The Lodge has a fantastic view of the the ocean and the Torrey Pines golf course. The rooms were spacious and comfortable and from the moment we arrived at the service was impeccable. I was especially impressed when we asked if the hotel could provide us towels for our trip to the beach in La Jolla, they responded by saying...

Pebble Beach move over...this resort is A++. You don't have to stay there to enjoy dinner at the Lodge. From the welcome experience with the car hops ins kilts to the Lodge experience (only 15 years old but looks like it is from the 40's). Smaller and more intimate, this lodge takes it to a very high level. Dinner was...

The Lodge at Torrey Pines is a beautiful and special place to stay. We were impressed with the rooms and service. Only ate at the grill for breakfast but it was delicious both days. Our husbands played golf on the south course. Said it was beautiful but difficult. Lots of young families at the pool and grill. We did have...

Beautiful resort hotel near the golf course amazes with delightful scenery. We attended friends' wedding and the time spent was all too short . We enjoyed gentle elegance of the place. Its grace and style manages to look effortless and smooth but for sure lots of work goes into the operations. We would love to come back for a longer...

The beautiful setting of the Lodge at Torrey Pines is only the beginning of the experience. Our daughter's wedding was everything we dreamed it would be thanks to Molly Nelson and her team. She and her staff were mindful of every detail, and the chef did not disappoint!

Never been much of a fan of craftsman architecture, but this place is fabulous. Warm, cordial service all round, incredibly well kept surroundings, spacious rooms with high quality furnishings. Excellent pool area. Room wasn't ready on time, but they reduced the room rate for me without asking. Nicely done.

What a wonderful time we had celebrating my husband's 70th birthday at The Lodge at Torrey Pines in March. We were treated like a king and queen, with everyone knowing our names and catering to our needs with special attention. Our room on the 5th floor overlooking the 18th hole (South course) and the ocean was so comfortable with the...

I stayed for two nights at The Lodge at Torrey Pines. The grounds are lovely, and the hotel is a beautiful piece of craftsman style architecture. The food was good, a little fancy maybe at the main restaurant... and not terribly filling for my husband who could just couldn't get full. But the service was top notch and the amenities...

My first visit to California was made all the more enjoyable by staying at this hotel. The rooms, location, food and views were all great, but it was the unobtrusive yet friendly service from the hotel team that really lifted the whole experience. Well done.

From the service to the views, food, it has it all. Mornings are a bit chilly, as expected, but dress for it and enjoy a little bit of heaven. I had a bad experience with a tooth while I was there. I was offered: a free trip to the dentist, a doctor late at night if needed, then a call...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Lodge at Torrey Pines is an award-winning luxury resort set atop the cliffs of Torrey Pines State Beach in La Jolla, California. Awarded the AAA Five Diamond rating for 14 consecutive years, the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence for six years in a row, and Travel + Leisure’s Top 50 Hotels in the United States and Canada, The Lodge provides stunning views of the world-renowned Torrey Pines Golf Course and Pacific Ocean and endless opportunities for guests to enjoy San Diego’s warm climate – from outdoor dining and relaxing at the spa to hiking, golfing and more. The Lodge is modeled after the famed Gamble and Blacker houses in Pasadena – two of the finest examples of early 1900s Craftsman-style architecture. Its post-and-beam construction features a natural color palette, graceful wing-like rooflines, shingle and sandstone-bluff exteriors, clinker-brick masonry, rich woodwork and natural stone surfaces. Arrivals are greeted by doormen attired in kilted Scottish dress, while inside are 170 spacious guest rooms and suites designed for supreme comfort. The Lodge’s signature restaurant A.R. Valentien – rated Best Hotel Restaurant in the West by Sunset Magazine in 2015 – is a destination for fresh regional cuisine served in an elegant setting overlooking the Torrey Pines Golf Course. Artisan Table Dinners highlighting farm-to-table fare in a communal setting are offered weekly, while Executive Chef Jackson headlines The Lodge’s annual Celebrate the Craft event, one of Southern California’s premier showcases for regionally grown ingredients and innovative cooking and winemaking. For a more casual vibe, The Grill at The Lodge offers a full menu of favorites whether dining indoors or on the patio, while its bar is an ideal gathering place after a day on the course. The Spa at Torrey Pines features signature treatments themed around the beauty and purity of the Pacific coastline. This 9,500 square foot space uses botanical- and marine-based extracts from European product lines Phytomer, SkinCeuticals, Farmhouse Fresh and NV Organics to replenish and restore the body and mind. Additional features of The Lodge include a croquet lawn, heated outdoor pool and cabanas, whirlpool, outdoor terrace with chaise lounges, hiking at the adjacent Torrey Pines State Reserve, a fitness center and the Scripps Library, a public space featuring a pool table, board games and more. Adjacent to The Lodge, the Torrey Pines Golf Course is an iconic 36-hole course that hosts the PGA Tour’s annual Farmers Insurance Open. Whether on the North Course or South Course, our guests have the opportunity to play where the pros play with the stunning La Jolla coastline as a backdrop. Nearby attractions include downtown La Jolla and Del Mar, Birch Aquarium at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, the La Jolla Playhouse performing arts center and the Museum of Contemporary Art. During spring and summer, the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club entices visitors with the thrill of live racing, while a popular year-round choice is the Torrey Pines State Reserve, a magnificent 2,000 acres of protected rare Torrey Pine trees featuring pristine beaches and eight miles of trails; The Lodge offers complimentary guided hikes throughout the preserve daily. The Lodge is located just 15 miles north of the San Diego International Airport and downtown San Diego. ... more   less
