We stay here every trip down here.WE like the idea that its enough of a distance that it feel like a vacation and the staff is great. Cusp has a large selection of high quality items and a large wine selection.
My 2 grown daughters and I traveled to La Jolla from Florida for a family wedding. We stayed 4 nights as part of the wedding block. Everything about our visit was wonderful! We were on the 8th floor overlooking the ocean, a beautiful view! Our room was clean and fresh. We had a small fridge in the room and a coffee maker, which by the way wasn't used much as there was a Starbucks within steps from the front entrance! We used the restaurant once, a delightful experience with great food! My sister and I relaxed by the pool for an afternoon . The staff morning and night were great, always pleasant and helpful with supplies for the room or towels for the pool. I have a background of working for hotels, so I feel qualified to give this most excellent review. Keep up the good work and thank you. I will see you next time!…
Front desk very rude. Rooms are old and in need of updating. Very noisy and you don’t have your room by the elevator. I am a Diamond member never given an upgrade. Parking is $39 dollars for self parking, crazy! Just a bad experience all the way around
Hilton Curio - more like Dickens Old Curiosity Shop!!! One elevator not working - you have to wait for ages, why not repaired AFTER 2 DAYS? Rooms are from the Arc, great beds but decor is just terrible( definitely 1960!!), poor number of power points. Shower - no water pressure at all. Lighting in room ? Bring a few candles. THIS IS NOT WHAT I EXPECT AT ANY HILTON WORLDWIDE NOR WHAT I GET. Best to close and refurbish. Now on positive side , view from our room on 10th floor is just great, staff are very good at reception and in bar, restaurant. ( latter is OK for hotel food). You also need to chase staff to get clean towels etc on second day - really??
I guess it's all about expectations but when you are travelling to a "trendy" boutique hotel near the beach in SoCal, you expect a relaxing experience. Sadly I can't reconcile any of the positive reviews with mine. First of all, if you are expecting to be near the beach, be disappointed. Unless you are on the 10th floor, you will barely be able to visualize a sliver of ocean in the distance, in between parking lots, gas station and tall palm trees. It must have been "modern" a decade ago because right now it's nothing but tired, worn out and dark. The staff is surely nice, but waiting 15 mins to check in at 10pm seems unusual, if not for the lack of staff and computers. Let's get to the room. Others have alluded to the poor maintenance of the rooms. In my unlucky case, the aircon blew out the same freezing air no matter what the thermostat said. The leaking doors and windows didn't help, nor did the aircon's loud noise, on par with a 747. I would compare it to sleeping in a fridge near the main runway at LAX, if that gives you a picture. The coffee machine was either too complicated or broken. Having all the light switches at the door made no sense. And if you're hoping for a clean room, good luck - house keeping is optional (see picture). The WiFi is totally open so not secure (but works). The crane and containers in the back of the hotel are you wake-up call in the morning. I'd rather stay at the Motel 6 and not spend $250+ dollars a night.…
I had my room on the 10th floor, charged for high floor ocean view! But couldn’t rest at all with all the noise from the Resturant! I complained three times but the noises continued from 5 AM to 10 PM. There is no room service or room cleaning regularly! If you need your room to be cleaned, you have to ask them 24 hours in advance! I wouldn’t recommend this hotel at all!
Accommodation for flexible check in. The room needed some maintenance, door didnt lock and toilet didnt flush properly. Appreciate the early check in and process for check out was smooth. Hotel was walking distance to a Starbucks
It has potential but needs work. First the positives: a) location is great - it's about a 10 min walk to the beach and higher floor rooms have unobstructed ocean views, b) staff was very good c) restaurant located on top floor had very good breakfast and dinner. The not-so-good: a) location - it's at a very busy intersection so it's constantly noisy, and the floors are open to the outside (like a motel) and the door doesn't seal well so you get a lot of noise through the door, b) the rooms are a bit shabby, there was water damage around the shower cabin in ours and the faucet was leaking so they really need to refurbish and update the rooms c) elevators also need updating as they look very worn. All in all the negatives are enough for me to not want to come back until they address the issues.…
Okay stay. Pros: 1. Great ocean view from higher floors. 2. Location is a short drive La Jolla Shores. 3. Great kettle in room. Cons: 1. Room and bathroom could be cleaned better. 2. No daily housekeeping. 3. Parking on-site is very expensive; 30 Dollars a night. Most guests park on Dorado Street a block away. It was an okay stay.
Just wanted to say thanks to Nadia and Edlyn at the front desk for all my requests! They were so helpful and kind to us all! Our corner suite was amazing! Thanks for that upgrade! Some might think the hotel is outdated however it has the California vibe that will never go out of style! The top floor breakfast space was beautiful! We want to especially thank Eddie and Laila for treating us so well! We really appreciate the kindness from the both of them! We will be back for sure! Thanks to all at La Jolla Hilton! Diane Reyes
