Do not expect an upgrade at this hotel if you are a Hilton awards member unless you are diamond status... So do NOT stay here if you may be looking for an upgrade...

...However, parking was overpriced, and without a vehicle there would have been no reasonable way to get anywhere... Parking needs to be a more reasonable rate... For $40 an evening I'd expect a reserved parking spot, not just a mere parking pass, it was $8 more per night for valet parking, necessary if you didn't want to add yet another quarter mile to your walk... I'll look elsewhere next time I am in San Diego...

...When we checked in we were given a beautiful room over looking the golf course and ocean, but it only had one king size bed!!... At first we were told a roll away bed would cost us an additional $50 a night... While the kids slept on the floor I spent time looking for a cheap air bed to get us through the next 13 days... The only downside I have experienced so far is the Resort Fee... It honestly seems a bit silly and includes things most resorts automatically provide... When you are already paying almost $400 a night to have to pay an extra $32 a day for things like WiFi (on only two devices!)... and a discount at the pro shop, that we will never use, that adds up... Over the next 13 days we will spend an additional $416 to get 2 bottles of water, access to tennis and basketball courts, access to games and pool toys, 15% off at pro shop, 20% off gift shop, internet on two devices, and access to the fitness center... It’s an additional $40 a day to park...

You have to go up two flights of stairs and through the bar in the hot to use the restroom... Mind you, there is a $32 resort fee added to your stay and $42 a night for self-parking... We asked for towels and they never came... Lastly, we asked for two bottles of water for our 109 mile drive home and they said we would have to buy them at their convenient store!... ...Also, while there's nothing when you book or check in about a resort charge, you find it after you check out... The "special rate" was $229 per night... By the time I checked out—after not using the gym, the phone, the roped-off pool, or the Internet, cleaning and busing my own room, and not using their parking—the actual charge was over $276 a night... Being in an exclusive area I expected the hotel to be much more eloquent than the average style it is... Hotel charges a $32 / night resort fee...what value items does that get you - two coffee's , two waters, and free basic wifi... The small store/service discounts aren't of any value... Gym is small and a disappointment for the amount you pay for a stay... Given the high price coupled with the ho hum facilities I would not recommend this hotel... Paying $5 for a bottle of coke in the gift shop was just adding insult to injury... I don’t expect to pay that much at airports or ball games... I have been having issues trying to understand my final invoice... The Hilton customer contact center was unable to provide me a final invoice and they were unable to contact anyone at the hotel...

Sometimes we forget or even take for granted that service makes a big difference in setting the tone of our experiences or the rest of our day. This morning we had a great breakfast at Torreyana, and Joanne “JoJo” made us feel at home... She took such good care of us, and she’s genuinely warm and attentive!...

The bell desk staff serve as the main customer service touch point when you enter and Leave the hotel. Their level of service ends up making its mark on your stay no matter the interaction... We were very impressed by bell captain Rich Woods... He genuinely took interest in our day and offered suggestions to enhance our stay... It began with the front desk staff who was clearly bothered that she had to check me in. I asked if my requested (paid) upgrade was available, I was told it was based on availability... My room had multiple maintenance issues... When I asked how to get to the Torrey Pines Pro shop, I got vague pointing “go that way” and “I think there’s a path on the golf course”... I asked for a specific game to be turned on one of the monitors... The bartender said “I have no idea what you mean, tell me the channel” then he moved on to the next customer...

...During my stay, I experienced connection issues with the wifi. Over a four day period, I had to reconnect approximately 50 times for the three devices I was using... I was especially frustrated given I paid the extra $4.95 per day for the “Premium Service”... The last time I asked was one hour before check-out and I specifically noted I would be checking out in one hour and that I had not received any sort of response to my first two inquiries... I was sure that when I returned to the front desk, Hilton was going to make things right and apologize for the awful wifi service, and remove the offending “premium wife service charges” from my folio... When I reported this issue, the hotel quickly sent the cleaning staff to apologize for their bad service... On the flip side, the bell captain was awesome... ...They alone will make your stay here a memorable one!... At first we were told a roll away bed would cost us an additional $50 a night... However in the morning I checked in with Alina at the front desk and amazingly she was able to move us to a new room with two beds... Raul is by far the best waiter and so attentive, he remembers what everyone in our family likes to drink and eat, Reagan packed us a picnic lunch in a cooler to take to the beach and the concierge has entertained my children with photo scavenger hunts and loads of activities on and off the resort grounds... Everything we have needed has been provided immediately: extra pillows, blankets, a new tooth brush, towels and pens... The grounds are beautiful with a Tuscany style pool and beautiful gardens, corn hole, ping pong, and even a night time movie viewed in the pool!... It honestly seems a bit silly and includes things most resorts automatically provide... When you are already paying almost $400 a night to have to pay an extra $32 a day for things like WiFi (on only two devices!)... Over the next 13 days we will spend an additional $416 to get 2 bottles of water, access to tennis and basketball courts, access to games and pool toys, 15% off at pro shop, 20% off gift shop, internet on two devices, and access to the fitness center... It’s an additional $40 a day to park...

We had a wonderful stay at the Hilton La Jolla on the weekend of 20-23 this October. ...because of Neil, Kevin and Raul. As we all emerge back into restorative or productive shared spaces (vacations, conferences, etc.), there are overwhelming choices and some places have fared better than others. This property is doing something right with their people, because the people here are making this experience right. Neil at the front desk went way above and beyond to ensure our stay was exemplary, taking the time to listen to my husband and respond with compassion and genuine collaboration to create joy. That sounds overblown. It's not. Neil did a lovely service to our family. Kevin in guest services also came alongside as we struggled a bit to resolve a logistical tangle and just seemed genuinely pleased to help. Raul at the Torreyana Grill (in the hotel) made such an impression on me that I found myself looking for ways to express my gratitude. We were exhausted and he was proactively kind - he made our mornings easy and added joy. Folx, I don't write many reviews, but after 2+ years of trying to stay safe, it feels important to spend our time and energy recognizing and encouraging the sort of interactions we want to see. The people of this Hilton property really are stellar. Go see em.

I have stayed at Torrey Pines Hilton several times and it never disappoints! The greeting and assistance you get from Rich Woods, bell captain, is priceless. My family came without specific plans and Rich was super attentive in helping us find activities that excited the family and kept everyone engaged. As long as Rich is the point person when arriving, you know you are in for a good stay. We didn't overlook all the hotel has to offer so spent some time with Raul who helped us at breakfast several times. He was a gem and you can tell he is so happy to work there. We also seeked help from Christian at the front desk late one evening and he was very helpful in pointing to local restaurants that were not so crowded with tourists. Of course we took advantage of the bar on a few occasions and Lee was able to manage quite a few of us with a smile. I will also never get enough of the hotel overlooking the golf course. Instant relaxation when vacation can sometimes be super busy and stressful. Thanks for a wonderful stay.

Sad that this is the second time in a week I'm having to write a review about inaccurate billing for a Hilton family property. Selected the pet fee in the Hilton app when making the reservation and then was apparently assessed the charge again at check in. Then the Diamond on property food and beverage credits were not applied at breakfast. Had to stop by the front desk twice to fix these issues. Really tired of these properties trying to see what they can get away with, hoping the customer won't notice. Certainly not my experience with Marriott or IHG. Other than that expect a lot of nickel and diming. A $36/night resort fee that merits one free beer or house wine (no spirits!) per person in the bar and a bunch of other trivial junk that should be included in the room rate anyway. $40 for self parking - which may be avoided through nearby street parking. Would have been nice if they had asked if we wanted a room overlooking the pool versus the golf course as the pool view rooms are quite noisy.

Hello log24, We regret that your visit to our beautiful hotel failed to make a better impression. At the desk, Cheryl and David were very helpful and professional. Everyone at this location are very friendly and courteous and attentive to all of your needs. Thanks again for a great stay!

Rich is second only to Tiger in terms of folks with the last name Woods that you want around you when you're at Torrey Pines. He provides excellent and insightful service and his hair is so pristine it is a gosh-darned national treasure.

Regrettably, the Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines has not lived up to the memories of past visits. Once a highlight of the area, it seems to have lost its luster. The culinary experience was a letdown with food and drinks that failed to delight. A pervasive odor throughout the hotel was masked by a heavy scent, which was quite disagreeable. Such a prime location deserves better care and attention. It's disheartening to witness this property's decline due to apparent mismanagement. Two stars for the view, but that's all that's left of what used to be a gem.

Dear FlorenceP890, It was a pleasure to have you with us at Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines and we appreciate you investing the time to share your review. We are thrilled that you found the location suitable to your needs and that our incredible view pleased you immensely. We strive to impress our visitors and we are sorry to learn that there was an issue with your dining experience. Our culinary team takes great pride in creating an innovative menu of food and cocktails and while we understand that each palate is unique, we hope we can entice you back to explore other menu options. Also, it seems that our chosen scent throughout the facilities was not to your liking. We place great value in guest feedback as it allows us to appreciate what guests most love and areas where a tweak and adjustment would make all the difference. Thank you for taking the time to leave your review and be assured we will take appropriate action where possible. Regards, Alyssa Turowski, General Manager
