I was here for business meetings. It’s a great location with fabulous sunsets and walking distance to restaurants and a lovely residential neighborhood. The room was clean but it isn’t luxury. Functional but somewhat worn. There is a pool but I didn’t have time to use it.
This is a classic beach hotel. Don’t expect artificial luxe. Everything here is hard working and awesome. Rooms are clean and quiet. Beach set ups and attendants are sweet and funny. Close to places to rent surf gear and get really good food. The neighborhood is perfect. The hotel works hard to please guests with ice cream and treats in the afternoon, movies at the pool, trivia at the front desk. Easy parking sitch but tight lot. Top floor rooms have higher ceilings. We are sorry to check out tomorrow as we have loved our time here. We will be back again! Love La Jolla Shores and La Jolla Cove.
What was not to love here? We got an amazing rate for the location for Thanksgiving break. We had gone to visit my daughter who attends UCSD. We went with my brother and his family and got to adjoining rooms. Although the rooms/hotel were slightly dated, there is not anything else negative for me to say. The hotel is right on the beach. You could text ahead for someone to set up umbrella and chairs for you on the beach. We definitely made use of that. It was walkable to amazing restaurants for breakfast and dinner. We did not have any issues while there. The parking lot is tight and can be hard to get in and out of but we were able to get parking space each time. There is a sizable cost for daily parking but that is everywhere in La Jolla. Would love to stay here again but the prices have been much higher the last couple of times we have tried booking so have opted for Hyatt or Embassy Suites instead. But we will be back!…
We had a lovely room - ‘partial’ ocean view with balcony overlooking ocean. Very comfortable bed and down pillows. Very clean. Quiet -no noise issues. Pleasant and efficient housekeeping staff. Wi-Fi worked well. beach chairs, beach towels provided by hotel as well as tennis racquets, tennis balls, ping pong equipment. Fitness room, hot tub, pool all nice. Within 15 min walk to local bakery, restaurants, stores. Courtesy van will take you within 5 miles so you can take it to La Jolla Cove but cliff walk well worth the effort. We will certainly stay here again!
Best value on the beach! Our first and we’ll be back next winter. Walking distance to great food and entertainment. Resort staff was very friendly and helpful. You can pay a daily rate for parking or with a little effort you can find street parking.
This our third time here, first time for our anniversary 10/3/20, next for my Birthday celebration 5/1/21 and Birthday again 5/1/22. We are so happy to have found this beautiful hotel that has excellent customer service! Shout out to Jed who has been extremely responsive to any concern we have had. We plan on coming back each each year to get our beach fix.
We love staying here the rooms are nice and clean but the beds are a little hard. We also like the beach chairs and umbrella they set up for you. Except the attendant wasn’t there one day and we had to get our own chairs. All in all a very nice hotel going back at the end of the month and again in September.
I booked to stay here for a short family vacation that would butt up to a work trip to San Diego on Monday and Tuesday. When I realized that (uncharacteristically) my company had booked a separate hotel 1.5 hours away, for Mon/Tue I called to modify my reservation, 4 days in advance. They have a one night penalty ($364)to change or cancel a reservation within 7 days of reservation, should've read the fine print! They also needed a 2 night minimum for the weekend, which would've been fine, but they were unable to rebook separately due to a hotels.com hang up. Lesson learned - book directly with the hotel and do not book with a hotel that requires 7 day advance notice of changes for a work trip! The accommodations look lovely wish we could've made it work!
We chose this hotel for the location, being beach front was a huge plus! We were pleasantly surprised with some fun options in the garden area including fire tables and ping pong which we enjoyed nightly. The hotel provided beach chairs and umbrellas which was a nice touch! The restaurant has an incredible view and meals were delicious. The room was a bit dated but we truly weren’t in it much! It was clean and had plenty of towels. Pool was lovely as well. We would definitely return and would recommend for families.
I should have known that it wasn’t going to be a good experience when I was checking in and they couldn’t find my confirmed reservation. After I pointed out their mistake, we were checked in. The room was like I remembered from 30 years ago, except for the LED TV. Make sure that when you make your reservation you confirm there isn’t a wedding party occurring during your stay. My wife and I felt like we were trying to sleep during a frat party. After finally being able to fall asleep and then being woken up at 2:30 AM and again at 5:30 AM by loud music, drunken partiers, pounding ceilings and walls was maddening. However, the most frustrating part was calling the front desk at 3 AM and essentially being told it was to be expected from a wedding party, but they would ask security to ask the partiers to quiet down, if I wanted that. Amazing. If I can say one good thing about the place, I’d sat the beach is beautiful, but this hotel had nothing to do with that. 30 yrs is a long time for a hotel. This place has not aged gracefully…
