This is not a fancy hotel but very clean quaint large rental rooms. No bar or restaurant and just an office providing tea coffee and pasties in the morning. Having said that it is right on the seafront and much less expensive than the other hotels in this area. So I give it 5 stars because if you want somewhere very central to restaurants and bars with sea view you won’t get better for the price. And parking is available which is difficult on the street. The lower rooms have views across the car park to the ocean (sometimes with cars parked in front of the windows) so if you want a proper sea view book the first floor rooms. We thought it was great and recommend it.

I spent only 1 night at Scripps Inn, La Jolla CA just before Thanksgiving, wish it was longer. It's proximity to the ocean, just steps away! It's a small hotel, I booked a king suite, it was a great choice. Big, comfortable bed, small kitchen & table. Shuttered windows that were easily opened to provide plenty of fresh, sea air during the spring/summer months. The bathroom was spacious with lovely, soft towels, complementary shampoo/conditioner, hand lotion and a large bathtub/showercombo. The hotel staff brought in fresh pastries, and had a Keurig coffee maker with lots of options for tea, hot chocolate, premium/flavored coffee pods. I can imagine how wonderful a longer stay, in the spring or summer months, would be at this hotel. Hoping to hook again in 2020!

We arrived late at night and found everything for check in taken care off. The room was really nicely decorated and quite spacious . Had everything we needed including plush bathrobes. The view from the balcony was amazing. You’re right on the Pacific . It was really nice to sit on the benches right across the street and enjoy the views.

You expect more than a good bed and a croissant for $400 a night. The coffeemaker was broken, and the office was locked until 8:45 am (not the 8:30 stated) it wasn’t until then that we could get coffee and a roll. We called their after hours number to report an issue and there was no answer. Decor was bare bones, and the toilet seat was peeling. Very disappointing...

We’ve been coming here with our family for over 30 years and have always loved Scripps Inn. It’s one of the most beautifully located hotels you can find. Today we checked into our room and found the sheets were full of sand and hair. The cleaning lady had just left, so obviously she just didn’t change the sheets after the previous guests. So disgusting. There is sand all over the floor outside our room, a large piece of furniture is missing (it’s apparently being reupholstered) and they no longer offer liners for the ice bucket (also disgusting). For $250-350 a night I think they would offer basic amenities like clean sheets and plastic lice bucket liners that you’d find at a Holiday Inn. We asked for the manager and was told he wasn’t here today. Seems as though the hotel has gotten complacent to say the least. Like other reviewers, I’m truly disappointed in the care and quality of services being offered here now.
