The Lodge at Torrey Pines is an award-winning luxury resort set atop the cliffs of Torrey Pines State Beach in La Jolla, California. Awarded the AAA Five Diamond rating for 18 consecutive years, the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence, and Travel + Leisure’s Top 50 Hotels in the United States and Canada, The Lodge provides stunning views of the world-renowned Torrey Pines Golf Course and the Pacific Ocean and endless opportunities for guests to enjoy San Diego’s warm climate – from outdoor dining and relaxing at the spa to hiking, golfing and more. The Lodge is modeled after the famed Gamble and Blacker houses in Pasadena – two of the finest examples of early 1900s Craftsman-style architecture. Its post-and-beam construction features a natural color palette, graceful wing-like rooflines, shingle and sandstone-bluff exteriors, clinker-brick masonry, rich woodwork, and natural stone surfaces. Arrivals are greeted by doormen attired in kilted Scottish dress, while inside are 170 spacious guest rooms and suites designed for supreme comfort. The Lodge’s signature restaurant A.R. Valentien – rated Best Hotel Restaurant in the West by Sunset Magazine in 2015 – is a destination for fresh regional cuisine served in an elegant setting overlooking the Torrey Pines Golf Course. Artisan Table Dinners highlighting farm-to-table fare in a communal setting are offered weekly, while Executive Chef Jackson headlines The Lodge’s annual Celebrate the Craft event, one of Southern California’s premier showcases for regionally grown ingredients and innovative cooking and winemaking. For a more casual vibe, The Grill at The Lodge offers a full menu of favorites whether dining indoors or on the patio, while its bar is an ideal gathering place after a day on the golf course. The Spa at Torrey Pines features signature treatments themed around the beauty and purity of the Pacific coastline. This 9,500 square foot space uses botanical and marine-based extracts from European product lines Phytomer, SkinCeuticals, Farmhouse Fresh and NV Organics to replenish and restore the body and mind. Additional features of The Lodge include a croquet lawn, heated outdoor pool and cabanas, whirlpool, outdoor terrace with chaise lounges, hiking at the adjacent Torrey Pines State Reserve, a fitness center and the Scripps Library, a public space featuring a pool table, board games and more. Adjacent to The Lodge, the Torrey Pines Golf Course is an iconic 36-hole course that hosts the PGA Tour’s annual Farmers Insurance Open. Whether on the North Course or South Course, our guests have the opportunity to play where the pros play with the stunning La Jolla coastline as a backdrop. Nearby attractions include downtown La Jolla and Del Mar, Birch Aquarium at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, the La Jolla Playhouse performing arts center and the Museum of Contemporary Art. During spring and summer, the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club entices visitors with the thrill of live racing, while a popular year-round choice is the Torrey Pines State Reserve, a magnificent 2,000 acres of protected rare Torrey Pine trees featuring pristine beaches and eight miles of trails; The Lodge offers complimentary guided hikes throughout the preserve daily. The Lodge is located just 15 miles north of the San Diego International Airport and downtown San Diego.

Over priced, no amenities to go with the big upcharge for them based on Covid. This is not a Covid friendly place to go unless you bring your own beverages to your room, no mini bar, the walk to the Ocean is closed and they made no effort to help you get there on the golf path, little seating for dinner or breakfast, made no effort to use other space wide open with tables and chairs outside. No area to get a nightcap with food and take it to your room. No spa services, no pool table area without someone to unlock the room. Everything was room service, park and pay for valet yourself, so many fees for things that were not available. I do not recommend this durring covid, have not tried it and will not if covid lifts the drawbacks.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. The San Diego County, State of California, and California Lodging Association have put policies in place to keep our community safe, and we must adhere to them. With that being said, we apologize that your service was lacking as a result of these unprecedented times. We hope that you will afford us another chance to earn your trust back next time you visit San Diego.

Hotel's Favorite
We enjoyed 3 nights at The Lodge at Torrey Pines during the COVID-19 pandemic. Other than wearing masks and seeing the staff clean more frequently around the hotel, everything was very smooth. We ate and drank poolside and also at the Grill. Mariah at the front desk was quite helpful in locating the best golf and oceanfront room for our stay. All staff were warm, welcoming and very helpful. Ricardo and Mary Jane at the pool were excellent! We will stay again and again!

Beautiful place. The facilities are pristine and well kept, the staff is efficient and cordial, and the location is away, ideal for a quiet retreat. The service staff at the pool deserves special recognition. They are attentive and not overbearing, friendly and well trained. I enjoyed my stay and will definitely book again.

For the price, I expected better. I was there to golf and spend time with family. There are no perks for staying there to golf, just location. The food at AR Valentien was good and service was good. The weather and view are great. The staff is nice and friendly. It is a nice hotel overall. I wish they went above and beyond for the price. Happy to have a nice place to go with my family during a pandemic and a heat wave. Make sure you make reservations in advance if you plan to eat at the hotel restaurants.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. Although we are pleased to discover that you enjoy our prime location and the delicious cuisine at our signature restaurant A.R. Valentien, we are disappointed to learn that your stay did not reflect the usual attentive and personalized service that we are normally known for. We have shared your feedback with our leadership team and hope we get the opportunity to welcome your family back again soon.

Dog noise on both rooms on either side was disappointing and a major detraction. The location and service and food quality and cleanliness were all beautiful. Staff were friendly and professional. Greatly appreciate the acknowledgement and support of frontline healthcare workers by the discount afforded.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We are delighted to hear that you had a wonderful birthday getaway! However, we are truly sorry about this extraordinary circumstance as we do ask guests with pets to consider other hotel guests and to avoid leaving their pet unattended in the guest room. Our reception desk is always available to assist with any noise complaints that may arise. Thank you for staying with us, and we appreciate you keeping our community safe!
