Given the small remote location of the city, this is a really charming, modern guesthouse with good amenities. It’s very clean, has a small kitchen for guests, and a cafe with coffee and homemade soft serve (it’s great!) Five minute walk to the train station and bus to the Onsen. Good common seating area too and nice modern bathrooms. The dorms are also nice but beds and pillows are a bit too firm for me. But fine overall. The curtain for the beds is also a little cumbersome but it’s a nice big space to spread out. Can be snug with luggage but overall works. Staff is also very nice and speaks English well overall. Breakfast is free and quite good too. This hostel is a bit expensive for the area and Japan but with the breakfast included I think it’s a good deal overall. Would definitely stay again.…
Friendly reception staff were so helpful (I arrived late at night), free car parking across the road, the beds have good quality linen and very good pillows and mattresses, the bathroom is well equipped with extras like shampoo, shower body wash and hand towels, and the breakfast was delicious western style. It made a great cost effective base to explore the nearby attractions. I was silly to leave my boots behind at the hostel and the staff couriered them onto my next hotel. I couldn’t fault this place really.
Friendly guesthouse next to the JR station (literally 1 min walk). It’s a 15 min bus ride from the station to the onsen & hell valley which makes it an excellent alternative to the much more expensive hotels there. Plus, you don’t have the constant smell of sulfur around you! We booked a dorm but got a free upgrade to a private room. Staff are friendly and there’s a café/common area and kitchen downstairs. Supermarket is around the corner. They lock the doors during night, but there’s really nothing to do outside anyway. Free breakfast is a nice extra (cornflakes, milk, bread, jam, coffee).
Mikki manages the place wonderfully. She helped us with many requests and logistics when we checked in. All shared facilities of shower and bathrooms are very clean and comfortable. Rooms and facilities are on the same floor, making it convenient to move around. Kitchen is on the ground floor and has all things needed in a shared hostel. Nice Japanese restaurant nearby. And 2 convenience stores too. Parking is free but 2 blocks away. If it is raining, as it was when we checked in, it can be inconvenient to go park and walk back as it’s all in open and away from hostel. But otherwise quite easily accessible. They really need to clarify in bookings about no towels etc. After the steep charge for the room - which was comparable to a triple room in full service hotels - it is excessive to also be asked to pay for towels! A good touch was the basic but filling breakfast. Would recommend this hostel if you are finding a place to spend the night while visiting onsens by the day.…
I really liked everything about this guesthouse in this quiet city called noboribetsu. The staff is amazing and very friendly. Everything is made to make you feel good and there is really a feeling of zen in every details. I truly recommend this place.
