Our family of two adults and two teenagers had a fantastic weekend in La Jolla, our first time in California, and it didn't hurt that we had an ocean-side view on the fifth floor. The balcony is really a big plus too. The room was clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful. As others have already said, the location is perfect for accessing the beaches and shops, but also to be able to retreat to somewhere quiet at night. The pool was never overly busy, making lounging very enjoyable. All in all, we would definitely go back.

We stayed 9 nights. It was a family vacation (2 adults 2 teenagers). The room is a typical hotel room with 2 queen beds. We were upgraded to the 5th floor. We had a view of the pool and partial view of the ocean. We enjoyed sitting out on the balcony. This hotel is in a great location - just a block away from the water where you can check out the tide pools, the cliffs, the coves (great snorkeling), the seals and watch the kayaks. I'm so glad I picked this hotel and not one in the city. The employees were very nice. The hotel was very clean. The beds were comfortable. The room was quiet. The neighborhood was quiet. We very much appreciated the coffee station, the filtered water on each floor, the clean pool and sitting area, the AC was quiet and easy to use. I was worried about the washroom from other reviews but it was fine. Not much pressure in the shower and a little dated but it was clean and it worked. I highly recommend this hotel.

I've only been here one night so far and I'm dreading spending another. First off all, I don't know what is up with the plumbing but at around midnight the loudest water rushing noise I've ever heard filled our entire room waking us up from sleep and continued for a good fifteen minutes which has instigated me to write this review. I literally thought a pipe burst. But no, it's just how loud the water running in adjacent rooms is which continued off and on the whole night. Not to mention, the price is outrageous like most places in the area but this hotel looks over a run down alley with garbage bins stinking and ac compressors banging. The room feels moist which is super unsettling being in dry San Diego climate. Even more upsetting was that our toilet handle was completely loose and we asked for it to be fixed while we went to dinner because it was literally falling off the tank only to be told when we returned that maintenance left early. So after going out to a nice dinner dressed in formal wear I had to stick my hands in toilet tank water to fix the simple repair so the handle didn't literally break off. When I arrived I pulled into the drop off area to hopefully unload our luggage since my husband was busy with groomsmen responsibilities but no one came out to help even though I could see them staring at me from the lobby. Found street parking and walked in to find out I had to park in the rear and carry my bags up a set of stairs with no handicapped access unless I walked around the block. Oh and to top it all off the $20 a night parking was the most horrible spaces I've ever seen. Do not attempt to park in the garage unless every outside space is full because the garage spaces are almost impossible to fit into and I am now extremely worried another driver will damage our rental when trying to park. I am so angry and disappointed and want to make sure no one has to go through this same experience. I am lying awake listening to the loudest running water I've ever heard and don't know when or if I'll even get sleep. Oh also, even though it's advertised, there is no breakfast in the hotel free or otherwise

Dear Guest, thank you for taking the time to write your review. We appreciate all feedback positive or negative. After reading your comments I would feel the same way if I experienced a sleepless night and had to repair items myself. I get it, that's not how it should be. We're so sorry for all that happened during your stay. I also apologize that we are not a full service hotel so we do not have bell service out front. We also go to great extend to not over promises and under deliver so we have go to great extent to ensure that no where on any of our websites or colateral does it say we offer complimentary breakfast. We do offer free coffee and hot chocolate, poolside in our guest lounge. Parking is limited everywhere in San Diego and La Jolla, every hotel charges but we charge less than all other hotels in our market. Mostly though I apologize that we fell short of your expectations. We're fixing the noise from the water and also the toilet handle. This is never what we want any of our guests to experience. We appreciate you bringing all this to our attention. Thank you again.

Really close to La Jolla Village and all the shops/ excellent restaurants. The picture you see here is exactly the room, but what you can't see is that the furniture, bedding and carpet feel old and worn and the bed is uncomfortable. I think the box spring was mad of aluminum or metal as it made a popping sound, like when you push on an empty soda can, when we sat on it. Also, only 3 poor pillows. The bathroom is very small and really can't be used by 2 people at once....at all.

I stay at the Inn by the Sea every time I am in San Diego- six times a year at least. Inn by the Sea is the most delightful and relaxing San Diego get away that I have found. The atmosphere there is so warm, friendly, welcoming and helpful. I have never needed anything that wasn’t provided with a smile and true warmth from the staff. The staff are genuinely kind. For me, it is perfectly located, 5 minutes walking from the ocean and right in beautiful resort area downtown La jolla with everything I want- near family, coffee shops, restaurants, book stores and entertainment. It is also close to downtown residential La jolla which makes it great if you are visiting family. I love the views- I always get a partial ocean view. I really enjoy being able to open the patio door and feel the ocean breeze- this has been particularly important to me during covid. Equally important is that the rooms are clean and very comfortable. I truly love it there and I keep coming back, and intend to every time I visit San Diego! Leslie- a frequent guest

Prior to writing this review, I reached out to the GM that was listed on my invoice in hopes of bringing it to his attention. That was over 48 hours ago and I’ve received nothing back. The staff at IBTS was extremely nice and informative about the property, surrounding areas and similar attractions. That’s about where it ends…I later found in my room, white stains on the furniture, rips in furniture that looked as if Freddy Krueger had gotten to it and blood on my shades/blinds. I understand that this isn’t the Four Seasons and people are human…things are going to be missed. But when there’s (I’m assuming) bodily fluids on both the furniture and the shades, that is not only disgusting but also a health hazard. If I were not in a rush that day, I would have brought it up to the staff’s attention immediately so that the problem could be rectified. The blood was in a spot that was hard to miss…right near where you pull the shades open/closed. Additionally, upon turning on my AC, I saw an insane amount of dust sitting on the vents, which clearly has not been wiped down either. For the price that IBTS charges to stay there per night, I would’ve hoped for a bit more attentiveness to the cleanliness of guests’ rooms. I’ve attached pictures for reference; as I said, the staff here is nice but I will not be staying here ever again, as a result of a lack of reply from management and the obvious lack of cleanliness.

Dear Guest, Thank you for you comments and review here. I received your other communication on Tuesday the 3rd and wrote you back. I hope that you've received it by now. You're right there were stains on the curtin and the foot stool, we didn't find any rips and tears? The stains on the curtain is dried paint and the white stain was residu from a cleaned that our team spilled. I couldn't agree more that these would raise a red flag. I wish that you had given us the opportunity to offer you another room or clean things for you while you were here. I apologize for the condition of your room. We take yours and all comments seriously and I have communicated to our entire team your comments and photos so we don't miss items like this moving forward. Thank you for being our guest.

Stayed three nights looking for retirement options in La Jolla. Check-in and departure very efficient and parking convenient, in front or in back (includes covered parking in back). Room was clean and everything worked. Room was large, very comfortable and good lighting. No restaurant or bar services on-site, but convenient walking distance to everything in downtown. Hotel, previously, was a Best Western and still right for my needs. Competitive price and good service for the location.

We were in town for a wedding and they had a room block at the hotel. Our room did not have a view but it was quiet and comfortable. The rooms are dated and there are few amenities (no hair dryer, only one shampoo and conditioner). Due to Covid, they are only cleaning rooms every other day and we still had to ask for someone to come clean on our 3rd day. There is a "guest lounge" downstairs, near the pool, if you want a microwave or vending machines, but there is a small fridge in the room, as well as a small coffee maker. The staff is very friendly and accommodating and always available. Parking is $20 a night (which was discounted to $10) and we never had a problem finding a spot.

We spent 1 night here in March 2022. Our group of three, single mom traveling with older children, enjoyed the stay. The hotel is walking distance to the Children's Pool. Our parking was free, and the location is close to many restaurants.

Location is excellent, everything is walkable. The room was large, clean and comfortable. This is the only place in the US I stayed in 3 weeks that had a recycling bin in the room. Environmentally friendly hotels are virtually non existent in the US. There is parking at the hotel, ours was free with the booking but at $20 its reasonable and La Jolla is difficult to find parking. They also allowed us to check in early and upgraded the room to balcony. I would definitely stay here again. La Jolla is lovely
