We stayed two nights and could not wait to leave. Both nights it was difficult to sleep with the noise from the other rooms since the walls are so thin, and the noises from people outside. Also, the bed does not provide any support and you will sink several inches into it. Our "Garden View" was a back yard full of things you don't want to see. The staff were not friendly, did not clean the room until after we left and then called to say we stole a blanket. I strongly suggest finding someplace else to stay.

This was an awful stay. We paid $300 for a premium room. The walls were so thin, we could hear the conversations of our neighbors. The doors did not work properly. We were told the breakfast was included in the price. It's a bed and breakfast so we expected the food to be included. When we arrived, we were told breakfast was no longer free. When we ate breakfast, we left cash on the table with our ticket. We walked around the property and the owner came up to us and began accusing us of dine and dashing. She was so irate! I insisted I paid for the meal. Then we discovered the waiter had taken the cash and put it in his pocket and left the ticket on the table. We had been set up to look like thieves. We did not receive an apology. We were quickly dismissed. I was so humiliated to be treated like a thief.

While the Requa Inn has lovely people working there, and has a beautiful view of the river, we have a couple of big warnings for potential customers: the charm of the historic Inn has warn off. The showers are old, short and not sufficient (we weren't the only customer complaining about the shower). The bed was lumpy and creaky. All through the Inn it is clear they have not invested much (at all) in revitalizing the Inn. The room (The Rhododendron) was small for the high price we paid. Speaking of the price, we learned during our 4 night stay that other people were booking last minute and paying A THIRD of what we paid when we planned ahead and booked. Because the check-in desk is in the lounge, it wasn't difficult to learn this. We strongly suggest you not book in advance. Last note- the kitchen wasn't open yet for dinners, but the breakfasts were delicious and the folks in the kitchen were very helpful.

I came to Requa Inn over Memorial Day Weekend. It was my dad and me. We stayed in room 7. I really didn't know what to expect - but I was floored by how wonderful this place was. We spent two days adventuring around the area, and this was the best place to return to at the end of the day. The only thing I will note is that as this is an older building, sound travels quite a bit and so it was easy to overhear conversations in the room next to us, and I felt compelled to be extra quiet; however, don't let that deter you! I would come back in a heartbeat and in fact, I cannot wait to stay here again. The staff was so kind and wonderful, the breakfast was delicious. It was an easy drive to everywhere we wanted to go - and the view was breathtaking.

We stayed at the Requa house for 3 night and it was excellent. We had been in touch with Kara (Inn Keeper) and she was very helpful in directions / what to expect, called us ahead of time letting us know that the house was ready. The house is exactly as described on the website and it has all the amenities. It is a great location to go enjoy the redwoods, you can go both south and north to enjoy these beautiful trees. A word of caution - no access to grocery stores / restaurants but that is to be expected if you are in for an trip like this, and Kara has told us that multiple times. We also enjoyed some of the board games. Used the kitchen to cook meals. Our kids had a lot of fun as well. The only suggestion I have is to get a better wifi as it was very slow. I would highly recommend the house.

Although we felt it was a bit pricey, we really enjoyed staying here for two nights given its excellent location near the Redwood parks. We stayed in the Boat Creek Room, which has a lovely view of the river, and we did not experience any road noise as others have stated. The common areas were well-maintained and nicely decorated with autumn highlights. The managers were friendly and helpful, too. Although breakfast is not included, what they serve is delicious and reasonably priced. We would definitely stay here again next time we visit the area! Hopefully, by then, they'll be offering dinner which would be nice given that the pickings are pretty slim for eating around that location!

I stayed here for just one night in the middle of a road trip that included Redwood National Park. The inn itself is a gorgeous historic building, and has a very comfy, "homey" feel that you would hope for and expect in a place like this, including a living room with a fireplace with windows overlooking the river (and appropriate covid precautions in place). My room (the Rhododendron room) was pretty small but a perfect size for just one person, and the claw foot tub was a huge luxury, along with what appeared to be hand-made soaps the guests could take, as well as some relaxing lavender bath salts provided. It was the perfect stopover between two long days of hiking. The view of the river is gorgeous, and before I left for hiking the next morning I got to sit on the porch and enjoy some coffee watching the mist rise over the river - overall it was quite serene. A couple of things - I tried to use the outdoor hot tub but it was lukewarm at best, so I got out (don't worry though - in-room tub for the win!). Although I never tried the hot tub again, when I did notify the staff about it he seemed very responsive and knew how to reset it - seemed like an easy fix I was just bummed I couldn't use it myself! Also the walls are VERY thin. I could fully hear the conversation of the couple in the room next to mine, and also heard them snoring at night. This is 100% to be expected since it is such an old building, but I mention it because if you are a light sleeper you probably already know to stay away from spots like this. They did have earplugs available although I personally didn't need them and in the end I slept great. Also related to noise - I did not AT ALL notice the street noise others seem to be complaining about, but I live in a city so your tolerance for street noise probably depends on where you're coming from. If you are a "finnicky" sleeper these things might deter you from staying here, but overall I had a great stay and felt the charm and warmth of the place outshone the challenges of an old building. It was a little on the pricey side for what you get, but I was willing to pay that price for the convenience of the location and the charm of the place. Overall, I'd stay here again!

We decided to splurge ($468.00) and stay at the Requa Inn because we LOVE historic Inns. We had stayed at the historic and renovated Thatcher Hotel in Hopland the night before which was amazing! If the Requa charged approximately $150/night then I would expect the hotel to have the deficiencies it has. Pros- beautiful view of the river, nice staff, very pretty dining room. Cons- terrible road noise all hours of the night, windows that haven't been washed in forever, outside of the hotel is dirty and covered in spiderwebs (nothing a 30 minute power wash couldn't fix), rooms and common areas need deep cleaning and replacing some furniture. The chair in our room had zero springs left and my hubby sunk to the bottom when he sat in it, mold in the bathroom, terrible smell in the Inn from perhaps very old carpet upstairs, wall paper is peeling, overstuffed chair had a stain on the back of it where people's heads rest, duvet was dirty. The Inn could be amazing, but it feels a little like they are collecting the overpriced rates and then putting nothing back into the property. They did refund me $150 after I complained. But they made excuses that it was " a historic property." We only stay at historic properties and own a vintage home that we rent as an Airbnb. Historic properties can be clean and maintained. You can buy furniture at antique stores that isn't broken for a fraction of the cost of new furniture. So the "historic"excuse doesn't hold any water.

We were on a trip 11 nights out changing hotels each night...except 3 nights at the Requa. So we were really looking forward to relaxing here and settling in. This place did not disappoint in that regard. We really enjoyed the privacy and the living spaces. The offsite Cottage is up the road from the Historic Inn. Because of the construction closures on 101 (coming from the north) we arrived 45 minutes early but were pleased to be able to check in early. We purchased groceries in Crescent City (what a creepy place!) so cooked our own breakfasts and 2 dinners as well. There was no stove but an air fryer, hot plate, toaster oven and microwave. We finally figured out there was no central heat either but space heaters on each level. Who would think one would need heat in August? (When we left Medford, Oregon it was 107 degrees.) The upstairs had the king bed I wanted but also a queen. The skylights afforded a view of the Klamath River from the bed; nice. But the skylights were so dirty is was hard to see much. Even if they were clean when we arrived I saw how the weather would have ensured that by day 2 they would be covered with tree pollen mixed with fog. Oddly enough, there were 5 closets upstairs with 4 of them packed with 'stuff.' The 5th had 3 hangers and was inaccessible behind the futon chair! This dichotomy continued: there was a fun firepit outdoors but 2 of the 3 Adirondack chairs needed paint and/or had broken boards. There were a few pieces of wood, but no kindling. The picnic table badly needed stain or paint. The grill was handy but the Weber was so full of ash I had to clean it to get it lit (matchlight charcoal that needed a newspaper boost). The bathroom had an amazing tree slab countertop with a glass bowl sink, but the shower was the cheapest plastic enclosure with a curtain. The toilet bowl was the horrible round ones. Our stay was very quiet. The internet was fine. The property has a view of the river to the east and of the Pacific Ocean through the trees, how amazing is that? So close to the big tree parks although we confined our explorations to the south after arrival due to the road construction. At $275 per night, it felt well worth it. With a bit of attention the place could be stunning.

We have always wanted to stay at the Requa Inn, and finally made it happen on our fourth trip to the area. We wanted to be able to access Jedediah Smith and Del Norte State Parks, but I was not thrilled at all with lodging options up in Crescent City. Without any road construction between Crescent City and Requa, your drive is really only about 20-25 minutes. All of the riverside rooms were booked, so we got the Doalson Prairie room which is on the back side corner. I think it is probably the biggest room on the back side, and it was really perfect for three nights. The price was great, too. I've seen other reviews talk about constant road noise, but we literally only heard that briefly during our stay. The garbage truck came one morning around 5-6 AM, and that was quite a surprise... but we just went right back to sleep. There was no A/C, but you really do not need it (for now, pending increase in global warming). Doalson Prairie has two ceiling fans, and we actually had to turn them off in the mornings because it was so cool with the windows open. The bathroom was very clean, and the shower was very big and roomy. No issues with hot water at all. The king bed was extremely comfortable, and there is a nice little sitting area at the foot of the bed. We didn't spend much time in the common area by the fireplace, but we did have breakfast all three mornings. Due to COVID and trying to recover, they only had a limited menu which was actually excellent. If it is on the menu, share a stack of pancakes... it takes two to handle! Egg dishes were so fresh, and the coffee was perfect. The staff running the place was very friendly and had some good hiking tips. Best of all here is location... literally 20 minutes from Prairie Creek State Park, maybe 15 minutes to Del Norte SP, and about 25 minutes to Jedediah Smith. I'd say it is about 30 minutes down to the middle of Redwoods National Park, and 1 hour down to Arcata. Trees of Mystery is just around the corner, and you have at least half a dozen great little coastal hiking trails that are 5-10 minutes away. Also, do not miss a stop at Paul's Famous Smoked Salmon on Highway 101.
