Although we felt it was a bit pricey, we really enjoyed staying here for two nights given its excellent location near the Redwood parks. We stayed in the Boat Creek Room, which has a lovely view of the river, and we did not experience any road noise as others have stated. The common areas were well-maintained and nicely decorated with autumn highlights. The managers were friendly and helpful, too. Although breakfast is not included, what they serve is delicious and reasonably priced. We would definitely stay here again next time we visit the area! Hopefully, by then, they'll be offering dinner which would be nice given that the pickings are pretty slim for eating around that location!

We have always wanted to stay at the Requa Inn, and finally made it happen on our fourth trip to the area. We wanted to be able to access Jedediah Smith and Del Norte State Parks, but I was not thrilled at all with lodging options up in Crescent City. Without any road construction between Crescent City and Requa, your drive is really only about 20-25 minutes. All of the riverside rooms were booked, so we got the Doalson Prairie room which is on the back side corner. I think it is probably the biggest room on the back side, and it was really perfect for three nights. The price was great, too. I've seen other reviews talk about constant road noise, but we literally only heard that briefly during our stay. The garbage truck came one morning around 5-6 AM, and that was quite a surprise... but we just went right back to sleep. There was no A/C, but you really do not need it (for now, pending increase in global warming). Doalson Prairie has two ceiling fans, and we actually had to turn them off in the mornings because it was so cool with the windows open. The bathroom was very clean, and the shower was very big and roomy. No issues with hot water at all. The king bed was extremely comfortable, and there is a nice little sitting area at the foot of the bed. We didn't spend much time in the common area by the fireplace, but we did have breakfast all three mornings. Due to COVID and trying to recover, they only had a limited menu which was actually excellent. If it is on the menu, share a stack of pancakes... it takes two to handle! Egg dishes were so fresh, and the coffee was perfect. The staff running the place was very friendly and had some good hiking tips. Best of all here is location... literally 20 minutes from Prairie Creek State Park, maybe 15 minutes to Del Norte SP, and about 25 minutes to Jedediah Smith. I'd say it is about 30 minutes down to the middle of Redwoods National Park, and 1 hour down to Arcata. Trees of Mystery is just around the corner, and you have at least half a dozen great little coastal hiking trails that are 5-10 minutes away. Also, do not miss a stop at Paul's Famous Smoked Salmon on Highway 101.

My fiancé and I stayed at the Requa Inn the weekend we got engaged. The innkeeper Cass went above and beyond to make us feel so special. The inn is impeccable, every room is so beautiful, each room is equipped wine glasses, opener and a bottle of local wine if you choose to purchase it.
The chef, Kenny cooked outstanding meals with his farm to table menu. We felt loved and welcomed every moment by Cass, Kenny and those staying at the Inn.
We truly could not have imagined or planned a more perfect weekend.

We decided to splurge ($468.00) and stay at the Requa Inn because we LOVE historic Inns. We had stayed at the historic and renovated Thatcher Hotel in Hopland the night before which was amazing! If the Requa charged approximately $150/night then I would expect the hotel to have the deficiencies it has. Pros- beautiful view of the river, nice staff, very pretty dining room. Cons- terrible road noise all hours of the night, windows that haven't been washed in forever, outside of the hotel is dirty and covered in spiderwebs (nothing a 30 minute power wash couldn't fix), rooms and common areas need deep cleaning and replacing some furniture. The chair in our room had zero springs left and my hubby sunk to the bottom when he sat in it, mold in the bathroom, terrible smell in the Inn from perhaps very old carpet upstairs, wall paper is peeling, overstuffed chair had a stain on the back of it where people's heads rest, duvet was dirty. The Inn could be amazing, but it feels a little like they are collecting the overpriced rates and then putting nothing back into the property. They did refund me $150 after I complained. But they made excuses that it was " a historic property." We only stay at historic properties and own a vintage home that we rent as an Airbnb. Historic properties can be clean and maintained. You can buy furniture at antique stores that isn't broken for a fraction of the cost of new furniture. So the "historic"excuse doesn't hold any water.

On a recent Friday evening we were driving down the coast and needed a place to stay for one night. The Requa Inn had good ratings so we called and there was a room available. The innkeeper stated that they normally only book two night stays, but would book us for just one night at $399. We ignorantly agreed not knowing that the pricing for the room we stayed in (Dolason Prairie) is $125 - $222/night. The website states a garden view, but it is primarily a parking lot view. Price gouging aside, the room was clean and comfortable, but there was only a common room and porch to relax on. The view of the river from the porch is lovely, but hard to enjoy due to the busy road the inn sits on. Breakfast was average.

Hi there, Thank you for your review. Our pricing is done by a third party and fluctuates daily based on a number of factors including weekend days of the busy season and current capacity. We try to be transparent with our pricing, and make sure our guests know the entire breakdown before committing to a reservation whether over the phone or online. The location of the inn, traffic patterns, and the varying views from each room are not something we have control of, but we try our best to create the most comfortable and relaxing experience for all of our guests. We're sorry your experience was not as pleasant.

I've stayed at Requa Inn twice before and this time it was very apparent to me the hospitality has really deteriorated. I had decided to stay there again to break up a long drive back home along the coast. The innkeeper was condescending and rude when I checked in, including quickly and annoyingly rattling off all the "rules" about the room I was staying in. Opposite attitude of the "old" Requa Inn. To top it off, my advice to anyone who plans to stay here: DO NOT accidently leave anything in your room. It took me a month to get my item back with weird excuses as to why it wasn't sent earlier. I was told they just weren't used to people leaving anything in the room! First off, people leave stuff in hotels all the time and to try to gaslight me for my terrible mistake of leaving something...ridiculous. The room itself in the front of the property was great, but sadly the innkeeper and their new management company didn't make up for it. I've worked in the travel industry for over 25 years, stayed in many properties throughout the country, but never had such bad customer service as here this time. It's sad to me especially because it used to be such a great and welcoming place.

We stayed one night at the Requa Inn because we were on a roadtrip from Los Angeles to see the redwoods and to take a canoe trip with members of the Yurok tribe in Klamath. The inn is 100 years old, and some of the rooms are quite small, but our room 22 was large and well appointed with two comfortable reclining chairs, a comfortable king sized four poster bed with luxury bedding, two nightstands, desk, and with a sink. The bath was small and contained a small claw foot tub/shower combination. The main show is the view of the Klamath. The common room downstairs looked inviting and many people took advantage of the games and books. Breakfast is not included but wasn’t terribly expensive. There is also a jacuzzi with half hour sign ups.

While the Requa Inn has lovely people working there, and has a beautiful view of the river, we have a couple of big warnings for potential customers: the charm of the historic Inn has warn off. The showers are old, short and not sufficient (we weren't the only customer complaining about the shower). The bed was lumpy and creaky. All through the Inn it is clear they have not invested much (at all) in revitalizing the Inn. The room (The Rhododendron) was small for the high price we paid. Speaking of the price, we learned during our 4 night stay that other people were booking last minute and paying A THIRD of what we paid when we planned ahead and booked. Because the check-in desk is in the lounge, it wasn't difficult to learn this. We strongly suggest you not book in advance. Last note- the kitchen wasn't open yet for dinners, but the breakfasts were delicious and the folks in the kitchen were very helpful.

From my first contact, my experience with the Historic Requa Inn was a positive one.
It came highly recommended by friends and Jan the Innkeeper was very accommodating. Circumstances beyond my control dictated a change of dates and Jan could not have been more obliging.
If you are looking for accommodations anywhere close to Klamath I highly recommend the Inn.

We were on a trip 11 nights out changing hotels each night...except 3 nights at the Requa. So we were really looking forward to relaxing here and settling in. This place did not disappoint in that regard. We really enjoyed the privacy and the living spaces. The offsite Cottage is up the road from the Historic Inn. Because of the construction closures on 101 (coming from the north) we arrived 45 minutes early but were pleased to be able to check in early. We purchased groceries in Crescent City (what a creepy place!) so cooked our own breakfasts and 2 dinners as well. There was no stove but an air fryer, hot plate, toaster oven and microwave. We finally figured out there was no central heat either but space heaters on each level. Who would think one would need heat in August? (When we left Medford, Oregon it was 107 degrees.) The upstairs had the king bed I wanted but also a queen. The skylights afforded a view of the Klamath River from the bed; nice. But the skylights were so dirty is was hard to see much. Even if they were clean when we arrived I saw how the weather would have ensured that by day 2 they would be covered with tree pollen mixed with fog. Oddly enough, there were 5 closets upstairs with 4 of them packed with 'stuff.' The 5th had 3 hangers and was inaccessible behind the futon chair! This dichotomy continued: there was a fun firepit outdoors but 2 of the 3 Adirondack chairs needed paint and/or had broken boards. There were a few pieces of wood, but no kindling. The picnic table badly needed stain or paint. The grill was handy but the Weber was so full of ash I had to clean it to get it lit (matchlight charcoal that needed a newspaper boost). The bathroom had an amazing tree slab countertop with a glass bowl sink, but the shower was the cheapest plastic enclosure with a curtain. The toilet bowl was the horrible round ones.
Our stay was very quiet. The internet was fine. The property has a view of the river to the east and of the Pacific Ocean through the trees, how amazing is that? So close to the big tree parks although we confined our explorations to the south after arrival due to the road construction. At $275 per night, it felt well worth it. With a bit of attention the place could be stunning.

There is both a lighthouse and beach in Crescent City which is about a 20 minute drive north of Requa but I did not see either near the hotel. You could call or email the hotel and find out if there any any closer.
