My Trip Advisor Followers know I have High Expectations. They were nearly all met this last week. First, the location is great. Walking distance to Starbucks, Einstein's Bagels, and a great Sushi place. I was working at Scripps La Jolla and that campus, and UCSD Medical are within a 3 minute drive. I was greeted by a friendly (and masked...Thank You!!) staff who made me feel they knew and appreciated my Lifetime Titanium Status. I was surprised they didn't do Digital Key, even when the App said my "Digital Key" was being prepared. The Room was comfortable, very clean, and well appointed. Good array of USB and electricity. Incredibly, the Alarm Clock had already been reset for PST, which hardly ever happens that close to having "Fallen Back". The "Juliet" Balcony doesn't allow any seating, but does allow for the slider to be open for the fresh air during this beautiful Fall, with a nice view. The Pool appears to have been being renovated...I didn't appreciate the Jack Hammering while I was working with my window open, but I know that inconvenience will result in a new and better pool experience. The restaurant/bar is Amuse. Great service from Colin who made some nice recommendations for Wine Selection. Abby (I think that was her name through the Mask...again thank you for being safe), also was a delight when she served us on the wonderful patio space with heaters, and a lovely firepit. During this time, their M Club is still closed, but instead Elites are given Coupons to use in the Cafe for breakfast. I did meet some challenges here, secondary to the speed of Service, but I was greeted by name by Abby from the night before...again, high points when someone remembers my name. The line was long, and one day I opted not to wait. I did call leadership about these concerns, and amazingly, the GM called and asked for feedback about what I was seeing at other properties, as well as how I thought things could be made better. Since I spend more nights each year in hotel rooms than my own home, I really appreciate someone listening to objective concerns and trying to make things better. THANK YOU! I'm back again this week, and I'm looking forward to seeing Colin and Abby in the Bar by that beautiful Fire Pit. I encourage you to check out this well appointed and maintained Full Service Marriott property. Here's hoping things return to a point very soon where we'll see Full Service returned to the M Club so Marriot's "Most Frequent" of travelers can enjoy those amenities again.

We thought we were located closer to the La Jolla downtown area , walking distance to so many lovely shops and venues...NOPE we were in a large medical area with a huge shopping mall across the street. We checked in and within 5 hours our room key had been changed at least 4 x....That is unacceptable Needless to be a problem until my husband asked to be changed to another room. The rooms are small with an additional very small balcony overlooking highways and buildings . We get a voucher for breakfast that was yummy and served to us by NILA...who is such an asset to your venue. She has grace, patience and just a wonderful person...we enjoyed our morning visits with Nila and then there was Zack at the valet...Another asset and such a nice young man. All and all we made the best of this but remember it is in a business area, you need a car and really caters to the business clientele

I stayed here for a few days in August while I was getting set up for a surgery at UCSD and it was a great choice. Since it is nearby, it was very convenient and helped maintain some normalcy. The lobby was clean, the bar/restaurant was excellent, the staff was super friendly and helpful, the room was quiet and clean. If I had to find a fault, the parking was $34 per day which is the most I have ever paid.

We chose this hotel because of its close proximity to UCSD’s medical facility where I was scheduled for an early morning procedure. The check in process was easy; we requested early check in and the room was ready when we arrived at 2pm. Service at the front desk was friendly and professional. My request for a room on a high floor was honored, but we were disappointed in the condition of our room. The surfaces were covered in dust, the sheets looked rather yellow and worn, and the bathroom was not in very good condition. Besides the hairs in the bathtub, the grout is in serious need of deep cleaning, and the caulking needs repair. On prior Marriott stays, we have found the tv remotes in plastic bags and signs limiting the occupancy in the elevators. None of these Covid protocols were in place, despite the spiking Delta variant. There was only one option for on-site food, so I ordered a turkey BLT with avocado. When I brought the sandwich up to the room, I discovered it was basically a grilled cheese with salsa and rubbery chunks of overcooked turkey. No bacon. No avocado. I don’t recall seeing this on the menu, and it was basically inedible. The soundproofing between rooms isn’t great. We could hear every door open and close in the hall, but the most disturbing thing was that every time our neighbors repeatedly slammed what we assumed was their bathroom door, our headboards rattled against the wall and our beds shook! This property could use some updating in the rooms; not sure if we would choose to stay there again, given lots of other choices in the Golden Triangle area of La Jolla.

Location is superb being across the street from a large mall with shops and great restaurants. Being close to the 5 and not far from downtown La Jolla. Misty did an awesome job getting me the quiet room I asked for. Many rooms have balcony's. Staff were all around great especially the valet staff! Rooms were a bit tired but super clean and well maintained. Starbucks was great as was the lobby bar which was open for meals and drinks. I'll be back!
