The Lodge at Torrey Pines is an award-winning luxury resort set atop the cliffs of Torrey Pines State Beach in La Jolla, California. Awarded the AAA Five Diamond rating for 18 consecutive years, the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence, and Travel + Leisure’s Top 50 Hotels in the United States and Canada, The Lodge provides stunning views of the world-renowned Torrey Pines Golf Course and the Pacific Ocean and endless opportunities for guests to enjoy San Diego’s warm climate – from outdoor dining and relaxing at the spa to hiking, golfing and more. The Lodge is modeled after the famed Gamble and Blacker houses in Pasadena – two of the finest examples of early 1900s Craftsman-style architecture. Its post-and-beam construction features a natural color palette, graceful wing-like rooflines, shingle and sandstone-bluff exteriors, clinker-brick masonry, rich woodwork, and natural stone surfaces. Arrivals are greeted by doormen attired in kilted Scottish dress, while inside are 170 spacious guest rooms and suites designed for supreme comfort. The Lodge’s signature restaurant A.R. Valentien – rated Best Hotel Restaurant in the West by Sunset Magazine in 2015 – is a destination for fresh regional cuisine served in an elegant setting overlooking the Torrey Pines Golf Course. Artisan Table Dinners highlighting farm-to-table fare in a communal setting are offered weekly, while Executive Chef Jackson headlines The Lodge’s annual Celebrate the Craft event, one of Southern California’s premier showcases for regionally grown ingredients and innovative cooking and winemaking. For a more casual vibe, The Grill at The Lodge offers a full menu of favorites whether dining indoors or on the patio, while its bar is an ideal gathering place after a day on the golf course. The Spa at Torrey Pines features signature treatments themed around the beauty and purity of the Pacific coastline. This 9,500 square foot space uses botanical and marine-based extracts from European product lines Phytomer, SkinCeuticals, Farmhouse Fresh and NV Organics to replenish and restore the body and mind. Additional features of The Lodge include a croquet lawn, heated outdoor pool and cabanas, whirlpool, outdoor terrace with chaise lounges, hiking at the adjacent Torrey Pines State Reserve, a fitness center and the Scripps Library, a public space featuring a pool table, board games and more. Adjacent to The Lodge, the Torrey Pines Golf Course is an iconic 36-hole course that hosts the PGA Tour’s annual Farmers Insurance Open. Whether on the North Course or South Course, our guests have the opportunity to play where the pros play with the stunning La Jolla coastline as a backdrop. Nearby attractions include downtown La Jolla and Del Mar, Birch Aquarium at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, the La Jolla Playhouse performing arts center and the Museum of Contemporary Art. During spring and summer, the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club entices visitors with the thrill of live racing, while a popular year-round choice is the Torrey Pines State Reserve, a magnificent 2,000 acres of protected rare Torrey Pine trees featuring pristine beaches and eight miles of trails; The Lodge offers complimentary guided hikes throughout the preserve daily. The Lodge is located just 15 miles north of the San Diego International Airport and downtown San Diego.

The Stickley Furniture and woodwork throughout the lodge is amazing. The views are absolutely breathtaking. The place isn’t cheap but what can you expect for such an amazing location. I had lunch out on the patio and was very pleased with the service and food.

Hotel's Favorite
It was with great pleasure that we were able to once again spend a couple of nights at this magnificent hotel to celebrate my spouse's birthday. We adore the architecture, beautiful rooms and wonderful views. What makes this hotel standout, however, is the extraordinary staff. Everyone makes each guest feel like they are the most important guest they serve. The first staff member one encounters is Bryan (or is it Brian) at the Port Cochere. He is a welcoming face with a gracious manner. At the front desk we were helped by Nicole. She made sure we had the loveliest room and was so helpful. She's very professional and kind. Each morning we called room service to have our breakfast brought to our balcony. Sarah, in Room Service, who took our order could not have been more friendly and warm. By morning #2, I felt like I was calling an old friend. When we checked out, again with the wonderful Nicole, we were helped with bags and car by Andreas. He was delightful. Each and every staff member we encountered treated us extraordinarily kind. Only issue was in the lobby bar. We had a cocktail late afternoon while trying to enjoy the view. The music was a fusion type jazz which was not pleasant. The waiter was not attentive as he was busy talking to the bartender. We can't wait to stay at The Lodge again!

This is truly a world class small resort. The staff is amazing, the grounds are beautiful, and the resort amenities are a step above the rest. We had a fabulous time and the concierge made sure we had any reservations and information for off resort activities.

Loved every minute of it. Every member of the staff goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome and cared for. Will highly recommend. We traveled with young kids and found enough to keep them occupied on the property while not out seeing the local attractions. Will certainly be back.

I love the The Lodge at Torrey Pines. It's my favorite place to stay when in the San Diego area. The moment you get there, you know it's a special place. The Lodge is comforting, beautiful, the staff at reception are lovely, friendly and helpful, the food is great. My favorite thing is enjoying the complimentary coffee from the lobby bar on the terrace looking out over the pool, across the golf course and into the ocean. Breathtaking. Calming. Helped me recharge and prepare for the final leg of a monster college tour road trip I took with and for my teenage son. We saw 19 campuses in less than four days. Our brief stay at Torrey Pines was essential, and three minutes from UCSD! I will be back, and hopefully next time will golf and spa!

A first class property in a magical location. Every detail of the building is exquisite. The pool is a great place to hang out. Breakfast at the Grill is worth every penny. The staff knocks themselves out and deserves a nice tip.

Everything was wonderful. The quality was exceptional in a time when the hospitality industry has moved away from first rate service to putting profits ahead of that service that was expected in the pre-Covid world, now long gone.
