Besides not being able to connect for ride from train station this has been a great place. I will be encouraging all my future repeat visitors to put this on there list. Walls are a little thin.I can hear the neighbors blow dryer through the wall easily.

I've booked this hotel and I've read they pick up at the train station. Has anyone had experience with this and, if so, who initiated the details of the pick-up (the guest or the hotel)? If not, is there a bus or is it best to take a taxi to the hotel? Many thanks for any information

After staying in the usual 4 and 5 star hotels in China, this was the best by far. You may read all the other reviews which are well done, but just reserve this hotel and enjoy this beautiful small town. Don't miss a day trip to Mt. Mian Shan and the Qixian Canyon. Both these attractions and this hotel could... More

All of the other hotels in our tour of China were bland efficient international style hotels. This Pingyao hotel was something else entirely! It was traditional, stylish and utterly charming. From our arrival at the impressive reception we knew it was a bit special. The hotel was based on at least two traditional courtyard houses and had buildings on both... More

We really enjoyed staying in this low-rise hotel recreated in the style of old courtyard houses. Exterior and interior decor beautifully crafted, even including the brick-based bed (we were provided with a second mattress, and slept very well). Some front rooms have a bit of noise from nearby karaoke bar, ours at the back was adjacent to the cleaners' office... More

This is a very old courtyard building, in beautiful shape, full of lovely old things. A trip into Chinese culture you won't find in a soulless modern hotel. You will sleep on a Chinese platform bed with a thin mattress, I liked it, but some might find it too hard. Nice staff, good breakfast. Dinner is in the lobby, with... More

The staff speak very little English. The rooms are quite basic. We went in low season and were virtually the only people staying. Breakfast very basic. Sounds negative so far HOWEVER what an experience - sleeping on a Chinese flat bed, dark furniture, wood fretting. Such an experience you won't find anywhere else. The courtyards oozed old China. It was... More

This was an unusual hotel with rooms based on the old Chinese courtyard style of building. The rooms had old furniture and the beds were of the old platform style, with a fairly thin mattress, which some people may find a little uncomfortable. This was okay for a few nights. The bathroom was modern and clean with a walk in... More
