00 dollars for a pet fee. When we checked in, one of the gentlemen working the desk was really hard to understand with his accent, the other man kept falling a sleep in front of us. Strangest thing ever. And when I went to ask about the doggie area later, he was sleeping again !!! The maids were working during the evening and day hours which made it noisy in the hall ways with doors closing loudly and vacuuming going on. And when we would say hello, they never answered. The room was large, 1st floor looking over the pool. Things were clean but the room was defintely tired with age and damage from dogs. The shower pan must not have been installed correctly as the water would fill us while showering and leak out onto the floor. We did sleep well however. And the lobby was decorated nicely for the Christmas holiday. In the morning, even though the do not disturb sign was on our door the maid asked if she could clean the room. Very odd. I would not choose to stay here again.

I would not recommend this hotel. The room was dirty, remnants from prior guests left behind, and had multiple maintenance issues including lighting not working. I called multiple times to ask maintenance to come fix the issues but they never showed up throughout my 4 day stay. Staff was unhelpful and the hotel was extremely noisy.

I stayed at The Hills Hotel for the first time from Thursday, August 5 through Sunday, August 8, 2021, paying what I considered a very aggressive room rate for the grade level of the property. Regrettably, I must characterize the experience as not positive. The hotel's wi-fi network proved the worst I've ever experienced. Not since the early days of having to access the Internet through telephone lines have I experienced such slowness even when the network clunkily allowed me to access any content. My devices were not at fault; they worked perfectly (and fast) away from the hotel. Repeatedly I asked employees at the hotel's front desk to contact the hotel's Internet service provider so it could troubleshoot the problem. Those efforts (even if they were made) brought no improvement. In my room, the hardware operating the window drapes proved so deteriorated that I could hardly open and close either set of drapes. At one point, a wand became detached from the drapery rod; fortunately I figured out how to reattach the wand to the rod. The worst experience, however, involved the snazzy grand piano in the hotel's lobby. One afternoon, with no one else in the lobby, I nicely asked an employee at the front desk whether I could play the piano a bit. An experienced pianist, I wanted to practice some before playing for my Mother later that day. The employee responded, "The piano's locked. We can't allow guests to play it." I responded, "You mean you won't [allow guests to play it]." What harm would it have caused to allow a guest to use an available, otherwise unused amenity? Clearly, this was a matter of some unthinking manager deciding it was easier to say "no" rather than "yes." I can report one positive aspect of staying at The Hills Hotel: the shower provided strong pressure and plenty of hot water.

The Hills Hotel in Laguna Hills was probably once a very nice property. Unfortunately, it has seen better days. Here are the pros: The staff is very friendly and tries to be accommodating. It has a nice area for breakfast; however, I cannot comment on the quality of the restaurant because due to Covid restrictions, it was only open for breakfast and the meal items were extremely limited. The water pressure in the shower was excellent. If you stay in one of the even numbered rooms (on the pool side), it is fairly quiet unless you are disturbed by the loud vehicles that keep going back and forth in the parking lot where there seems to be a lot of activity at the back end of the parking lot. I have no idea what's going on there, but I would venture to guess that it's not anything good. The hotel itself seems to be in need of repair in a number of areas. Things are just starting to look run-down. The linens and towels did appear to be new and clean, though. The neighborhood, especially the parking lot was full of people that made me nervous. I just felt that maybe something was going out out there that wasn't quite right.
