Some of the best views in Laguna for less money!
The views from most of the rooms are outstanding! We had one of the best ever with full windows on 3 sides of the main room and a huge, totally private deck with full views on all sides too…beautiful all day no matter the weather and especially the sunsets! Enjoyed watching the surfers and gazing at Catalina Island. Outstanding staff too. Wish we lived closer so we could visit again soon.

    Great Location
Cute hotel overlooking the water. It's a bit of a walk down to the beach but worth it! Small kitchens in the rooms & BBQ grills outside so we could cook meals to save money. Great location to walk to shops and restaurants. Trolly stop is right in front of the hotel as well. Great for families!
Thank you for your review and we are so happy to hear you enjoyed the resort and the location. Please come back and see us soon!

First, this is on the beach. Not every room has a gorgeous view but every room is within 1 minute walk of a gorgeous view on property. Absolutely, one of the most memorable trips I've had in California. The main reason is the location, staff. The staff works as a team. Hospitality is beyond belief. I actually got a thank you card from Juanita and Madeline. Mike unloaded my car and repacked it back up like the professionally is. Jason who's in maintenance wasn't above getting me an ice bucket. They have an unbelievable work ethic at this place. These come with kitchenettes in most but remember you need to call and ask for supplies they do not leave plates, glasses, knives, and forks. Call the operator ask if housekeeping can bring the kitchen supplies. With that said some people take me literally when I say kitchen supplies that means the basics you will need instacart or go to the market for actual food supplies. 😊 Park your car even if you have a cane like I do you can literally walk to good restaurants. One of the best breakfast joints is down the block. Sushi across the street some of the best steakhouses in California and seafood. The City of Laguna is very friendly and conveniently located on PCH for gorgeous views for daily trips anywhere including Disneyland or Santa Monica. Any of the attractions are within an hour away. I cannot think of really a downside to this hotel except I would not recommend large vehicles. They have signs at the hotel but luckily I'm poor have an economy car. 👍😎

This Hotel for many years was part of our Summer schedule. The staff used to be friendly. The new owners have raised the prices, added high parking fees, removed the outdoor Barbecue & gathering area tables. We will not be returning.no major improvements were done in remodel. The rooms used to have kitchenette’s or full kitchens. That is no longer an option. Very dissapointed . My advice- Keep Looking

We have been coming to this once quaint hotel for several years now as an annual tradition to see the Pageant of the Masters. NO MORE. This hotel has become a victim of "new management". Hammock... gone. Soulful sips, an opportunity to mingle with other guests...gone. And most importantly, the wonderful warm service...GONE, GONE, GONE! We were put in the last room available which was in a high traffic area in the front of the hotel near the parking area. We couldn't open our windows without people passing by and looking in. We were booked Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. As the hotel emptied out Sunday, I requested that we be moved to a more private room, not an upgrade, just a more private room...NO. Now we are in are room listening to construction in the parking lot, I think they are nailing up drywall. We will find another place to enjoy our annual tradition and will be steering away friends that often join us.

Response from Danielle Waybill, Owner at Laguna Riviera
Responded Jul 25, 2023
Dear Dr. Brendam, We appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback with us. The experience you are describing is far from our typical guest experience, and we would have loved the opportunity make your stay more enjoyable while you were with us in. Your feedback regarding some of the things that were missing compared to your last visit, is taken very seriously so that we may use this to help enhance our guest's experience. We do intend on bringing back a summer social event that will bring the community and guests together. The team members receive many compliments from our guests regarding their service, and it sounds like we missed the mark with your request to change rooms. I will be looking into this more deeply to see why this was not accommodated. I would personally love the opportunity to speak with you directly. Please feel free to reach out to me directly at your soonest convenience. We truly hope that you will give the Laguna Riviera another chance to continue to host you on your annual trip. Kindly, Danielle Waybill General Manager daniellew@scphotel.com

WOW! This place is awesome, highly recommend it. I can't speak for all of the rooms but the one we stayed in had been recently renovated and it was so cool. Amazing view, great layout with the bed facing the ocean. Very comfortable for 2 people. Love the little things like air purifier and an aromatherapy diffuser. The swinging chairs were a great touch too. The front desk is extremely helpful and friendly. Huge shout out to Danielle, McKayla, Juanita, Bri, Jon and Matthew. And especially Jon for giving me some surf lessons 😉🤙 The walk to the beach is so beautiful and only takes a few minutes since the hotel is right on top of the beach. They provide you with lounging chairs, umbrella, and towels which is very helpful. Already looking to book our comeback trip and I will highly recommend this place to others.

I stayed at this hotel for one night with my husband. I knew that we were not going to spend much time in the room, so I reserved the cheapest one (no view, queen bed). The check in process was easy and the front desk was very nice and accommodating. I do not know if my expectations were set too high, but when we got into our room I was slightly underwhelmed. The room was divided into three parts: bedroom, bathroom and a small kitchen area with a fridge, table and counter space. The bedroom was fine, but it is a motel so there is a lot of noise and slamming doors. The TV is tiny. We didn't use the kitchen area because we were only there for one night. The bathroom was tiny!! Small pedestal sink and toilet, combined with the smallest and darkest shower I have ever used. If you are tall, beware! The location was great. Surrounded by tons of small shops and restaurants, plus just a 4 mile walk from the downtown area. The location felt very safe. If you are staying for just one or two nights and are looking for a place just to sleep and spend most of your time out, this might be a good fit. If you are looking for a relaxing stay with amenities, it might be more of a stretch.

Cannot say enough good things about the staff here! From management to housekeeping to valet to front desk -EXCELLENT! All went above & beyond to make our family wedding stay perfect. Rooms are being renovated, but it is not disruptive. Renovated rooms are lovely. Our room was not yet updated, but entirely acceptable & very clean. All five rooms seemed to have new & very comfy beds. Lots of "common" areas with great views for gathering. Suggest ocean front balcony - it's worth it! Special thanks to Ellie for being AMAZING!

This was the most heartbreaking stay in my 63 years. Our stay in unit #507 was a disaster in every way. I am writing this review to keep others from going through what we went through. I paid over $300 per night for this "suite" in early March, 2023. Except for the bathroom every room was terrible. 1970's furniture in the living room, no stove or oven in the kitchen, and a mattress also from the 70's in the bedroom. On arrival you have to make a list of EVERYTHING you need in the kitchen including a useless hot plate. PLEASE NOTE: There is absolutely no privacy in this unit. The exterior stairs are right in front of the windows so they are looking right at you as they climb the stairs. Two other units, 505 and 506, are right next to 507 and all that traffic is literally there with you all day as they pass. The balcony is an embarrassment as you have to climb two awkward 16" steps to get to the balcony across the exterior walk-way and when you do climb up the stairs with no handrail you are sure to eventually bang your head of the low overhang. Once on the deck you are just inches from the neighbors with only cheap lattice separating you so you are hearing everything they say and vice versa. This balcony blocks the view from the room making every normal expectation of what this room might provide be in reality an absolute joke. Check-in was infuriating with the host giving conflicting and evasive information with every question. I believe that this unit is rented to the uninformed for large amounts of money even though they are well aware that it is worse than the cheapest room at a Motel 6. If you stay in 507 please know you will probably leave angry and depressed.

My first stay here was in 1988 and I have been back at least 10-12 times since and recommended it to everyone I spoke to. Now it has been sold and is rapidly becoming just another VERY overpriced generic corporate spot. The charm that was here is gone, no more coffee and pastry brought up in the morning. No, now we get to pay $40 to park in their own lot and another $27 in fees for towels and wifi the fee not optional. Spackle all over the siding, paving going on at the main gate causing the entire complex to smell like asphalt. The whole stay was nothing like it was pre-covid. I've spent a lifetime visiting this spot but this was the last time for me. Sad to see what was once a very welcoming and upscale spot become what spc has made it
