We made this booking last minute, and were very pleased. Great location right across the street from the beach. Nicely decorated rooms, upstairs shared deck with fantastic ocean view. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful. Will definitely stay again.
Cozy 15-room property. Great location - walk across the street and you're in a SMALL green park (like a putting green) on a cliff at the ocean's edge. Park is a popular wedding spot where our son got married. Have to walk to the right a ways to actually get to the beach or sea lions in Children's Cove, but all is easily accessible from here. Description in Trip Advisor says B & B, but there was no food or drink. We drove to restaurants because street was too hilly for us with arthritis but others walked to downtown with no problem. Room was as expected with coastal/beachy decor. Very relaxing. Chairs are outside each room if you want to sit awhile or there's a common-use deck. Most sites we went to in San Diego are about 20 minutes from La Jolla. We stayed a week and were told they weren't doing concurrent housekeeping due to COVID and so not to interrupt people's visits. Got fresh towels right away when we requested them after a few days. Owners responded immediately when our TV stopped working from some weird cable issue (just like home). We tried to call office but found the room phone was unplugged. They came down and fixed everything right away.…
Large, nicely decorated room with sofa / table and chairs. Nice to have a shared balcony with communal furniture overlooking the ocean. View was wonderful. Needs some TLC in places particularly bathroom. Easy to hear neighbours Disappointed that although we had purchased bed and breakfast there was no longer any breakfast.
Our stay here was very relaxing, and there wasn't much traffic in the area when we were there. The room was very pretty and quiet and really comfortable. It was so nice to be able to walk along the shore and walk to restaurants. The view of the moon above the palm trees as we walked home from dinner was especially memorable.
Scrips Inn is a Perfect location. Right cross the street from the beach. Can walk to Mini sights and restaurants from here. Since parking in La Jolla can be a challenge and expensive. We went on a kayak tour to visit the caves really educational and fun. Once we got here we never drove a car for the whole two days. The room is clean and decorated beautifully. Do you even offer a cozy bathroom for your convenience. I would highly recommend this for a couples and families. It’s great value for your money. I would return for sure. Susie from Colorado.
My wife and I were overwhelmed by how nice the staff were. We were given an early check in, and a (very) late check-out, just to help accommodate our travel arrangements, and let us change after going to the tide pools.
We had walked by this hotel numerous times while visiting a relative at a nearby retirement community and finally had the opportunity to book a reservation. Because we were staying multiple nights, we were upgraded to a two bedroom suite with a kitchenette. The room was comfortable and inviting. The sun deck was a plus as was the hotel’s proximity to the beach; just steps away. We love LaJolla and are very familiar with the area, so there were no surprises. We look forward to a return visit.
Pros: Gary (co-owner) was very friendly, location is a plus, room decor is cute (although somewhat dated and worn but that doesn’t bother me) Con’s: Pillows are very uncomfortable (flat and cheap), they also need to invest in black out blinds or turn off exterior light by the door (they light up the whole room & kept me awake all night). These two factors made for the worst night’s sleep I have ever had a hotel/inn. I should also point out that the Inn is right by the road so it gets a lot of street noise and if you’re on the first floor you can hear the top floor inhabitants quite a bit. Other suggestions to Scripps: make sure sales is not misrepresenting “private balcony” option when this does not exist, And, lastly have option for hot water for tea drinkers in room (only keurig for coffee which is not good for environment either) If a potential guest does decide to stay here, I would highly recommend second floor, away from the road, bring your own pillow, an eye mask to block out the glaring bright light bulb just outside your window and some earplugs just in case!…
I visit La Jolla several times a year to see my relatives and decided this trip to splurge on a bit of a nicer of a place because I’m pregnant and I wanted a quiet little getaway weekend. I had requested an upstairs room but they had already been booked so I settled for a downstairs room. The front desk was very nice and accommodating of an early check-in, which I appreciated. My issue is that there was a huge family birthday going on with the group upstairs that moved onto the deck patio area at night and were Yelling until 11 PM. This is right outside my door and they were screaming from 8 to 11. I was super upset by this because I was looking forward to enjoying a quiet weekend away and instead it was obnoxiously loud and stressful. Around 9 o’clock I called the after hours number listed on the paper asking if anyone could address this but no one was on site so no one could address it. I was told to call the police. I didn’t want to make a scene and would’ve assumed they would have known it was me who called the police, so I didn’t. The paper specifically said because of Covid no more than six people were supposed to be on the deck but there were at least 14. At 11 pm, I went out to ask the group to be quieter and a drunk woman yelled at me and they continued to stomp around upstairs above me. It truly sounded like elephants were trembling the roof above me. …
Location, Location, Location, you can't go wrong staying here. This was our second stay here and it didn't disappoint us. You can open the windows to hear the ocean at night. They also have parking onsite. The staff is so nice and accommodating. A fabulous retreat but a short distant from San Diego. You can easily walk to town, the beach and enjoyable sunsets.
